  1. Harry Oldman here.
  2. 1. I have played a number of games on Eurobricks. 2. Seeing as how the Swedish Alps were blown to smithereens, I don't appear to have an excuse. 3. I'm imagining you, a cement block, and a deep body of water.
  3. 11: 10 12: 6 15: 4 7: 3 18: 2 14: 1 I could've put my top 3 in any order, they were my favorites. The next group had 4 or 5 I really liked. Hard to pick between them!
  4. Not in several of the spots I'll be going, actually. Inconceivable!
  5. Hooray! Mafia's back! I'd love to be a part of this but will be travelling a fair amount until early August. You should ping some of the previous participants who may not be visiting this forum.
  6. I used to keep the tiny sprue from transparent 1x1 rounds and use them as gemstones.
  7. I really like how you used the 1x1 round tiles between floors to add a little texture to what is normally just a functional layer.
  8. Not at all, it was a very good play. I think that scum mayors should always discard town policies because, and this was one of the problems with this game... there was no way for town to ever figure out what the mayors were doing. When I got 3 scum policies at the end of the deck, yes it put some spotlight on you, but it also put spotlight on 3 others who were all town. It strikes me that it's extremely easy to erode trust in this game, and extremely hard to restore trust. Just a little thing here and there makes the difference. I felt like as town we just had to guess at things and hope we were right. Scum could actually plan and coordinate.
  9. Nicely done, scum! There was this niggling thought in the back of my head that jluck was the GF, but at some point you just have to try things. I'll have more thoughts later.
  10. I'm tempted to vote with Edward for the same reasons (it's not me), but I'll vote Yes. Michael asked Bob for the alignments of each player to be revealed, which doesn't really help scum.
  11. You left Patricia out. Any particular reason? I must say, it's funny to have gone from "No way Ralph get's picked!" to "Thank goodness it's Ralph!".
  12. She was the proposed mayor but not part of the government as chosen by the community. As I understand the rule, the person who actually decided which cards to pass on is the only one officially the mayor for that day.
  13. The rules state pretty clearly that neither the mayor nor the TCC can be a member of the previous day's government. Heck, it's bolded in rule 2, and the previous day's government would be you and Joshua regardless of our voting.
  14. Sucks about Erik. Even if he'd been a regular scum that would've been at least a tolerable kill. I agree with others that Ralph is probably town. He wouldn't have revealed Joshua as scum if he were on the same team. Robert is also clearly town since Joshua would've had no need to justify picking a mafia policy over a town one. If they were both scum, then they'd have just lied about what they saw. So we've got two days where we can avoid having the GF elected TCC by picking Ralph and then Robert. Here's the card situation: Day 6: 3 scum cards, 1 from the reshuffled deck. 11 start - 3 chosen - 1 from the reshuffle = 7 remaining 0 town cards 6 start - 3 chosen = 3 remaining Day 7: Lindsey/Erik - 3 scum cards (at most 1 town) -> 4 scum/3 town or 5 scum/2 town We know Erik was telling the truth about getting 2 scum cards. Day 8: Robert/Joshua - 2 scum/1 town -> 2 scum/2 town or 3 scum/1 town There are 4 cards left in the deck, which means we're almost guaranteed to get 1 town card tomorrow. If we get 2, then we know for a fact that the last card is a scum card and we need to take a chance on the reshuffle.
  15. This. Joshua isn't the GF. We have 10 players remaining. You can take a shot and we should still have a majority of townies voting. Erik... every one of us can say "I know I'm town so don't kill me." Not terribly helpful. My guess is that the GF has been playing middle of the road, relatively quiet and as townie as possible when commenting. They're not going to stick out. I'm pretty WIFOM on who it could be.
  16. As you state right here, we have multiple paths to victory. Kill the GF and pass two town policies are multiple paths. You have simultaneously prevented the latter while advancing the scum's agenda. Being truthful about Anne doesn't make you town. For all sorts of scummy reasons...
  17. And here you're sowing misinformation. Voting down this government does not prevent Joshua from being selected as mayor by random chance or as TCC by the next selected mayor. The TCC can't be a member of the previous government, but a failed vote doesn't count for that, AFAIK. I would be happy with either Edward or Joshua as mayor. Myself, too, of course, but I understand why people wouldn't trust me. Of course, I've been one of the few people this entire time to suggest that people think beyond the group think that everyone else has followed. If that's scummy, so be it. I think there are 4 scum based on the Secret Hitler rules available at BGG. This is not the first time I've suggested it but it's the first time anyone has had any qualms with the suggestion. The rules there suggest a game of 10 have 6 townies. I don't think Edward and Lindsey are both scum because of Day 1, so I'm comfortable with Edward. I disagree with the idea that Scott is necessarily town because Lindsey wanted to kill him. He's AWOL, so his absence doesn't hurt anyone and it would've left the situation with Ralph/Joshua/Anne unresolved. I think the reason Scott hasn't been booted from the game is because he's scum. I don't agree with this suggestion at all. This is exactly when the scum would want to get the GF in power because it ends the game a day earlier than otherwise. Once they've passed 5, it doesn't matter which scum is the TCC as long as they get 1 scum policy. They pass it, they win. That said, I did not suggest that Joshua is the GF. The worst thing that can happen is that the GF is the TCC and we lose. The next worst is what you describe with a scum mayor, who then has control over who dies. That is actually pretty bad. We need to make sure we have a town mayor.
