Zepher explained that the splinter was a tiny piece of Ennoc's conciousness broken off by the Amulet of the Gods by Ennoc's Last General. I guess it can only be 'killed' because it inhabits the body of a mortal and would be probably just released back after its body dies. I don't think that this has too much of an impact on anything, and hey, Zepher is an experianced QM, we can probably trust him to do this right.

True, most modern fantasy stuff is heavily based on LOTR, whether we like it or not. Even our perception of Elves is down to Tolkein, before his works they were mainly tiny flying pixie type creatures. His books are the foundation of nearly all of fantasy worlds, but that doesn't mean that we can't take some artistic liberties here and there. Makes sense to me. If a player had been walloped properly and was stunned, why would they be dizzy for for their first action, but be as right as rain for their next attack? I think that Sandy's solution works better for logic and simplicities' sake.

If all stays well, I would expect Haldor would try to remain in Heroica for the forseeable future, as there isn't much left for him to return to back home, not after he left. But in the circumstances that he would retire, I imagine him leaving peacefully after realising that he could no longer continue. Once he left, I would envision him going to live a quiet life with Jess, and probably getting married and raising a family of Human-elf hybrids.
