  1. "Let's have a think, see if we can avoid fighting them, they're far too lovely to just be killed." Rocklings: Red (Try more gold) Blue Green Yellow Orange
  2. I'm not sure I quite understand, but I think you are referring to fractions. If this is the case, I would never use a comma for a fraction because it is unclear. Instead, I'd use a slash as you did for the second one, because it mimics the horizontal line used in writing fractions.
  3. Haldor winces as Benji starts socialising with the rock creature. It clearly wasn't going to end well. "Jeaux, toss that green one a bone or two, will you? I want to know that we've got one of them caught if Carvenhall loses his arm. Wouldn't like to be getting that close to the 'hot-headed' one if I were you." He stops for a moment and chuckles. "If all goes terribly, we'll have to fall back on what Benji says and make one of them eat a bomb. You never know, we might be lucky and only bring half of the monsters on this island down around our ears."
  4. Wouldn't bet on it. Not knowing that if either of them move for a second, Sorrow will hose them into the gutter with 8x ranged damage. I know that Sandy will justify it either way, so it's still all on Sorrow, Arthur and Nagure to do what they want. I'm still going to Bricklink those Donny pieces so I can make him, however. Head-taking thing still stangs, though. Anyone who's every played a video game/seen a film/read a book would disagree.
  5. I'm finding it a bit difficult to understand the in-character motive. "You're all just brutal, pillaging thugs; so we're going to murder you instead of handing you over to Patricia". Taking them prisoner would be so much more awesome... Sorrow gets to snark, the leaders are humiliated and the party proves a point that they're better people.
  6. All I'm saying is this: if you kill them both now, it'll end up ranking high on Most Lame And Unsatisfying Deaths Of All Time. I really, really hope that you choose to spare them, they're far to interesting to die in such a boring way. And hey, they didn't even want to fight if you read their dialogue; they were only there to bring a message, and Sorrow took it to another level. Wonder how the group will cope with Donny and Violeta's blood on their hands...
  7. Haldor stroked his beard. "Since the green one is lacking between the ears, we can give it this bone to keep it occupied. The red one loves hard things, so how about we try it with a couple of coins?... and they ain't going to be mine. Jeaux is probably right, the blue should be our aim to capture so we won't need to feed that one."
  8. Just to make things clear: if the back-door party kill either Donny or Violeta, Haldor will come after and decapitate every last one of them (Giving the heads to Dyric to keep). Please don't kill the major plot characters before they're ready to die, it's annoying.
  9. I just think it's pretty amazing that a psuedo-medieval character knows what any of those things are at all!
  10. Haldor runs a hand through his hair and stepped forward. "Funnily enough, Jeaux, I have something that could work. I believe one of you has a bone from the previous battle, perhaps it would be pertinent to try that before we start tossing all our shinies at 'em. Just a thought; but if you'd rather empty your packs into the throat of some rock-monster thing then by all means go ahead, I'm only throwing that into the mix."
  11. Don't remind me of that!
  12. Haldor produced the map and stared at it for a few moments. "Hmm, we're closest to the Rockling Road, that wouldn't be a bad place to head. Folks, make yourselves ready to move, we're going hunting again." The nord leads his group off in search of the Rockling Road.
  13. Haldor finished his bottle and kicked it into discreetly into the bushes. "That was... fun. Great work and all that usual tosh." Loot: Benji - Remedy Tarn - Nostrum Heckz - Smelling Salts Jeaux - Bone
  14. Haldor stepped back and produced some ale. "Tarn, this one's on you, don't take too long." Alan climbs out of his hole and looks around nervously. Both of them do nothing of interest for this round. Battle Order: Tarn Every One Else
  15. That means I win, doesn't it?
  16. This is also how I read Heroica, especially quests. Certain characters' interactions don't interest or draw me in, so I generally skip over those (not naming any names, because that'd be unbelieveably rude). On the other hand, some heroes are so well written that I make an effort to follow all of their movements in quests and outside. It's just personal taste really, and sometimes it works the other way. When a lot of people are talking about a bit of roleplay that I had automatically skimmed the first time, I feel compelled to go and re-read it properly.
