  1. That is the nicest "car accessory" I've ever seen. Great work!
  2. Frustrating that doing a search in TRU's website for 11815467 brings up a page with "LEGO City Red Cargo Train" as a header but nothing on the page. Guess I'll be phoning them as well.
  3. I can't imagine ANY piece rare enough for me to dig out. :(
  4. Even the childrens Mega Blox are of horrific quality. We bought our daughter a Yo Gabba Gabba set and the bricks won't even allow us to build a tower. Some bricks are just loose and half the time it's the bottom and half the time the top so any attempts to ferret out the bad ones has you removing most of them. Too frustrating to play with. Any time anyone complains about Lego prices I suggest they buy an MB set. They're cheaper for a reason.
  5. Absolutely inspiring, friend. Honestly, each time I look I get more excited about creating. Thank you for all the hard work!
  6. After I built mine I displayed it in a case in our living room where it got a lot of comments. It is a beautiful piece of work. Most folks can't believe it's Lego.
  7. An hour later she'll have 127 private mails proposing marriage.
  8. It's been a long time since my jaw actually dropped in real life when I saw something. Stunning!
  9. I returned to Legos after about twenty five years of "dark ages" when I bought a set for my daughter. The set was way beyond her years (every time she touches it she comes away with pieces) but the build process was such a blast I can't seem to stop. I'm mainly buying for the build but I try to pick sets that I can share with my daughter under supervision. As others have said "Enjoy yourself" Doesn't matter if the fun for you is the build, collecting boxes, putting a model on a shelf or swinging spaceships around in your hands making pew-pew sounds. Found myself making sound effects using a Lego crane the other day. Enjoy!
  10. I am interested in hearing more about these people. Oh, and great build! :D
  11. Good for them! Grab some attention! Don't think I've ever seen a non-TV Lego ad here in Northern California...
  12. I have been researching "Old West" Train Stations for an MOC project and this is very nicely in tune with what I've been finding. Beautifully done! It's nice when good engineering mixes with art sensibilities to create a scene with "life".
  13. I think a Tunnel entrance as a set is a great idea. We should all chip in and design features! Doesn't have to be Train-only. Just a generic tunnel entrance that could be used for people, cars, whatever. An archway, two slopes coming down and an overhang. If we could think of a few things to make it more interesting I bet it is do-able! I Google-imaged "Train Tunnel" and got some great ideas. Most of the images' websites will be pretty clear whether they are from the US or not.
  14. Hinges are great if they are for someone who wants to actually play with minifigs in the building. I'm not a big fan of the look but I think if the hinges are cleverly hidden it's a great technique.
  15. Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but US ToysRUs is having a "Buy 2 get the third 90% Off" Sale. I was thoroughly disappointed with their online store shipping on my last purchase (both items in stock, one took two weeks to arrive) but I may go see what the local shop has in stock.
  16. Fascinating!
  17. You're no longer a member of this family! Get out! And take those metal contraptions with you! Well, I'm kidding. I'm an old man now but when I was young my brother did N-scale and it sometimes calls to me. I can totally understand getting caught up in HO stuff as well.
  18. For me the value would be in: - Layout examples - Layout options (indoor, outdoor, fixed, floor, etc.) - Lots and lots of examples, especially of clever touches to scenery - Ways to expand your collection the cheapest - Powering items beyond the train (switches, scenery, etc.) I'd buy it in a heartbeat even if only to support Railbricks great work.
  19. I enjoyed that story!
  20. Mind-blowing. The waterfall knocked my socks off. The Toy Story cars on the Emerald Night made me smile! Would be great if it ended with a pan back showing the whole thing.
  21. Maybe in that picture the worker is removing the Flexitrack for the junkyard!
  22. Hmmm. I suppose I do need to watch my tone because I was being overly-dramatic on purpose to be humorous. I obviously did not word it effectively. My tunnel will be for my Lego trains and I do plan on making it out of Lego. I was merely stating that I will be pre-modeling it out of non-Lego material to help fit it into my layout. After I have the dimensions and shape I'll be going to the Lego modeler. I sure hope there is no rule here about what methods we use to get to our final Lego creations. As someone with a long history of prototyping I have found that many mediums assist in bringing final products to life. If a method like this works for me I think it might be helpful to others taking on large scale projects and had planned on documenting it here.
  23. I am currently building a non-Lego tunnel for my Lego trains in preparation for an eventual Lego tunnel. I need a tunnel. I need to see the light from my Engines coming around the corner of a tunnel. It just needs to happen. Edit: changed wording
  24. We have a small Funiculi by us at a restaurant and I NEVER thought of redoing it in Lego. GREAT IDEA! Nicely done!
  25. I am real excited about having a second full PF set ordered. Really looking forward to having two people with separate controls on the same track.
