  1. Oh well me and my two-day specials: 03-02-2008 Got up at 6am, since I wanted to go skiing. Got my equipment into the car, then drove to Lenggries (Bavaria) to have skiing fun on the Brauneck mountain, went there all day up and down, forth and back, and was in the valley at 5am, Drove home, went into a greek restaurant for dinner near the train station of my hometown, Later had a shower, relaxed, resized my pictures of the day and wrote the German Report 04-02-2008 Slept until 10am, relaxed and did the English version of my skiing report. After that, just more relaxing. mFg Widdi
  2. Well I didn't really have a Dark age, Im into lego for over 15 years now. The first set, which hooked me was the 1990 Airport, which was my first big set for christmas 1992. Then I kept on going on, but made a break in 2003, where I almost didn't buy LEGO sets for a while. In 2004 I was hooked again, because of the Blacksmith shop, whcih was originally a custom set. Amazingly, a castle set, whcih got me back, altough I'm a townie. Now I'm a bit less active due to my job and other interests, as seen from various winter reports made here and in the german weather forum, where I went cross country or Alpine skiing with my camera, of course mFg Widdi
  3. A great MOC and a nice couple on the bridge. But I would have, rather rendered in LPub, since that looks better. Do you plan to make it in Real Bricks, too? mFg Widdi
  4. An old 33rpm record from the folk group "Die Lustigen Moosacher" from the late 60s. Not exactly my style, but there are two ski songs on it and I'`m hooked on skiing, thanks to the great day at Garmisch Classic resort, yesterday: Next ones: Die Lustigen Moosacher - Schihaserl-Walzer Die Lustigen Moosacher - Meine Schi mFg Widdi
  5. I got up at 6am in my Munich location yesterday. Then I immediatly put on my skiing suit and by 6:40 I headed to my car, took the equipment and then walked to the Main station, where I took the train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The one I took at 7am, was the excursion train "Ski-Express". As I arrived at 8:30am, I was on the mopuntain by 8:45am. 1. On the way to Garmisch On the train ride to Garmisch I could get some morning scenery, with some rime, since warm air chewed the snow away below 750m asl. and on south faces until 1000-1500m asl. These were shot from the moving train, so they may be blurry. Frost and the first mountains, near Murnau Near Farchant: The Wetterstein-range gets in sight. 2. Warming up and training Just after arriving, I went into the ski school building and changed to my ski boots and locked in my ski boot bag and the normal shoes. Then I went up with the Hausbergbahn ropeway, and after that I took the Kreuzwankl-Express chair ,to warm me up on it's rather flat blue runs. First view to the flat pistes and the Alpspitze mountain Rather clear views in the morning Turmoil at the summit of the Kreuzwankl chair and rather snow-free south faces Back light in the forest on the blue piste of the Kreuzwankl-Ski-Express chair View of the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen Scenic view at ca. 1450m asl. This part of the Wetterstein range greets to the Hausberg 3. In the forenoon After the Warming-Up, I went to the further parts of the Garmisch-classic ski resort. First up to the Kreuzjoch (1719m asl.) and later downhill on the red Olympic piste. To get up there I used a chairlift, which was built in 1977, so It's more than 30 years old. I only took the Olympic run down to the Olympic t-bar, a curve lift first. In the chair lift scenic view as seen from the chair lift, just before it got into the forest The amazing curve of this old chair lift Back light on the Kreuzjoch summit The Alpspitze (2628m asl.) This part of the Wetterstein range stares into the reort The mogul slope of the black Kandahar run, It's steeper than it looks View into the valley and to the alpine foothills 4. Two valley runs in a short time Just before noon, i took the upper slope of the black Kandahar piste and the olympic piste to the valley. After that I took the Kreuzeck-ropeway for backing up and then taking the old chair up to Kreuzjoch again, on the black Kandahar run minus the mogul slope to the valley. Due to it's steepness I wasn't able to stop, too often for photos and I had to concentrate well, but made it without a crash. The upper slope of the Kandahar. it's actually steeper than it looks on the picture On the red Olympic ski run Scenic view, just before the run down on the black Kandahar piste At the lower parts of the Kandahar run 5. Osterfelderkopf mountain After the exhausting and challening valley run on the Kandahar, i just made it into the Alpspitzbahn aerial tramway. After the arrival at 2035m asl. I immediatly rested at the summit station of the aerial tramway, after that