Heroica RPG- Quest #67: Nova Tertia
Scorpiox replied to Capt.JohnPaul's topic in The Heroica Archive
Haldor doesn't stop, he keeps up his assualt on the frogs viciously. Frog A is his next target, from the front row. "Alan, hold still, we're nearly done!" Battle order: Tarn Benji Bors Alan Jeux Heckz Haldor -
Why is Quest #38 being reposted, was Zepher displeased with our party's original performance?

Heroica RPG- Quest #67: Nova Tertia

Haldor reels in pain from the shock of his hit. The axe had gone into the frog nicely, but he had swung too hard, leaving most of the force spent clattering into the rock beneth the waterfall. "Argh, damn. I'll have to be more careful with this next go. Frog D is mine, front row. Alan, this ain't worth getting yourself killed over, you best stay back and take cover." Alan does as he is told, quietly hanging back to tend to his wounds. -
Now you've pointed that out, I'm even more disturbed. That series starts off rather humorous and light-hearted, but grows increasingly unnerving until the later episodes turn out downright scary. It's fun to discuss theories however.

Haldor stumbled from the frog's bite, but kept on hacking viciously into the bushes. "I'll go for Frog B, if I can find him. Front row!" Alan, weakened by the poison coughs up blood onto the earth. Trembling, he uncorks and drinks a remedy. Battle order: Tarn Benji Bors Benji Alan Jeux Heckz Haldor -
If it's anything like one of your quests, it'll be defeated quite soon, only to come back twice as powerful, and then reveal that it was only a sub-lackey to the true final boss known as 'Plague'.

Haldor unhitches his axe. "Alright ladies, let's get on with it. Don't want anyone dying on me, be too much work for the veterans." The nord charges recklessly into the frothing water, stopping short to attack Prehistoric Frog B as he draws near. Front row. Alan, slightly off-put by this display, advances slowly until he is close enough to effectively fight. Prehistoric Frog C, also from the front row. Battle order: Tarn Alan Bors Benji Benji, again... Jeux Heckz Haldor -
I'd just like to apoligise for the sheer number of horrendous mistakes I've made so far this quest...

Totally my fault. "Sounds like fun, I'm ready to go and say hello when the rest of you folks are. As tall as me? That's slang for bloody big, right?" -
Never worked in a theatre department, don't have that problem. I also stand by mine that there are somethings that Byblos cannot realistically know. The key details and events, obviously, but no-one would write down that Haldor refused to fight some blood-suckers in an alleyway, and then spread it to the heroes. In any case, I consider it poor roleplay to simply have the librarian 'tell you everything' too.

Jurassic Park ahoy! To be honest, I find some of this knowledge a bit dubious. For example, Arthur seemed to know everything about Quest #28, even the things that there are no logical reason to record (I.E. The vampire battle, the fact that Bluehood revealed his intentions). I doubt that any of the party would have told Byblos this, so I can't see how Arthur would know. That's why I'm glad that Arthur's changed quite a lot, he used to be infuriatingly omniscient. In character/out of character knowledge... I'm also painfully aware of the fact that I've made two blatant errors so far this quest.

Once again, my reading ability is found wanting, Haldor blinks. "Aye.... Glad to see you've caught up with us, Benji, part of me was worrying you'd never arrive." He then walks up to Alan. "So these lizards spit venom? Clue in the name, I guess. How many of them are we expecting to see, and how big?" The nord looks around at the two weaker heroes, with a slightly nervous expression. "About this blindness thing... is it, er, permanent?" -

"Not too keen to go to those Velocinoids so soon, given their apparently lethal nature." Haldor grinned at Heckz "Wouldn't want to get the rookies killed so soon, would we?" The nord then walked over and examined the map, finally pointing his finger at the Spitosaur springs. "It's close enough, and if we work our way round the island we can finish on those velocibastards after a bit of practice. Nice idea, Jeux. Oh, what you dug up here then?" Loot! Heckz - Green Apple Tarn - Whip Jeaux - 5 gold Haldor - 5 gold Benji - 5 gold Haldor tosses the green apple at Heckz' face carelessly whilst polishing his axeblade. -
I hadn't heard of that. But yeah, it's probably a Tarantino throwback, his films are full of them.

TV Tropes. You will be enlightened.

Quest #66 is so unbelievely atmospheric. I can just imagine the back door party standing in the rain while lightning flashes and footsteps echo in back alleys...
-
Yep, that's right. If you can find the time, go for it, Reservoir dogs is definitely worth watching. Literally the only film to make someone being tortured absolutely hilarious. Hmm, I'll have to see how many other references I can fit in...

Haldor speaks as Heckz equps his old weapon. "Take good care of that, it's given me good service, may it be the same for you. Probably still has demi-god blood encrusted onto it." He then addresses the ranger. "Nice to meet you then, Jeux. Glad to hear that you're dependable, too many times I've quested with folks who are just the opposite. Hopefully this one will go smoothly. If you don't mind me asking, where you from then? Don't think I've met someone of your...kind before." Haldor tried to be polite, but he couldn't disguise his unease at the automation's palid face plate. -
Also, 50p to the person who can identify this quote. I've been wanting to use it for so long.

Haldor tossed his emerald to Heckz, taking care not to aim for his face. "Here, take it. You spell-flingers seem to be able to find a use for everything! You're also welcome to borrow my rod for this quest, if you like. It's pretty powerful." Realising the potential danger of tossing a huge great metal bar at someone, the nord carefully passes his Heavy Metal Rod to Heckz. He then turned his head back in an awesome way to face the group. "Alright ramblers, let's get rambling!" -
To be honest it's more likely to end up 'Haldor simultaneously team-kills the entire party whilst healing the enemy to full health'.

Edit: Just noticed that my health, power and ether are all one level too low. Haldor tried not to trip over any roots as they marched through the forest. Once they came to a stop, he turned to Alan. "Hmm, sounds like you have a bit of a problem there. Nothing we can't handle though, I give you my word about that. These lizards then, anything we ought to know about 'em? Poisonous, firebreathing - that sort of thing? First step is to know your enemy, that's half the battle." The nord looked closely at his questmates, it would be better if they got off to a good start. "Tarn, Benji, I know you both. Still, I believe this is the first time we'll be fighting alongside each other." The other two were unknown to Haldor, they must have joined some time when he was off fighting Wren. "Mage, what's your name? And you too, ranger, I don't think we've met before. Name's Haldor, it seems that I'll be running this merry band for today. First off, here's how we roll; I operate on a zero tolerance to bollocks, and would prefer to leave out any nonsense. Basically, you all work hard and we get the job done, and they'll be no problems, that clear?" The shaman grinned, producing a flask of something suspiciously alcoholic from behind his back. "Don't worry, I won't be too hard on ya'." -
Don't worry, Haldor will look after you.

On the way to his next quest, Haldor took a detour around to the marketplace. The nord arrived at Fabian's shop. In a rush, he planted the Paper Doll on the elf's counter and hastily made an offer. "Fabian, I don't have much time, but how much would you offer me for this exquisite, lovely and fabulous item and all that? 40 gold pieces sound good to you?" Too late!

Perhaps...