  18. I don't trust Robert and after reading through a bunch of the past days I just feel uncomfortable with him. Call it a gut feeling if you want. I can't really say that I have any sort of hard evidence or smoking gun on this. I reread his calling out of Ralph yesterday for his scummy no vote, and it just didn't seem genuine. I really wish more people would elaborate on their opinions here about folks. If we assume that Ralph and Lindsey are both scum for now, then that leaves 2 other scum out there. I've got more suspicions than I do trusts, which may just be the nature of this game. Regardless, I don't like the way today is going. It seems like every time we go with the majority opinion it's wrong. If you're so confident this is the right move, why haven't you voted?
  19. I vote No. There's something not right here.
  20. I'd like to encourage people to vote SLOWLY. We're getting to the point where we really need to think through this. So... Anne was town. Lindsey didn't have any issue switching her vote, and overall didn't seem to care much who was killed. I still think Lindsey is scum. Betsy being town should've been obvious based on the fact that Scott has been kept around despite not being here.
  21. It's much too late to use down voting as a means to figure out who's on which team. We're at the point now where we need to vote in the people we most trust. We should've been down voting governments at the beginning, just for the sake of seeing who nominated who and delaying the process. As it is, we don't have a record of who chose who to look back on. Why are you completely ignoring the possibility that Lindsey could've discarded a town policy? There are four people other than you and Ralph who had an opportunity to do so, but you're focused on just three of them. Also, how is it any different for a godfather to discard a town policy than any other scum? There isn't any way to definitively confirm who dropped them. Of course they would drop a town policy to pass along two scum policies. If they don't know the alignment of their TCC, they'll want to doubly make sure the scum policy gets passed. Heck, it's entirely possible that Patricia is scum and just hasn't had a choice in what she passed. All this is saying is that it's possible he's the GF, but what we're looking for is a reason to think one player is more likely to be GF than another. There's no reason to think Robert is GF over anyone else... unless you are scum and chose him deliberately. But in that case, I'd think you'd still pick a teammate as TCC, ensure a mafia policy gets passed, then try to clear the GF for later election. I don't see any reason to take that comment more seriously than his fish comment. It's WIFOM of the highest accord. If he's regular scum, he'd certainly prefer to be killed over the real GF. This is a bit confusing but I think I get what you're saying. Assuming you're town, he either investigated you and lied about the result or found a scum teammate and then made up the story about you. In Secret Hitler, it would have been impossible for the former to happen since the investigation target is public to all parties, so I hope that our host isn't allowing him to lie about who he investigated, just the result. Why did you think Robert was scum with Ralph? Because he asked you to be investigated? I don't think there's much getting around the notion that one of you or Ralph is scum and killing Anne will let the GF claim to the one who's revealed as scum. If we kill Ralph and he's town, we've got two confirmed scum the GF can claim to. We have no confirmed townies. If we kill Anne and she's town, we've got one confirmed scum the GF can claim to. We have one confirmed townie, you. There's not one bit of difference between the two for scum, but a world of difference for town. Oh look, here comes Robert saying just that... There you go! Anne is plenty capable of handling herself without the advice of teammates. If Anne is killed and comes up town, we kill Ralph next. His crazyness could just be to throw everyone off. Except... I don't think Lindsey has any intention of changing her selection. We won't have a chance to crosscheck the kills in any meaningful way. Ishmael for dinner! Woot!
  22. FWIW, I think the scum team is Joshua, Lindsey, Scott, with Anne as GF.
  23. We have to kill Anne. Anne is the only player we have any reasonable expectation might be the godfather. In the case that Joshua is scum, he investigated Anne as town in order to reveal himself as scum and unite the GF with the rest of the scum team. There's really no other case to be made for anyone else as potentially the GF. I believe that either Anne is the GF or Anne is town. I think it's extremely unlikely that Joshua (as scum) would clear another known scum in this way and not use it on the Godfather. The whole point of the scum's second win condition is to get the GF elected later in the game, so clearing the GF would be a good way to do that. If Joshua is not scum, then Anne is town and killing her will not end the game, at which point we'll know two things: 1. that Joshua is really town, and 2. that Ralph is really scum. You can make a case for literally anyone else being the GF, but you can't make any sort of argument for one over the other. Killing Scott is complete bollocks, btw.
  24. You do not trust Eric and you vote yes, despite the fact that you know 2 scum, 1 town is most likely. You trust Lindsey, despite the fact that she was installed as mayor by someone you now think is scum. As has been pointed out, the call for Lindsey as mayor wasn't as strong as it appeared, and I'm sure it wouldn't have been that hard to justify selecting someone else. Lindsey is the only one who passed two 2 cards along, which means there is also a chance that she actually drew 3 town cards. By your own logic, Day 1 was going to be a town card no matter who was installed in the government. The only thing we really learned from day 1 is that you and Lindsey are not both scum. I chose Lindsey because I feel like she's the most town looking, but there are certainly ways for her not to be. Why does everyone think that disagreeing with the majority is scummy, particularly when only 1 person is doing it. Honestly, the constant group think we've had is going to be our downfall. The lack of disagreement is more scummy than anything else going on. Maybe I'm paranoid, but the fact that we're in such agreement is quite disturbing to me. To me, Ralph looks less scummy for having his own opinion than just going along with everyone else. What we know: - Ralph and Joshua are not on the same team, obviously because of the investigations - Only 4 town cards were claimed publicly, so 2 were hidden Conclusion: whichever of Ralph or Joshua are scum hid one town policy. Conclusion: one of Edward, Lindsey, Michael, and Christina (me), hid the other town policy Those 4 passed 3 different sets of cards to their TCC: 1 of each: Edward, Michael 2 town: Lindsey 2 scum: Christina At least one of us 4 is lying. It's not me, and the idea that Lindsey passed 2 town cards suggest she really wanted town to pass whatever Patricia was. Therefore, Lindsey and Patricia are not both scum. I suppose it's possible now that I think about it, that Lindsey got 3 town cards.
