  1. KEEP TRYING! My item went back in stock. Ordered! I guess they're just getting hammered today.
  2. Wow. This is depressing. Had the Imperial Flagship in my Cart but got distracted by real life before submitting. Now it's no longer available to add and has been removed from my cart. *sigh*
  3. The Online event today for me was: $50 = Free Shipping $100 = Free Shipping and Holiday Set 2 (Fireplace) $150 = Free Shipping, Holiday Set 2 (Fireplace) and 15% off Kind of amazing to me if that is better than the Letter VIP Black Friday Special. EDIT: Yes, I fell for it. Spent $175
  4. I do wonder how much of this is due to serious tarrifs and taxes on imported goods. Tarrifs make sense to protect a country from cheap imports but they are often times outdated and abused.
  5. Well, I buy a lot but the store that I go to serves an awful lot of very rich people so I can't imagine I'll be invited. Funny thing is that I normally hide in my house on Black Friday but i would feel pretty obligated to go to this one.
  6. Well, not sure it's been said yet but whatever you do make sure you get those things clean. While Hantavirus is very localized to certain regions of the country there are still plenty of other things mouse droppings can carry. The CDC has a pdf of how to clean up mouse droppings most effectively: http://www.cdc.gov/hantavirus/pdf/HPS_Brochure.pdf
  7. Reddit, I love you! The finished product http://i.imgur.com/Ut3qS.jpg
  8. Struggling to find a finished image.
  9. http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/11/04/lego-universe-shutting-down-january-2012/ After subscribing I suppose I'm not surprised. While the game itself was a great deal of fun it definitely had its problems and their Free-to-play implementation was really just the frist zone free with lots of limitations. Too bad.
  10. Too big to put in the post, I think. So a link! http://i.imgur.com/HCOds.jpg Got the link from Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/lz9i1/lego_street_painting_happening_in_sarasota/ Which also linked to the festival it is being drawn for: http://www.chalkfestival.com/
  11. I thought Amazon's solution was fine. In case anybody missed it: They offered to replace it or he could keep it and they would refund half the price. I think that's great service.
  12. It's because in Europe they count bricks using the Metric Brick system.
  13. Gonna try desperately to steer this train back on the tracks: I'd like to see a Holiday Dinner setting. Big Dining Room, little table for the kids. Maybe with a kitchen scene as well.
  14. One of my Amazon boxes arrived with several gaping holes in the Lego box but NOT the shipping box, so it was clear they knowingly shipped it like that. Mine was for me so I didn't care once I checked the contents. I never thought twice about it but perhaps the warehouse where they store Lego has some issues. I should have mentioned it to them. For how much I buy from them they are extraordinarily good.
  15. Thanks for the heads up. I rarely double check my bills.
  16. Interestingly, a "threadmill" is used to make thread. But I am guessing a silk shirt made of spider silk would be very uncomfortable.
  17. I sure wish they would announce them so that we can keep pictures up!
  18. My daughter is almost three and her giant box of Duplo sits unused but she loves "Daddy's" Lego. I have a variety of kits (some modified for toddler playing) and a giant pile of bricks. She has just now started being intrigued by clicking them together. She doesn't always grasp which side is which on the bricks and can get frustrated by I am regularly surprised by the way she interacts with the regular kits. I love watching her accomplish stuff and try to reinforce how she couldn't do stuff when she was a baby but now she can because she is growing up. This "Dad" stuff can be pretty neat.
  19. Just documenting here for posterity (translation: when my daughter finds the box and mixes the pieces in with our others) Blue Green Yellow Red Black White All pieces x1 All colors identical counts 1: 6 2: 8 3: 4 4: 4 6: 2 144 pcs total
  20. I have received mine. The unboxing. It's a surprisingly small box. That's a little Mater next to it for scale. The back of the box. Seem to be very minimalistic. This is the start of a trend... Opening the box you are presented with a quick-start guide. Again, very simple. Three steps. The rest of the contents. Sticker (I think), baseboard, Lego. Unbagged Lego pieces and the app. Yes, it runs on the iPad2 (not 1. It needs the camera) I am still playing with it. Some observations: 1. Next to no text. Even the app is all icon-driven. 2. Fun. Lots of pressure to build fast. It works great. 3. I can't figure out how to make multiple users on a single device. Gonna be battling my wife and sister-in-law for it. Will report back when I get more time with it.
  21. A suggestion, friend: If you decide to publicly critique be prepared to have your comment critiqued. And I applaud the people who have responded for using more tact and grace towards you than you did towards our OP.
  22. I buy the Lego sets because of the quality. I have purchased licensed competitor kits and been horrified by the quality. It is heartbreaking watching a three year old stacking competitor bricks only to have them fall apart because their quality control is so bad. We couldn't even make a "wall" for her Humpty Dumpty because the wall would collapse. If these upstarts keep up with the quality and design their own models -- GREAT! If they can deliver tight quality control and clever designs for less money they deserve the business. But if they're just charging less for low quality knock-offs then I steer clear.
  23. If I am not mistaken he is an artist who is fascinated by buildings in decay. He decided to use Lego as a medium for the challenge. Remarkable work. I wonder if he is still using Lego or has moved on to another medium.
  24. I think I'd rather see Lego release a mediocre "new" product rather than re-release a great "retired" product. Each release is a step into the future. Just look at the designs of those 1990's sets that, at the time, were considered "great" and you realize we are taking baby steps each release towards more and more remarkable products. But good luck on your endeavor.
  25. Will you let us know when it is done? I think there are some discussion points that I don't wish to "poison" your data with.
