  1. *wub* and that's all i can say at this time. I'm curious to see what the end result will look like.
  2. I've got my moments ;-)
  3. As my brother already said, it's me holding the ship. :-P And i know i have a lot of hair captain. It's just me being piraty/hippie just make your pick between the two ;-)
  4. I agree with phred. I love this ship *wub* The way you caught the shape and curve is impressive. I'm looking forward to your future creations captain X-D
  5. I have to agree with my brother. I think the size of the cathead should be a maximum of 2x2. Your gunports are 3x3 so just look at the difference in size between the cathead and the gunport on the pic of the real ship you posted to see what i mean ;-)
  6. Thank's for the suggestions phred *sweet* I used the same technique as you on my masts and that worked out perfect. As for the gunports' you confirmed my thougts on the hinge plates. Thank you for that, I really needed a second opinion :-P Do you happen to have a close-up of the technique you used for making your decks accessible? :-$ I'm a bit stuck on that part. I'm currently building the decks so that they can come of as a whole but it doesn't work out to well. Btw your suggestions were more than helpful ;-) As for Joey's question of her staying together here's a pic of showing how sturdy she really is ;-) The officers cabin's will be built in the rear part of the ship and the crew will be sleeping on the gun deck. And answering two questions at once Her name is L'étoile meaning the star and therefore she is a french ship *sweet*
  7. After a long pause, I got some work done on the ship today. I completely rebuilt the bowsection of the part I already had built before. here's a pic: and here's the old bow for comparison: other than that I put in a cannon to see how it works out. and here's the gunport but I'm not completely happy with the way these are looking Tell me what you guys think and suggestions are always welcome ofcourse *sweet*
  8. The main problem i had was not having all of the legobricks that have ever been made in the program. This caused me to build around certain problemareas like the bow and stern etc.. It's also the main reason why i started designing really big ships. And then you stumble onto another major issue. Namely the number of bricks which can be used to build something with. 10000 is the maximum number i got to use before the program started jamming up. Those are the two main problems you can have with LDD. The first one is "avoidable" and the second one is as well, just as long you are not building big
  9. As with my ship it really shows the size of this behemoth ;-) But hey that's why we're doing it. impressive job phred *y* I just have a few questions though. - Are the spar deck walls really that high? - What's that ingenous technique you used for your masts? and last but not least - How big is your capstan going to be once it's finished? Anyway keep up the good work *wub*
  10. There's a fifth part ? X-O I didn't even know that. What's it called then?
  11. The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy-So long and thanks for all the fish. by Douglas Adams It's a bundle of the 4 books in one big book. It is one of the best books i've read so far. *wub*
  12. M&C is by far the most accurate ship-related movie ever made. The Hornblower movie (not the series) being a close second. other than those two i have a small list of great pirate-related movies -Captain Blood -Captain Kidd -The crimson pirate -Blackbeard
  13. I'm currently building a frigate at minifig-scale. it will be about 180 studs long with bowsprit and 40 studs at the widest point. It will count 44 cannons, 250-300 crewmembers and hopefully be done somewhere next year.
  14. Could it be that the problem doesn't lay with vista but with something else? For instance do you have the newest version of quicktime player installed? I'm asking this because my dad has a vista laptop as well and LDD works fine on that one. Btw the email support for LDD takes ages to reply ;-) hope this helpes a bit
  15. The gundeck will be removable even though i still need to figure out a good way to do this without weakening the construction. So if anybody has any ideas they're always welcome. The cabins you can see now aren't the ones where deckofficers used to sleep. The smaller one will be the gunner's store room and the larger one will be the sickbay ;-) Den Haag is a bit far away for my liking :-P i'll just try Brussels.
  16. I didn't get the chance to do much work on the ship this week but today i finished the ruff shape of the part that's a little above and under the waterline. *sweet* Here's a couple of new pics : The red 3x1 bricks are indicating where the gunports will be coming And again one with my dog to see how much it has grown. I'm not fully happy about the stern yet but i need red plates to finish it. And as always money is a serious issue :-P Btw those medical supplies are awesome. I hope I would be able to get my hands on them sometime.

I love this little ship *wub* the building technique is brilliant. And it gave me a good idea for the barges on my frigate . thanks Mr Slyowl :-$ Btw the telescope is pretty amazing as well
  18. I agree with the captain. this is a great idea *sweet*
  19. Congratulations Benk you have got a wonderful entry there ;-) And congratulations to Bonaparte as well for his entry. Both deserved to win *sweet*
  20. What kind of parts are these? Do you happen to have a pic of just this part Phred? BTW i hope you are enjoying your morning coffee :-P
  21. Here's a not so good picture of me :-P
  22. I didn't know until you asked Mister Phes So i did some research on BL and i found out it comes from the castle and vikings theme. Mostly the latter one though ;-)
  23. As requested a (old)pic of my old admiral *sweet* the torso will be different in time though ;-)
  24. Here are some new pics *sweet* This one depicts the quite empty sickbay (the part with the cables hanging over it ) This one show the portholes for the ankercables And this one is a small surgeons cabinet with some tools. A bigger one will be built soon. Sorry for the blurry pics but my camera ,well ........ it sucks :-$ :-P
