You really are too good that this. 8-

Well, I've never seen that done before! :-D Aside from the "hair" is the rest unspoiled? 8-|

Happy birthday guys. I didn't realise Sam89 was so young; I never thought that 89 was when he was born. 8-

Perhaps we could have a speed build competition? This is looking more and more suspicious. I say search Stinky and his stuff! You have gotta be joking Capt'n. It's Budweiser. :-X US beer is weaker than wombat wee....

Glad to be of service! Movies are more fun! Here's the reason why I was looking so happy; I knew that for the next half an hour I was going to be breathing rubberised bottled air. :-X I'll stop spamming your thread now! ;-)

I don't think so. On real military ships (world wide) at sunset something like this is piped; ...and everyone runs around like idiots changing the two position lights switches for most lights so they go from a white light to a red one. (I wouldn't be surprised if newer ships handle this automatically.) This is done not for emergency reasons, but because; 1. Red lights can't be seen as far by other ships so all isn't lost if someone is a twit and opens a hatch 2. It helps preserve night vision for people who have to go out at night. 3. Older Ops rooms (where the captain is at actions stations) had persistant CRTs that weren't bright enough to be seen in full lighting so red lights are on there at all times. (This made fixing things hard. >:-( ) A picture of me in red lighting is below. Arhgh! Just look how happy I am! 8-| So in short, I think the whole red emergency lighting is just a movie/TV thing. With ships I was on red lights were just a white fluro with a red filter that were in the same waterproof houseing as the white lights, and all lights had battery back-up for several hours. Thus the emergency lights were the same either way, although we were supposed to turn the lights off when the power was down if we didn't need them. I can rant about this for hours.... :-$

Excellent! ....Hey! I just noticed you stole my Douglas Adams signature....

Thanks... I think. :-P What I meant is; Can the landing gear take the weight of the ship? I couldn't see any photos showing that. 8-|

Sorry about taking so long to comment on this. :-$ I have been pretty busy lately. Feel free to beat me up SW4J. I think you have taken a great idea and finished it. It reminds me of how the USA did the Harrier 2; the first was a great design but was limited in application. By the time the USA finished with the Harrier it was practical as well. *wub* Ooops, I have digressed. :-$ The colour scheme is much better. That orange can be hard to use well (as I will find out soon) and the subtle dark green highlights looks great. (I love the new dark green and red.) And look; forward retro thrusters! It really bothers me how most space fighters have big rear engines and no front ones. At the least they could rotate and use the main engines to reverse, but no; they just stop the engines and the ship stops. :-| You've even included pitch/roll and yaw thrusters, and you even attached one on the bottom! I like the forward light repeating lasers and I love how you have made a point to empisize how weak the lasers are. :-D Your cockpit solutions is great. That canopy can be very hard to use. Personally, if this was my design, I would say that it couldn't operate in gravity, and thus wouldn't give it landing gear or antigrav, but that's just me. Aside from that I there is nothing that I don't like and I think the thruster and engine sizes are perfect considering the size of the ship. The more I see your stuff the more I want to see your finished SHIP. I think this has to be the smallest ship that I have seen that is actually believable. (Mine suxed!) Any chance of some swooshing photos? :-P

When Mutant Dinosaurs Attack the College of Engineering
Siegfried replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Oh Hinckley thinks he is so good that he can take me on with only half his mind. :-| Little does he know that since I am a half wit I was doing that already! 8-| -
Interesting ship. I like your smart usage of the doors and the compact landing gear. Does the landing gear work? I think the tail is much better than the nose. I don't like how you mention "AntiGrav boosters" though, but that's just me! :-P

Me too Capt'n!

