  1. I'm from Germany. Oh well exactly from the munich region in southern Bavaria. So`I'm not too far away from the alps. Just 50km-80km north of them and just 100km to austria. Now that's it that's the christmas market. Only thing missing at the moment, due to warm air, is the snow (not my pic) Not to mention the Olympic stadium from 1972's summer olympics. (viewed from the 291m high olympic tower (pic taken Mid-march 2007) The skyline, far south only visible if there are Foehn winds ;-) And Munich is the only mayor city in germany (over 1 Million population), where you can go cross country skiing in most of the winters, if there's enough snow. However custom trails, but who cares. DOn't want to move away from here Bavaria ON! (OMG the ON! virus has caught me) mFg Widdi
  2. My nickname has a quite long history. It was my nickname at school from the 5th grade (back in 1999) onwards. I first used it with the term RCT, in a german coaster game community page and NL at two english coastersim pages, and I'm still using it there. Then I used just WIddi in brickshelf and so on maj.com and now in any forum, I'm using. Including this forum and a german weather and scenic photography forum. And Widdi is just a cut version of my real family name, but with -di in the back. It's an old nickname, since it's in use since 8 years now with two variations. mFg Widdi
  3. Working from 5 am to 3 pm, due to christmas and so much to do in the bakery. later driving home, and on the way bought a skiing suit cheap@ALDI S

    My sigs lodge

B-RV-5A This is the extensive thread to my MOC for the EB neighbourhood contest. my sig lives in the mountains way up north and at a high altidude with an snowy and cold climate. And the only way to get up there is by 4x4 or with snow chains, best with a snow scooter. The house, a former lodge, is located besides a mountain structure, which includes a cave for my sigs tool rack (ski, search light and a shovel), since there was no room for it in or near the house. He also has two vehicles: An old 4x4 pickup with high ground clearance and a snow scooter for funny rides. The House Pt.:1 This is just the whole scene. My sig is doing some recreational skiing in the area the whole interior with living room, kitchen (natural-gas-stove so the grilles), bedroom and office and of course the cave. right side view look at the mailbox and the bell knob Left side view Choose your ride: 4x4 or snow scooter Time to have some fun with the scooter Just driving down to the city with his old Pickup The Car: It is just your classic high ground clearance City truck, basing on the 1989 tow truck the car from the side. Including the tank cap It's very high above ground, but needed for such rough climates the engine. It's complicated to fix it, since the car sits so high above The House Pt.:2 Mostly individual interior shots of the five rooms HUH were are the vehicles??? Just my sig, as he wants to listen to some music This is my sig writing something into a forum He needs a partner, since there are two beds in the bedroom DANG where's my lighter. Damned natural gas stoves This is my sig while looking for his skis. UPDATE: The Lpub Instructions are done now, for the house entitled Casetta, since I've got an old 50s Schlager entitled "Casetta in Kanada" in my mind, every time I'm looking at it: Here you go: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=287776 mFg Widdi
  5. B-RV-5A Well I guess it's my turn now, ;-) My house isn't that huge, it actually was formerly used as a lodge. It lies in the mountains way up north, and is in a snowy climate. It actually can only be reached, by 4x4 or if you have snow chains to visit my sig. he actually has two vehicles. One is an older pbikup with high ground clearance and the other a snow scooter. And the home has 80s written all over it, using older pieces and having a turntable in the living area. Only the computer room is more state-of-the art, but using Computer pieces from early 90s This is my sig's home. I had to dig out the roof lately, due to too much snow. (use this as vote pic) The interior. Just a kitchen, a living room with a red turntable, and above a tool cave, bedroom and office Choose your ride. Pickup or snow scooter? I gotta have some fun in the mountains around :-) After that some writing in the forums Not to mention the small tool cave, including skis, searchlight and a shovel for digging out and off mFg Widdi PS: I made a thread in the MOC forum, too with all pictures and detail shots:http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...showtopic=12588
  6. Being a bit late, but I'll enter the contest. Since the deadline is in mid january, I'll have enough time to work something out, as I just knocked up a sig-fig. It will be more or less have landscaping in form of snow (so white plates, bricks, etc.), but now hite roof, since I'm lacking white slopes Just have to think around with the design. Update: It'll be more like a mountain lodge with a snowy rock structure just left of the House, including two vehicles (4x4 Pickup truck and a snowmobile) and the most important: good old 80s/early 90s style Update 2: Added it to the entries mFg Widdi
  7. ok here's mine. I just knocked him up today. He is just your ordinary city guy, in a more or less winter outfit (see hands). As I'm crazy all over for winter and of course snow. the Fig bases a bit on my User Picture from last sunday, but in Classic Town style, Including older torso pieces etc. I'm using him in the avatar, too. Pictured him lying on my white night table mFg Widdi
  8. I went to the Spitzing lake area last weekend. There was a lot of powder snow with about 75 centimetres in the valley (at 1085m asl.) and approximately 150 centimetres at the Upper Firstalm lodge. I went there with my chase partner and our cameras, of course. I drove from my hometown to my chase partner's and picked him up there at 10:45 am Then we drove to the Spitzing area and had to search a while for a parking site, due to ski season opening. Sadly some pictures are damaged due to a SD-card crash on the ride down. Some pictures in the report are taken from my chase partner's lot. 1st. Ascend to the Spitzing saddle After finally getting a parking site, we began to hike along the frozen over lake up to the saddle. it wasn't all that easy since I took my swiss-made sled with me pulling it up and over the masses of snow. Scenic view at the shores of the frozen over Spitzing lake The village as seen from the lake Stuempfling mountain from below the 1683m high Brecherspitz mountain from the valley Bodenschneid mountain (1668m asl.) from the valley global warming? No! more like a new ice age Lots of snow all around the area The complete village in the view sunlighted winter forest, sorry for the frame in the lower part Lots of snow on the Spitzing saddle (courtesy of my partner) Taubenstein mountain as seen from the saddle 2nd. Ascend to the Upper Firstalm lodge at 1370m asl. Later we hiked up a 2,5 km forest trail and ascended about 250 metres. There was much traffic going on, tobogganers, skiers and finally some hikers, due to great snow and weather conditions (permanent frost at max -3
  9. I've got an updated Picture from me. Well just in terms of scenery and pose. It is a posed picture with my swiss-made sleigh and me in front of a great snowy alpine scenery, taken in the spitzing area in the Bavarian alps, on sunday 18-11-2007. Including great weather and up to 1,5 metres of powder snow all over the ridge. Credits go to my chase partner. Another factor, why I'm in love with the winter and of course the snow, it's just so fotogenic *y* Winter ON!!! yes it's me the sled dude with sunglasses mFg Widdi PS: Report written.