I went downhill and took the summit t-bar for backing up. Then I unbuckled the skis, took them with me and walked the last few metres up to the actual summit, for some photography. After that I took the fantastic ski runs down from the Osterfelderkopf, which have a stunning scenery. Later the Bernadain-piste, but sorry no photos of that one. In the aerial tramway. View to the Zugspitze (2962m asl.) or a range just in front of it Stunning scenery at 2035m asl. *wub* The Alpspitze (2628m asl.) at close range Scenic view at the summit station. The head got on the photo by mistake Rocky ranges in view The sun partially disappears behind the Alpspitze (2628m. asl) View of the summit station: Just back to the 70s (It was built in 1973) On the actual summit of the Osterfelderkopf (2050m asl.) Scenic view. There's a rock face just below the barrier The piste trails through this two rock faces, and opens out into a kind of bowl View from the small gap rock face with a cave in it (left side) lower but partially vertical rock face 5. On the run down By 3pm, I was able to get the Aerial tramway from the Hochalm lodge back to the Osterfelderkopf, since I had to do the Osterfelderkopf-Abfahrt, due to its stunning scenery. After that I went through the ski resort and backed up to the Kreuzjoch for the 4th time. Then I took the upper slope of the Kandahar, the Kreuzwankl piste back to the Hausberg part of the resort and then down to the valley on the red piste "Dreh" Scenic view after backing up to the Osterfelderkopf The Alpspitze another time Blue hour and nice white-blue skys, It can't be any better Again stunning scenery *y* Some smaller rock structures Icy rock face. The snowboarder drove into my way *n* View into the almost snow-free valley, due to warm air (it was +3
  6. OMG! This looks amazing. I think price-wise it will somewhat between 150€ and 170€ (germany). Seems to be another expensive year for me. mFg Widdi
  7. A two-day special: 25-01-08 got up at 3:30am, made breakfast, then to work by car Worked from 5am to 3:30pm, well enough for a day. After that I drove home with an Detour to Allach, where I got my Bayern-ticket for 26-01-2008 and at Sport bittl the ski boot bag. After that relaxing until 11pm. Then drove back to munich and slept 26-01-2008 Got up at 6am in Munich, put on my skiing gear, then took my equipment out of my car. by 6:40 I walked to the Munich Main station with the skiing equipment and so on. Got into the train at 7am, which brought me directly to the Garmisch-Classic skiing resort. After that I got my ski pass and up to the mountain, where I arrived just before 9am. Had a lot of snow Fun up there (The valley hadn't got much snow, altough being 720m asl.) and great scenery. At 5pm I got back on the train, to munich and drove home after changing clothes. Got a shower, ate something and wrote the german Report (English report following the next days). Now I'm relaxing. mFg Widdi
  8. Got up at 7:30am in munich, rushed to school. Then I was at school until 3pm, after that got back into my Munich location, then took the old P-cars in Munich (a trolley built back in the 60s, sadly in their last year of operation >:-( (shame I love those old cars). Then drove through munich with my car, got out at Sport Bittl in munich, then bought a skiing equipment (373€ including boots, binding assembly and everything else), then drove home, brought the skis into the basement. then relaxing. here it is! Now I'm ready to escape warm air and (We didn't get ANY snow for weeks now, due to the evil Atlantic ocean and it's damned warm air!) mFg Widdi
  9. *wub* This looks like a nice Model-Teamish set, but my only gripe ist, that it hasn't got a steering. The price sounds ok, too with 1000pcs at 120€, altough not breaking the 10/1€ barrier. mFg Widdi
  10. I went to the Wildsch
  11. Again a three-day special Thursday 3-01-2008 Got up early and went skiing in the Wildsch
  12. Hi! My name is Christian and I'm from the Munich area in bavaria: Southern germany. My nick is quite old, since I've had it from 6th grade of High School (Gymnasium in Germany) onwards and I've used it for almost five years now in several Forums. I'm 19 and hooked on LEGO since 1992, when I got my first big set the 6396 International Jetport released in 1990, but my first set ever was the 6503 Racecar from 1988, the year of my birth, which I got as a two-year old lad in 1990, making 17 years into Lego for me. Without any real dark age! My other intrests are Sports: In winter: Skiing (alpine and cross-country) and toboganning In summer: Swimming, Hiking and sometimes Biking and of course Scenic Photography, as seen in several links to my own scenic reports (in German; since put into a german Weather and Scenery forum) and some reports written in a slightly differing English version for EB. mFg Widdi