Perhaps ships and non ships? :-P If not, I think one category would be cool. *sweet*

I love it and all the rest of your pimping. *wub* Grey looks much better, and your X-1 is magnifique. I hadn't seen this thread before. I'd do the same thing to mine if I had a TIE, but oddly I haven't got any. :-$

But it was such a good rant! :-P I agree 100% with everything you just said. 8-

Dunno. Supposedly a year has pastm but when Yoda and Luke meet in Jedi they act like they haven't seen each other since the last movie. Does Luke have time after making a new Saber and buying some new clothes? :-P Ever read this? I agree completely. The director, Richard Marquand, is to blame as well though. Yes, the cartoons are surprisingly good, especially the second lot.

Annoyingly, after taking my photos yesterday, I found today a piece that I was trying to find all week. Darn. I'd just like to say that I see no reason why this can't be entered. We already have one digital entry after all. But I believe it is Hinckley's call. 8-| Yep. Don't hit enter after each image. *sweet*

Sorry everyone for being so quiet. I was running out of whiskey so I mixed up some more from my store of alcohol on board. Another radio smashed... Where was everyone at the time? I believe I have been in sight of the Capt'n the whole time. Has Bennie been? Is that some kind of sex position Capt'n; the Deeplink Tripod. 8-

I agree. That implies that they all are bad, and one is badder. I think four are excellent, one is OK and one is not-OK. 1. Empire Strikes Back Brilliant movie. This is the movie that made Star Wars what it is today. I can watch this over and over again and still enjoy it. Han Solo works so well in this movie and it has AT-ATs in it. I still find the Luke-Leia kiss scene a bit sickly though. :-X 2. A New Hope For all its flaws, this still is a great movie. I still cry when I watch the sunset on Tatooine scene. :'-) The conference room scene will go down in movie history as one of the best and Alex Guiness as Obi-Wan is so crafty that he borders on being evil. Love it. 3. Attack of the Clones While a lot of this movie doesn't make sense, it has some of the best action scenes of the series. I love almost every scene that Jango appears in, with the exception being obvious. The CG design for the clone attack is excellent, and Yoda works very well. If the "love" scenes were removed I would probably give it second place. 4. The Phantom Menace The more I watch this the more I like it. I still find the Podrace scene overlly long, but the end fight scene is probably the best in the whole series. Jar Jar does suck, as does the space and land battle, but the performances of Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor more than make up for it. Palpatine is great in this one. He is so subtle and it works very well. 5. Return of the Jedi Ewoks. Hate them. Super Star Destroyer with Star Destroyer escorts being destroyed by the rebels. Unbelievable. There is so much to pick on with this movie. What happens to the AT-AT on Endor? What is fighting Darth to do with becoming a Jedi? Why is Luke a Jedi in after only a week or so of training? Why are people happily looking at the Death Star exploding when the debris will devastate Endor? The concept that killing six scouts will ensure that their presence will remain a secret. *wacko* But it all pales in comparison to the lazy acting of Harrison Ford, and the unbelievable character of Leia. What happend to the her? Menapause? Aside from one scene (killing Jabba) she has turned into a girl. The only scene in this movie I love is the funeral of Darth. Gets me every time :'-( , probably because it uses almost the same music as the sunset on Tatooine scene! 6. Revenge of the Sith I waited for years for this movie, and it was almost a complete disappointment. I didn't even like the opening CG. Grievous for example; why the silly cough? Supposedly the reason for it is George came in with a cold one day and thougth it would be cool to include. Don't believe me? Read here towards the bottom. I was so looking forward to him and I was so disapointed. I did like some of the character animation of Grievous, and I thought the death of the Jedi montage was beautifuly done, but that is about all that I can say that I like about the movie. Yes, I agree.