  11. And this is why I'm addicted to the winter and of course snow. This posed picture is from last sunday at 1360m asl. in the alps. Thanks to my chase partner, for photographing me. The snow wall nearby is just about 1,5m high, now even higher, I think. Looking a bit like a snowboard dude, i know, it's because i don't like dark clothes! mFg Widdi
  12. For a city set, these are disappointing. But they somewhat remind me of the Basic series from 80s-early 90s. These were some kind of Creator sets, too but with much better pieces. I think I'll pass on these, since they look to much like 4+ to me. mFg Widdi

    City House

B-RV-2D I've CADed another nice minifig home recently. it's obviously based on sets like 6349 from 1988. The house can be populated with up to 3 minifigs, since there are beds in the upper floor for 3 persons. The lower floor has, the err garage, a kitchen, a living room and an entryway, where I've included a small LEGO record player, which can actually be spun. I've included a car and outside a barbeque, too. And as with all my classic City-style buildings it has an open backside for playability this is the Cad-MOC in all it's glory. The whole scene is as always just squeezed on a 32x16 plate. This is the turntable as stated above, since my minifigs need some music, as well a Cd-player wouldn't really fit as nice to an oldschool LEGO house. I'll rebuild this home to Real bricks, when I find the time. Full Instructions here ,When moderated mFg Widdi
  14. I went to Spitzing lake at 1085m asl. today, to apprx. a half metre of snow. and 75cm on the higher Upper Firstalm lodge. I'll only post a few pics out of the report here and the rest is in a german weather forum (Sorry german only, but the pictures do justice) This is my foot while judging the snow accumulation. it got to almost my knee, so 40-50cm of snow. Snowy house above the lake's shoreline. snow alien ;-) After my walk around the lake (3km), I just had to get higher, so I walked up the trail to the Upper Firstalm lodge, where 75cm of snow awaited me and a nice meal. After that I didn't walk back down, no I lent me a sleigh and sled down. this is actually the date of the pictures written into the snow Winter Wonderland This was my "cab" downwards Full report here (german): http://wettercommunity.foren-city.de/topic...pics.html#52988 Full pics in my maj.com mFg Widdi PS: The 235km of car driving was more than just worth the scenery
  15. Well it all depends on the Region, where you live. i'm in Southern Bavaria and getting often ca. 20cm of snow in an event at 484m asl., since I'm too far from the alps to get their accumulations. In the alps however, there could even come 1m down in a heavy snow event. And sometimes I'm getting 50cm of snow, like on 03-05-2006 when a heavy snowstorm struck the region. Northern germany gets much less, than we, because they're too low and too near to the coasts. the mountain ranges if low, or medium get snow depending on the height and snowfalls. mFg Widdi
  16. I had to be in Munich yesterday (19-10-2007), due to work. I went to the southern Munich region at 700m asl., like I often like to do. first I had planned to take some snowy pictures in the Afternoon, but rain showers prevented me. The rain transformed into snow after 7 pm. so I took some pictures of the very first snow below 1000m asl. in southern bavaria for the Season 2007/2008. The lightning is not that great, due to darkness, but the snow should be seen falling and laying down. This was taken at the restaurant "Klosterbraeu-Stueberl" in the small village of Kloster Schaeftlarn at 600m asl. The rain transformed into snow just a few minutes before the shot. stary sky, well, almost, just snowflakes indeed ;-) first results on the railroad tracks and huge flakes. Snow cover on the grass. (There were about 2-3cm at this point after just 1 hour of snowing) snowy car (not mine, i'm driving an Opel Astra not an Audi!!) mFg Widdi PS: This region is capable of sometimes around 80-90cm of snow in great winters, due to the high altidute. Normal winters result in up to 40-50cm, and 3 centimetres of snow for a season start isn't bad either.
  17. OMG!!! I'll have to pick up this set next year. I think it will be in the region of the Cafe Corner Set in terms of price, about 140 - 150€. Seems that it comes with 8 minifigs, including 2 females. WOW!!! The truck has even doors. The blue car sadly not, but it looks still great. 2008 ON!!! mFg Widdi
  18. Today, I went into the neighbour county for some coffee and cake at Konditorei Herb in Pfaffenhofen, bavaria. By car, of course. Then I went to the local carwash for a cleanup before winter. And I have to get back to munich tonight, due to school tomorrow. mFg Widdi