  17. I think that you should lighten-up and let it go. It's really not that much of a deal, people are simply roleplaying outside quests in the way that they want to, is that not what the hall is for? Where else would they post these events? In PM? That'd just be taking the fun out of it. people are at liberty to play how they want, it's not up to you to tell them what can and can't be done. For me, the moment that we have regulations for roleplaying is the moment that this game is ruined. I say that everyone should be allowed to post what they want, taking place wherever, and that be an end to it.
  18. This is the perennial problem with a lot of fantasy, unfortunately. It's the biggest issue a lot of people have with Tolkein actually; the fact that Eówyn is the only real female hero in the series. Jackson tried to fix this a little by giving Arwen Glorfindel's part in Fellowship, but the gripe's still there... I also agree that it is possible and nearly always better to have a strong female character in a role other than simply the hugely clichéd 'badarse fighting girl' that seems all to prevelant in media. Sometimes I get tired of a female main character that is only really there for love interest, the 'tough lass' who exists solely for male attention. Patricia is a living, breathing example of how to write a believable and engaging prominant woman without resorting to sexual appeal. Massive kudos to Scubacarrot for creating her.
  19. "Same again, folks?" Haldor attacks Spitobastard D from the front row. Alan screams like a baby. Battle Order: Tarn Banji Banji Jeaux Heckz Alan Bors Haldor
  20. "See, no real harm done. There's not much they can do to stop us now!" Haldor piles on Spitobastard D from the front row. Alan digs himself a hole to hide in, whilst being blind. Battle Order: Tarn Benji Benji Jeaux Heckz Alan Bors Haldor
  21. "We've got them now, don't let up!" Haldor launches himself at Spitobastard D from the front row. Alan moans and rubs his eyes. Battle Order: Tarn Benji Jeaux Heckz Alan Bors Haldor
  22. Perhaps this one to a fair degree, but also this, a lot.
  23. Yeah, that wikipedia article would have been fine it it were just a plot synopsis and explanation of themes, but not a complete shakedown of the book. There's no point in reading it if the wiki just takes it to pieces with little regard to it's concept of personal meanings. All right, I can understand the point of this wiki more now, however I still don't see it as necessary. If you want to know something about it, why not just ask WBD, he created the thing. And in reply to that Tropes page: valiant effort, but I fear that the job could consume whatever part of your life not already devoted to Heroica. This game is so chock-full of Tropes that it'd take years to complete.
  24. In a manner of speaking... yes. But in truth, I'm reluctant to support anything in this game documented catagorically if it could be realistically interpreted by somebody else or given a slant. It's like somebody trying to write a report on the meaning of 1984. It means so many things to so many people, and although there is an established idea of its basis, it would be wrong to try and record exactly what Orwell is trying to say. Sadly this seems what the western education system is trying to make our children do these days. This game is the group effort of a huge number of people who've put in a lot of effort, I don't think any events in it can be put into a few paragraphs and passed as fact. Argh... I should really stop doing this, it makes my brain hurt. It's the music that does it, I tell you! Pink Floyd and David Bowie have an annoying knack of making me write unnecessarily long and deep posts when I could really just type a sentence. Steer clear of the psychedelic rock, folks, it'll get you nowhere but a dark spiral of inner creativity filled with the fragments of inspiration, yet leaking in the painful fumes of madness to rob you of all rationality in the foolish pursuit of reason.
  25. While that may be true, I'm saying that the existance of the wiki defeats the point of 'learning' in character knowledge. It's also important to remember that we're all playing our characters as people, which means that they have their own and different points of view; and to eliminate that aspect and simple have a document of 'what really happened' doesn't fit with this game's concept of OOC/IC separation. Part of the fun is having your character ask another's questions about events, and have everything bleed through a rose-tinted filter. If we create a place that sets in stone a series of past events minus any character opinions conflicts with what I think this game is all about. By all means, you're free to go ahead and spend your time in this way; I'm simply stating that I will not use, nor do I believe that it is the right way forward for Heroica. Let's just think about it for a moment. What would it contain? A description of how Wren rose to power? I'm almost certain that everyone knows that by now, and if not, surely it would be more sensical to just read the relevent quests? It's the same with all quests really. Yes, continuity is important, but I like to hope that a QM would at least contact the creator of a NPC before they use them, therefore a wiki page is not needed. So there you go. I won't be irritated if you go ahead and make this wiki; but here I am just explaining why there is no need for it in this game. This is community-run after all, so why not just try and keep the community involved with telling the story rather than exporting it accross the internet?