My advice is; 1. Spend around 300-500 USD. Cameras less that 300 USD generally are made far cheaper (for example plastic body rather than metal) and often don't include accessories that you will want to buy anyway. (Cables, batteries, software etc.) 2. Make sure that the camera comes with a battery pack and charger. Preferably a Lithium Ion battery. If not take that into consideration when comparing prices. 3. 3-5 Mega pixels is all the resolution you will need unless you have a really good lens. Be sure that the resolution is in Mega Pixels, not "Effective" or "Interpolated". These fancy words simply mean that the camera expands the picture via processing and thus the resolution is often 1-2 Mega Pixels less. 4. Make sure that the camera has a 3x zoom lens minimum. 2x is not enough (my old one was like that) and digital zoom is worthless. (I leave it off!) Too much zoom can be bad if you don't want it due to lens distortion, and make sure the camera has a macro mode. 5. Donβt worry about what memory comes with the camera; unless it includes 128MB+ (most don't) you will want to buy more memory. 6. If you want to use the camera for movies as well be sure that it has a microphone and a decent speaker. 7. My camera is a Sony DSC-S75 with 11500 images on the clock. Stats are (bought in 2001) are 3.3 Mega Pixel CCD and 3x Optical zoom Carl Zeiss lens (made in Germany). (Bought for around $750 USD at the time.) The lens makes the camera which is why it is still a good camera. I have no plans to replace it.

Thanks! I have been trying. I wasn't 100% happy with these though as the white top is blending into the white background... :-/
-
Gee, thanks! 8-| Actually I don't think I have any of those in a clear transparent form. :-$ That never was part of the entry. I did that specially for you. *wub* I will add it. :-D Yes, but I can't. :'-( I haven't got an inverted windsceen, thus I built that upside down. That then meant that I needed to do the roof sideways... I do need the head room as well.
-
Oh. :-| They are annoying. Hurray for Jipay! *sweet*

I just updated my entry. Just a few minor changes. Barbossa - I've commented on yours elsewhere. *wub* *yoda* - Your first City building? Wow! Grat sign and roof details. *sweet* I think it does seem very like Moes. Is there an interior? gylman - Well, I think I have changed my vote from Hinckley to you! (He can't win anyway! :-D ) That is huge and there is so much to like! Your cool use of your sigfig, the bike stand, the excellent entry, the cool sign, the red truck, the use of lighting, the back entrance and stairs, the kitchen, the toilet, the swinging walls, the clam burger and executive chome bucket :-P ... I could go on for hours. If you got a saw and cut that MOC in half, anywhere, it would still be my favourite. *wub* ZeekyBoogeyDoog - I think yours is the funniest entry so far. :-D I get the impression that you think politicians are corrupt. 8-| Laughs aside I love it. The bell tower and the stepped roof work really well. :-D I can't remember it; was it that bad?

Staunch; a Resolution medium transport on a recon mission
Siegfried replied to Siegfried's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
The first part that I worked on was the cockpit. I wanted to make the ship look like a space version of this. It took me several redesigns before it was strong enough. Thanks. I tried to add some more details to the sensors but my parts were quite low at that stage. Until the last minute Staunch had no weapons, but when I gave up on making a mech I turned the arms into guns and added them to the front... then I decided to integrate the sensors and weapons. I was never 100% happy with the thrusters. I redesigned all four several times so they looked as integrated as possible, but ultimately I would have prefered if they were not transparent, and I wanted to add ones to the side as well. I never saw it that way! :-D I started at the wheels and went up, and I was very happy with it considering its simplicity. He will probably be enhanced, possibly even with legs. 8-| That was a badly done homage to my old Radar in the Navy, AN/SPS-52C. I have made a better version of it years ago past... ...but still not very good. :-P Well it was there, it was just too small to pick any of the details in the photos. :-D Well there's nothing to see actually. :-$ The top lifts off and is re-attached on the top. No hinges, sad to say. I can still take photos if you want though. Well as I said, small ships aren't my style, and I suppose it shows. I agree the cockpit is too big, and yes, there really isn't enough void space in that ship. Impartial, for example, I deliberatly didn't allow myself to use the internal space along the sides so it had room for the stuff that makes it go. That thing must run on love or something. :-D Thanks very much for you comments! I look forward to what you say next time... 8-| It is due for a re-design. When I made it I had far less pieces. I now have enough of those engine pieces to do them all one colour.
