I want two each of the castle/Ford Anglia and Quidditch sets. My goal is to create a better Whomping Willow. And for Quidditch, I want to make two ends of a field :) I noticed that when it comes to the stands, Slytherin and Ravenclaw have a different stand than Gryffindor because it does not have a hook thing. Psh, and they sacrifice our Hufflepuff stand as the one that will have a scoreboard on it? Haha, I'm just kidding. It's no biggie. I only trust us Hufflepuffs with the score anyway. The beige sand is a nice touch! Ugh, I LOVE the bridges/arches in the Hogwarts Express and Castle sets.

As much as I love Harry Potter and Legos and the combination of them, I predict 2 waves at most before this brand retires again for a few years. Back in 2011, they had only two waves; the second wave being the Battle of Hogwarts and Forbidden Forest sets only. After that, there were no more. It could be that they only stopped because there were no more movies. I do hope I am wrong though! I would love many many sets with all the towers and turrets of Hogwarts!

hey! i hope you are right that if it is a detailed Hogwarts, it would have some interior too!
also, i think it's fun to see us all debating whether or not the D2C will have a great hall. we are so passionate. we find reasons as to whether or not it would have it...and we want to be right because we prefer the D2C to be a certain way. Haha :)

I too have been pondering if it will be an Architect-type set but hopefully this is not the case. The 2010 Great Hall is on my desk...I love looking at it when I'm working; seeing Harry and everyone in there makes me happy. A closed up, tiny set would not be the same.

These aren't lego, but the castle was sold in parts for the 3D puzzle: Part of the fun of the old HP sets were collecting numerous sets and then putting them together. I'm really crossing my fingers for ONE Great Hall. Buuuuuuut if there ends up being two Great Halls...I could live with it! I'd just be happy HP is back and I probably could mod one Great Hall into a tower.

I recently put together the greenhouse from the Order of the Phoenix set and i LOVE the little thing SO much! It is not a big or flashy set but I surprisingly fell in love with it. It is so small and cozy!

I would hope there is no Great Hall in the D2C set; but I'm not that educated as to how Lego markets their stuff so I would not be surprised if they included a Great Hall too. My guess is TLG is hoping to sell lots of the $100 set. And then they would make a D2C contain the least coveted sections of Hogwarts...for the more intense collectors who want ALL of Hogwarts. Imagine if the D2C is just a detailed, mini model of the castle set on a large piece of rock. LOL. I never was interested in Brickheadz much. They never interested me....but as a Harry Potter fan and a Lego fan, I will get them! hahaha.

As for the Willow itself, Year 3's is SO much better looking. They can have it near the castle but please base the tree design off of POA's!

Thanks, Etelenzos for putting all the faces in one shot for us! The "determined" alternate faces of the old sets were nice, but I am LOVING the scared expressions! I'm sure they will give Hermione one too! hahaha.

The sets back in 2002 and 2011 were priced 11.99 and 19.99 euros respectively. The latter set did contain two more minifigures but the stand was much smaller. At 39.99, I am hoping we get more stands or Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw robes. (Oh! The other day at Universal, I saw they sold SEEKER shirts for each House with: Potter, Malfoy, Diggory and Chang on the back!) I surmise since the Seekers are the most popular players, they might choose these four to represent Quidditch robes from each House. But in any case, the more expensive price for a Quidditch set must mean it is a bigger set in some way! :)

I'm excited because a Whomping Willow set priced at a high $70 will mean a pretty intricate and well-done tree! (I'd hate for it to look ugly, flimsy, and cheap looking.)

@Nabii - Thank you for doing such an awesome job on the Great Hall! I'm crossing my fingers that you get to design more Hogwarts castles so they are consistent with your style! Do you know if any designers at TLC keep a portfolio online? I could flip through pages and pages of preliminary designs of Hogwarts! teehee. Oh, one more thing: I know I have been a pretty tough critic when it comes to the Lego Harry Potter sets...just know that that is because I put you guys at a super high standard! :) And that is a good thing! One last thing I promise: I thought, "how can TLC ever fit four long tables in the Great Hall?" And upon seeing how you split four tables in the set like that, I thought....GENIUS!! Thank you for including Hufflepuff <3

Did anyone notice there are 9 columns of windows in the Toy Fair version, and only 8 in the press release? The things I like about the press release version are not in the toy fair version and vice versa. LOL

This seems the best way to do it. In the second film, the original Whomping Willow WAS surrounded by some castle:

It seems the Potter LEGO brand ever hit it big so it had to be revived twice. I'm hoping with the new theme parks around the world, it will help push sales and numbers.

I don't mind the gray too much. Reminds me of the clock tower...my favorite set ever! I have the original basilisk so that snake is very disappointing. it doesn't look menacing or anything. it looks better off being the snake skin they find outside the Chamber...LOL

The Great Hall could use more height. As someone else mentioned, the big tower needs the little towers coming out of the turret. But otherwise, this is so exciting! You guys have been mentioning a D2C? I do not know exactly what that is, but my guess is that it is another big set? I am just hoping for many many big Hogwarts sets so I can put them altogether! I swear, that girl looks like Ginny.....but you guys are right: that is definitely a yellow torso!! YAY HUFFLEPUFF!!!!

Hearing news of the new big set to be JUST the Great Hall, I thought, "no way! They have to put at least the big tower in there too." But then I realized, the first Great Hall from 2001 only had one long table. The 2010 Great Hall had two but it went perpendicular to the length of the hall so it is not movie AND book accurate. So, if this set will only include the Great Hall, then maybe finally we will see all four long tables and I HOPE it is an enclosed set!

They made a commercial so hopefully it boosts sales to persuade them to make more sets! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSohO28iqw4

In the film, it seems the tunnel leading to the Chamber of Secrets where Ron and Lockhart get stuck are on the same level. So if you want to save from building so high, two levels is good enough and more accurate :D

Pfft, no wonder they have a sale for buy one get one 50% off lego sets. What's the difference if they marked up the prices anyway?
-
Sorry, I should've been more specific, since I haven't gotten the new set yet but Lego.com had the instructions, I wanted to see if I could build the new Hogwarts with the pieces of the old one. I looked over the pieces and it looks like I could make the Great Hall only but it would be missing the windows haha!
-
Just curious, has anyone tried to build the new Hogwarts Castle with the old sets? I am going to attempt but some pieces are unique or rare that this might be a fail attempt. XD When it was announced there would be a "Battle for Hogwarts" set, I immediately thought of the first Deathly Hallows poster of Hogwarts with flames. I imagined the set was going to be of Hogwarts with missing roofs and crumbled walls. Thank goodness Lego did not do this. I don't want to display the new Hogwarts with crumbling walls LOL!