    City 2008

oh yes. it seems that I just have to get most of the city sets, but then I'll get some extreme problems to store them. Seems that I`ll have to do some radical disassembling (except big and beloved sets) soon, just to get room. I'll have to go out and get me another storage box. 2008 ON!
  20. This is a nice MOC. I especially like the hidden feature, which allows to convert it into an hovercar, since I haven't seen that too often. The only thing I don't really like is the 8-wide constructions. But on the other hand, there are details, which are at least extremly hard to do in 4-wides, if not almost impossible. mFg Widdi
  21. seems that I was wrong with the non-working pictures, since bonaparte managed to get one of these into his reply. I'll try, too with my two favourite pics out of my report Blue Bayou Indian summer: BTW just look at the water @Bonaparte: I've included it, because I like to show my vehicles used to get to the location of the fotos. I did this a few times with my maj.com-Folders and wettercommunity-picture reports, twice with my bike for sunset photography, or my skis after some cross-country in late january 2007. And finally my car, because I've got my driving license since september 2007 mFg Widdi
  22. I've taken some pictures of the Indian Summer in my region. All of the pics were taken at a lake, which was, a gravel quarry ages before now. it developed in the late 30s, when groundwater filled the gravel-pit, which was used for the Munich switching yard. The lake has a nice and clear blue-to dark-green water (depending on the lightning situation and the skies) and is up to 10m deep. The lake and surrounding land was used as a military training area by the US army, from the end of WW II until 1968. Later from 1972 to 1976 it was rebuilt into a recreational area with a seperate biosphere west of the main lake, two restaurants (as of 1998) and beaches almost everywhere around the main Karlsfeld lake. I've got to put the link from a German Weather and Photography forum, since eurobricks doesn't seem to support the 819x614 resolution used in my pictures for this forum. Sorry the text is in german only, but the pictures should mostly explain themselves. BTW: the lake in the town of Karlsfeld near munich is my favourite, smaller (25 hectares) lake around munich. Here it is: http://wettercommunity.foren-city.de/topic...07-17-pics.html Please enjoy, especially the cute pair of ducks in img_1914 and the blue water pictures. mFg Widdi Oops, I've made a typo above. it should not be 7-120-2007, It was 07-10-2007
  23. Same Problem with my BS and maj.com now. I'think there are some serious server Problems, again. I just posted a scenic photography thread in a german-non-LEGO forum yesterday, I wanted to read through it again, but all I get is red crosses at the moment due to a Server Error on both pages. *n* :-X
  24. That's some news, that make me shocked. Ok, I'm not really a trainhead, and only having some sets of the Classic 9V system, but the main problem is I've got only one motor, and if that breaks down I'll get problems due to the system change. Well it keeps running now since 11 years, due to rare use, as I`m a classic townie. But I'll have to go out and get me some more classic motors now, before they get bloody expensive at ebay. I hope that the new system, doesn't use such a huge ugly battery box like the RC system, because of small train vehicles, which don't look right when adding a long 32 stud power car. My classic train 10183 stock/MOC-mix lately, would be messed up by building a battery car with the current huge box, due to the sheer lenght. Another great thing would be backward compatibility with my very old 119 from the early 4,5 volt system back in 1968, which could eventually be obtained with the battery power, but only on rechargable ones. mFg Widdi
  25. BS and maj.com are still down. As both pages are affected, it must be a big server Error. mFg Widdi
