K-Nut needs to get his scrawny behind out of those fields, he hasn't roleplayed in far too long!

This sounds like a very good idea. Having one-use status effect infliction is far more fair and balanced than permanent additions, whilst still adding an interesting flavour to battles. They'd be like the scrolls of the non-ether users.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. I was suffering from Tolkein withdrawel symptoms, and I knew something had to be done. Six months of not having seen this film was unhealthy for me and my family. Despite having seen it before, I kept getting goosebumps over how unbelieveably awesome this movie was. The Dark Knight Rises. Even better on second viewing, I managed to properly appreciate some brilliant acting from Tom Hardy on this run.

All I can say is: Yes yes yes! The first two games were absolutely and undoubtably brilliant, and I cannot contain my excitement for this next one.

I have it, but unfortunately it doesn't lend itself to ominous caves and demonic temples particularly well. Jas will just have to wait before he can rise.

Someone needs to drop Sorrow an Amulet of Ether Restoration (Grants one Ether Core for every successful assassination).

Me and maths get on fine, I just don't have the time to build. I am ok at maths and have all the time in the world. But No camera I suffer from all three; plus a lack of bricks.

This is the same for me; Heroica without the roleplay is like Batman without a the character, it becomes just a vigilante bashing their way to victory against hordes of mindless enemies. In my opinion, the Fields just take all of the fun and heart out of this community-orientated game and become something that might as well be played alone. I for one will not be signing up for a Glory party any time soon, I'd take a couple of battle quest with the opportunity of player and NPC interaction over power-leveling at a moment's notice. Let's think about it: Heroica is an organisation put in place to solve problems and answer pleas for help, and spending months and months hacking through unlimited foes in a field seems to be going against the philosophy of the Hall. The storytelling is easily the best part of this game, to my way of thinking. Both of my possibilities for my second character are people from Haldor's former village, so it wouldn't be too bad if one of them came over and took the torch from the then-worn-out nord as he faded into the background, or perhaps died.

"Can't really blame me, seeing as I was there. To be honest, it wasn't much of a secret, damn near everyone knows why we didn't get hold of Donny now anyway. But it ain't like I tried an aweful lot to stop you anyway, so I'll step off this high horse for now. See you later, Nur."
-
Wait, did Arthur just retire from Heroica?

"I've come accross them a fair few times. When I was headin' out for my first quest a long time ago, we were tasked with trackin' down and stoppin' notorious theif Donny Dozenhands. We got him eventually, which was no mean feat, but he managed to persuade crooked gentleman Nur into letting him go. That quest bears a resembelance on the surface to this new one, so if you're interested, you might want to read Quest #6's account, to give you an idea of what you're facin'."

'Tis gonna be a loooooooooong time...

"I shouldn't hope so, but it's inevitable really. When we went to that convent that I told you about, we were supposed to just be deliverin' a letter to the priestess; but not long after there was a murder and we ended up turnin' sleuth to solve the crime. Turns out it was a trusted teacher who done it. 'tis the trouble with people really, can't be expected to do anything you want 'em to. Let's just pray that this eviction notice can be carried out with minimal conflaguration and less unnecessary death."

Except supposedly helpful shields and mirror effects.

"Oh no, I wouldn't expect anyone to come to me for advice on matters such as love, I'm hardly a veteran in that respect. I was with a girl, an elf she was, for a good few months; but she vanished off the face of the earth some while ago...don't think she's comin' back. I need something straightforward after my last quest, and this one of going around and shooing away the tennants looks to be just that. Perhaps things will even go to plan, who knows? I'm not all that keen on the other notice, though, they'll probably need faster men than me to catch this rogue."

This thread has run too long without a Bowie track! Time to rectify this problem... A brilliant piece of work with such a deep meaning if listened to correctly.

Shame that Westminster has the launch codes!

As great as it sounds, I don't think Haldor or I would like another huge party epic quest so soon after Quest #53. Hopefull Quest #65 won't be too straining for the both of us and act as a way of winding down from super-perilous battles against demi-gods.

Record comes to an abrubt end. What?! You're supposed to say 'You have my bow'!
-
That's the point. Why bother drafting in heroes to win the battle when you can hire Atramor and Haldor, team-killers extraordinaire! The war will be won in half the time... just not with the result that you were expecting!

"Nay-deleni-somethin'. Not particularly promisin', eh? She's invited me to the theatre, and I can't even remember her name. Guess I'll have to put in some practice. Met her on a quest to the convent of Ennoc, she was one of the novices there. A terrible crime ended up being committed and I thought she hated me. Looks like she changed her mind, I was sent some tickets to see some play on Grogmas night, while we were busy not lettin' the city be consumed in fiery peril. Dunno why she can't have a simple, easy-to-pronounce name...like Gerdur, or Sigrid." Gerdur... now that was a name that rung some bells. Haldor tried not to let his thoughts linger too long on her.

Haldor shook his head from side to side. "I need some air, and some space. Perhaps a quest can help me clear my head; something nice and simple will do me good, how about this one?" The nord signs his name on the notice for Quest #65 in a loose scrawl. "Kicking some layabouts out of an inn? Seems clean enough, and with luck I'll be back in time for Najdelena- wait was that right?"

With what? Scotland has no military force of its own; perhaps you could ask jolly old England to help you out. Sorry, couldn't resist.

I couldn't agree with this statement more. It is the core ideal of Heroica to pick up jobs and carry them out for money, but what sets the organisation apart from simple mercenaries is that we come with the package of being self-righteous and strong-willed. It's this that fuels a desire to do what's right as much as what is ordered, but it shouldn't be forgotten through this course that heroes are actually on a mission to complete, regardless of the moral issues entailed. In character, this is what caused Haldor to become so outraged at Arthur, because he was not only switching sides in a battle but blatantly going against what it was the group was supposed to acomplish, which was the 'treachery' involved. It's because of this that making spontaneous decisions should NEVER become the norm. If a character desperately needs to break away, then this should be done with courtesy to the QM, considering just how much extra work this will entail for them. Additionally, it should only every forgo rewards, never earn them, unless it was planned beforehand by the QM that this particular decision, whoever took it, would lead to something different. Haldor has done a fair few random things in his time, and I feel that expecting a sidequest or special treatment for this is unfair, unless it be at the QM's discretion. Sorry about it folks... but I'd like to return to the vampires again. In this, I believe that Haldor's choice was morally justified; because there was no mention of vampire hunting or clues to such an event beforehand, in either the quest description or early premise. Although many may disagree, I don't think that it is wrong for a character to stand by their beliefs in a situation, so long as this has no relation to quest goals. Roleplay decisions are fair enough in random occurances like that one, as Haldor's choice was simply a moral thing and did not comprimise the quest or get in the way of an important events. It is times like this that I believe character choices are fair enough, but not ones that would deliberately change the course of the quest for one's own benefit. Obviously, things such as Quest #6 are an exception, as we were clearly offered a choice by the QM of what we would like to do. If Donny hadn't have made the offer, yet we had still attempted to work with him... well that is a different kettle of fish altogether.

April Fools events are common over large parts of the world, including this site, you could perhaps relax your morals on such days to allow yourself to enjoy the inevitable jokes and pranks. I would like the make the point, however, that moderating capacity did on no account decline during the joke. Yes, there was unusal responses and arguments not normally tolerated, but solely in the joke thread. Many moderators even joined in poking fun, which should have made it obvious that it was a joke. If the same admins who have been toiling for years to improve and preserve the site suddenly changed attitude, one would think that something was up. Fundimentally, the rest of Eurobricks stayed exactly the same throughout, and so, if you thought the joke distasteful, you could always stop reading it.