  13. I`m putting them on the shelf as long as the storage space allows it, but take them apart and take the bricks/parts into my Lego Storage Boxes (unsorted) and building a bigger Moc when I'm into Ideas and LOTS of time. So I checked Other things in the Poll. mFg Widdi
  14. Since there's no snow below 600m asl. in my region at the moment, I decided to drive into the snowy alpine foothills south of munich and east of the river Isar. With my cross-country-skiing equipment, of course. There were about 20-25cm of snow at 680-750m asl. And nice weather opposite to the fog, we have here north of munich at the moment. 1. Humbach-St Leonhard First I skied along the first half of the 8,5 kilometre track, starting in the small village of Humbach at 735m asl to the little church of St Leonhard, which is just above Dietramszell village. The track has nice scenery and offered a view to the alps, due to the clear air above 700m asl. Moraine hill scenery The small church of Humbach village At the start of the trail View to the alps seen from the cross-country-track View to a snowy forest Back light near another forest snowy farm near the track Back light to the alps Hoarfrost on the scrubs Winter forest Winter Wonderland The track. It offers classic style and skating Frozen-over pond below the trees Skiing the track through the winter wonderland Strong hoarfrost on the scrubs Some trees are snow-free, due to the sun View to a village nearby Back light near the village back light shot near another wintry forest More forest views Winter scenery all around the track People having fun on another frozen-over pond The small church of St Leonhard near Dietramszell Field path into the forest 2. St Leonhard-Humbach Just after passing by the little church, i went on the second half of the track. This part was partially much narrower since it winds through a forest, leaving sometimes just enough space for skating tracks, so the classic cross-country-track was partially gone, it is just a little bit too narrow Tractor trails near the forest Magical forest due to the combo of hoarfrost and snow, with the track winding through it View at the edge of the woods Hoarfrost and snow, just the right combo for a winter's day Stunning sky some time before dawn Zoomed to the alps Frozen-over pond just below the track View to the alps, the haze is caused by the inversion Humbach village at dawn 3. After the run: Relaxing in the tavern nearby Just in time with the dawn, I got back to my car, and put in my cross-country skis and went down to the local tavern, for getting a drink and later a Evening meal, since I had to drive to my munich location for sleeping before work, since I had to start working at 1am Late blue hour as seen from the tavern Moonlight, not that great due to cam constraints when photographing in the dark Merry Christmas everyone! *y* mFg Widdi
  15. This time I'm posting a three-day special: Sat: 22-12-2007 Worked from 1 am to 7am, drove to the munich location, slept a few hours: Then heasding out to the flea market in Munich-Riem and got some Records (yes THAT black discs, which were common until at least 15-20 years ago) Including 2 old 78s missing the labels, but heck they were cheap These is the whole lot:4 7" singles from 70s, 2 12" LPs (one from 1970, and one from 1984) and two 10" Shellack from 1900-1950s then home to my parents, had a visitor for tea (which could be my Grandmother, but ain't), later put up the turntable and listened to all the records bought today. Sun: 23-12-2007 Slept until 9am, then some TV and computer, by noon got to my car, drove to the Bad-Toelz county for some cross-country-skiing on a 8,5km trail, then into the local tavern, later into the car driving to munich, slept until 12pm. 16. I got just one set: The 10182 Cafe Corner. I just finished assembling it after 7 hours of building. mFg Widdi
  17. Nice review of this classic town Boat set from 1991. I own this since 1993, but it's shattered in pieces in my brick collection. I especially like the shark, which hasn't been in sets for years now mFg Widdi
  18. I'm Listening to a modern, but by 24th-december very annoying christmas classic from 1984 Wham! - Last Christmas And the track fits somewhat to my latest scenic report! mFg Widdi
