Effe's MOC Corner
MRP_ replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
now you know Effe, you're legally required to make a crawler with the Porsche body... (preferably with the new xerion tires...) -
[MOC] Telehandler

I agree we see alot of these, but personally they're one of my favorite "genres". They are so simple in essence, but leave so much room for creativity and can generally be a kind of beautiful! This is no exception! also btw don't be so quick to assume my grandma went straight to trophy trucks -

WOW! For a first, this is amazing! If I were you I would skip the subtractor, other than the experience gained from building them they don't help much. the crane idea sounds cool, but if you want to stay simple, just adding more bodywork is always the way I go. either way great job, and welcome aboard! -

nvm how was this convention? were you able to build some more "bodywork" before the kids saw it? btw I'll be honest I just took 5 minutes to sit and look at this thing, and I'm only now truly realizing how ingenious this is -

(HELP) Buggy motor setup
MRP_ replied to Lego2016Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If you can afford, Definetely 8475! I've had my eye on one for about 3 years now, and haven't truely found a deal, but if you have the money, it's worth it. -
This is really great! I know the purists won't like it, but it's nice to see someone using lego as a platform for other things! Very creative! Also thanks for taking one for the team to prove the whole "lego can't handle brushless" argument!

Ugh, need to take a break from all the porsche stuff, it's getting tiring. It would be nice to have the top topic not be porsche related for literally ANY amount of time. It seems every time I refresh my browser, I have 10s of notifications about the Porsche. Jim would you consider merging the review and speculation topics, or no? Having both is kind of suffocating me. Typo -

I think you have the right idea though, maybe a system of machines that all build different pieces of eachother, and some that assemble them. I don't think it's a one man, er, robot job. Maybe like this it's possible. But to have a single machine able to make itself, It would become infinitely complicated, in order to make itself it would need precise tools, and to make those precise tools, it would need even more precise tools, and to make those etc etc etc, like roppie11 said Also I changed my mind can I have my legs back I kind of underestimated how much I need them -

Well not nescesarily, if you made some machine that had kind of extendable legs, maybe you could make a machine that could stand up tall and build a machine down against the ground, that could then drive out from under it when finished, and stand up to build another? Like just have a machine that is just able to stand barely around itself in fully compacted form, instead of building inside itself. It would be more complicated, and still quite large, but it would be possible... In theory at least... Wait no nvm I just understood what you said yeah it's impossible -

Cool! Could you try any other eye designs, or did you? Maybe something more flat to the sides? Just wondering, the current ones stick out alot... -

No I don't mean interchangable, but they just are the same relative size as individual wholes -

Well it's definetely possible, but it would have to be huge, and even bigger if it's to do anything usefull alongside reproducing... Also I made up my mind here ya go Also can we please not make skynet/ultron
