  1. Great review, typo! I will definitely be buying if only because I am still early in the train game so these kits are a great way to pick up cars and track.
  2. And as someone who recently added a motor to my Emerald Night I'd like to report that it works great stock. I am sure improvements won't hurt but I don't find it at all lacking right out of the box. Just make sure you buy the correct motor. :)
  3. Good. No "Toys R Us Exclusive" on it. Was worried when they were the only ones shipping here in the States.
  4. A lot of reviews on this forum have pictures of the bags of a set. Can you compare another set and see if the bags add up without including the non-numbered bags?
  5. *sigh* little VIPs... I wonder what percentage of VIPs are adults. I remember once a local museum was giving a class on How to Make a Hologram so I signed up. There I was, in class, in my 30's and everyone else was 6 or 7 years old. Hey, it was INTERESTING!
  6. I'd be interested to hear how fast they resolve this. Just as kinda an average-Joe case.
  7. When I first started going through this thread I was surprised by how many negative comments there were. Now they are appearing in stock and disappearing immediately. I guess a FEW people were impressed! I'll likely wait a few weeks. I try to make one purchase a month. Last few months I've been doing so on the first of the month. Ha.
  8. I prefer to have my family photos separate from my Lego/Online Community photos. I use a different source for each. Luckily there are lots of options. I enjoy Google's Picasa most if only because the standalone Picture Inventory/Editor is pretty handy.
  9. I am assuming Buster Keaton! Nice!
  10. So Toys R Us has them in stock before Lego does. Okay.
  11. What I love most about MOC threads is that they end up 10% model and 90% technique, engineering and design questions. Such fascinating reading and I am so impressed by how generous everyone is with their techniques. Other hobbies I've seen folks get very possessive of their "trade secrets".
  12. And make the bricks bio-degradable so every few years you have to buy all new ones! MARKETING GENIUS!
  13. I am fascinated by your lack of commas and periods combined with random capitalizations. Honestly, that's a fascinating typing quirk.
  14. I've worked for several Fortune500 Companies running the Gamut from McDonald's to Texas Instruments and some companies do a pretty good job of keeping the worker bees satisfied.
  15. These discussions always get a bit heated. Bottom line is that trying to cater to any one group is not only tough but also very much a moving target. My daughter is pretty ambiguous when it comes to toys. She loves Trains (Thomas) yet she will sometimes take all of her engines and have a tea party with them. But I have certainly met plenty of super-foofy girls who just want pink unicorns and dolls with hair to comb. I wouldn't want that marketing job.
  16. Awe-inspiring. Truly! The way you describe it makes it sound as if it is from a real structure. Any photos or links of that? EDIT: Sorry, missed your link to that. The outside was very nice but when you went floor by floor I was ... FLOORED! The details give it so much character!
  17. When Lego Universe goes Free-to-Play (August?) I will be joining and will likely be a premium member shortly after.
  18. I will be buying it just so I can hear my wife say "Don't you already have a freight train?"
  19. Well, comparing this to another hobby the set seems appropriate. I used to build model rockets. You only needed the starter kit once. Once you had the launch pad, igniter, etc. then all you needed were the rockets and small accessories. The starter kits were usually aimed at the junior levels.
  20. I jut ordered this set online and I specifically bought it because of the size of each floor of the building (two stories instead of three). I plan on removing the back wall and making it into a "doll house" for my daughter. I'll be keeping it a Firehouse (she is pretty flexible with her play themes) but plan on doing some remodeling as she is still very young.
  21. I'd be interested ot hear form others if they have the same issues. Mine is very responsive and my speeds range from a crawl to outrageous. Could IR interference be an issue? I suppose it would be nice to have more steps. I could see the benefit of a true potentiometer type of response. But I certainly have no delays or stacked responses.
  22. The page now loads. No image but price is in.
  23. For my daughter I'd love to see some houses with more play utility. Perhaps even an elaborate, multi-storied doll house. Most Lego buildings have very little internal space and even that is usually sectioned up for show, not play utility. If my daughter can't fit a multi-minifigure tea party in there she's gonna be disappointed. :)
  24. This thread was a fun ride from rumor to crazy speculation to denials to being on the store shelves. Fantastic.
  25. Love the flow you got, especially considering you're working with very rigid bricks. :)