  19. Got up at 6:00 am yesterday, since I needed fuel. I started my car at 6:40am and drove down to austria, since they've got lower prices for gasoline then in germany. After the fuel stop, I went up to the valley of the Wildschoenau area at 800-1180m asl, hired my skis and was ready by 9:30 am 1. Ascend to the middle station and some training Just after getting into the cable car (not those SF-trams), but an aerial lift. Got out at 1250m asl, for some training, since It's been over four years since I went downhill skiing. So just some runs on the blue pistes. Pictures taken while ascending and in some short photography breaks View to the south face just above the valley Ascending with the lift snowy ranges all over the place View to the right side scenic view near the middle station View to the valley and the partially snow-free south face Scenery at the blue piste The valley again, this time shot from the blue piste back light above the snowy forest Lodges just below the t-bar to the blue piste Scenery A range behind the forest 2. Ascend to the mountain station and skiing until the afternoon After the training at the blue pistes, I backed up to the middle station and took the cable car up to the summit. Then I went skiing on the red pistes in the upper parts of the Schatzberg range, including crashes X-D , but never got injured, only a face full of snow some times ;-). Pictures taken between noon and ca. 3pm Lodge just below the cable car Wide piste to the valley, seen from the cable car 130cm of powder at 1780m asl. Winter Wonderland 1-3 My skis View into the valley Stunning views all over the ridge taken on the run down to the Hahnkopf chair In the lift: the skis hold tightly! Here comes the sun *sing* Scenic view again, shortly before the second rest at a lodge Contrast: The green Inn valley, to the snowy mountains Zoomed Clear views at 1880m asl. 3. On the run down Later in the afternoon, I skied back to the mountian station of the cable car and then on the connecting piste to the Thalerkogel T-bar. I skied the piste down twice and then down to the middle station with an detour on the blue Hohlriederalm piste. After that, i went on the second part of the valley run, which was icy in the lower parts, causing a crash in the middle of the piste Clear views again at apprx. 1750m asl Wilder Kaiser ridge in the background some haze in the lower grounds, caused by some kind of an developing inversion Beautiful winter views at the Thalerkogel piste the Mountain's shadows moving into the valleys view to the upper range Scenery just before dawn 4. Travelling home to germany After a rough ride on the lower valley slope, I got back to my car at ca. 4pm, for changing shoes and then into the ski rental bringing the hired skis back. After that I stopped at a local supermarket in Oberau, buying a drink and then home to Munich. Blue hour in Auffach village Christmas tree and a view to the mountains. mFg Widdi PS: Winter on!!!!
  20. Today I stood up early (6am) and then drove to austria for getting fuel and sports: EG: Went skiing in the Wildschoenau range. Nice weather and up to 130cm of Snow included. Then drove back home, got a shower, hung up my suit to get it dry from the snow taken with crashes, later reviewed the Pics, uploaded them and some relaxing. mFg Widdi PS: Report to follow shortly PPS: report written since 19-12-2007
  21. My sig hasn't a real story. It is based on a picture, where I was out for a day trip in the snowy bavarian alps in mid-november 2007, 18-11 exactly. And it's just me in my winter outfit, basing on the recent user Picture in the User Pic thread. I made him with classic city parts, since I'm addicted to the good old Lego Style until mid-90s. He turned out as a normal 90s classic city guy. And it's because I love the winter, especially when snowy. I'm using him as avatar, too when i photographed him after constructing on my night table. mFg Widdi
  22. Worked from 5am until apprx. 2pm. Then rushed to the commuter train. Later trying to drive my car home, but it didn't even start up, due to the damn old battery *n* *n* *n* . Had to call my parents, for jump starting it. Worked! Then drove to the local repair shop and changed it. And now I'm relaxing, and by the way hoping for some snow overnight, since it should get colder later this week. Over all a stressy day until the time of Posting mFg Widdi

    Snowmobile

Nice machine, blows away my sig's little classic one. Nice use of parts like the chainsaw blades and the trike body. My sigs scooter is obviously mixed of 1730 and 6577, not this very realistic rendition, like your scooter. Thumbs up and Altough it's rather warm here at the moment: Winter ON! *y* mFg Widdi
  24. nice little V6 Snow speeder. This would great for drag racing, or visiting my sig ;-) . Sinc we all know, that he is living way up north and way up high see MOC folder somewhere in the MOC pages I wouldn't consider using it on water, more on snow and ice. I mean the LEGO minifig in my avatar. Built late November for the Neighbourhood contest. I actually live in the Munich area in Southern Bavaria (Germany), still wouldn't use that vehicle on water. mFg Widdi
  25. Nice house casewindu. It's amazingly detailed for such a cramped building. I especially like the Barber shop and your living room. Your's nice, too highlandcattle MFg Widdi
