  1. ah, curses. I built my own MF version before the game came out ( http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=130797&hl=microfighter ) but their version looks better. Might try the OT version as you suggest - though I think the one in the game is actually using white for the wings, not light grey.
  2. Nice work! I'm trying to figure out the SF TIE fighter micro from the game, looks pretty cool. Hope they release some of these sets
  3. This is really cool Jonas, I would like to see more photos showing the engines and the front end detail too + how you fitted the missiles in. I've also had a go at a Microfighter version of this ship here: http://www.eurobrick...topic=129733 so its always interesting to see how someone else tackles the same design problem :) Good luck with the contest!
  4. This is really nice. It looks like it could be from the prequel trilogy as there was quite a strong 20/30s influence on some of the vehicles in those films.
  5. Really nice build of a design that is not Lego friendly :) great stuff
  6. Awesome - I'd love to see photos if you do build them. One small note of caution: you need 8 (4 left, 4 right) of the new 2x2 wedge plates like this in black: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=24307#T=C and they aren't a very common item so you may need to order them from Bricklink sellers in the Netherlands or Germany. The 4x1 trans red tile is another uncommon part but can be substituted with 2 2x1 tiles instead
  7. That looks great, I really like how the angled plates meet up so cleanly. Are they mounted on ball joints?
  8. Cheers! Here's the LXF file in case anyone wants to put one together :) https://drive.google...bzh3cURkUXlXNTA
  9. Love this - you've really nailed the right scale and the shaping is great. I just noticed there are minifig hands used on the bar at the back! Which poor soul had to sacrifice those for the build? :)
  10. this is super. I'd love to see some photography taken from a viewpoint closer to the surface. Nice work
  11. hey, thanks very much for your comments & compliments. It's fun working in this scale (and it saves me money on larger projects) so I'm thinking what to tackle next. Either the Alliance Transport or maybe the Finalizer? I can't see Lego doing an official version of this craft, mainly because they'd almost certainly have to include a Ren minifig which seems unlikely for a set at this price point. re: the 75104 set, it's strange how wrong they got it but I can only assume the final ship design came in quite late. Maybe they'll release an update if the craft appears in Episode VIII - which seems likely.
  12. Hello here's the 3rd of my TFA inspired Microfighter builds - Kylo Ren's Shuttle. H 10.5 x W 10 x D 10 studs in dimension and 111 pieces, though that could be brought down to 100 with a little less greebliness. It has pivoting wings, a tiny ramp and a couple of stealthy flickfires underneath - plus room for a pilot of course. Kylo or maybe a FO crew member would be more appropriate. It's a tricky ship to do in Microfighter style because the wings are so huge in comparison to the hull, there's really no option other than to scale them right down if you want to keep inside the 12 stud limit. When the wings are folded out it's obviously a lot wider and generally it looks just a little larger than most official MFs, though not completely out of scale. I did most of the design in LDD and then bricklinked the parts. As usual, real bricks meant for a couple of design changes but actually for the better. It's pretty sturdy and playable as long as you don't force the wings past the stops. I didn't even attempt to make the wings slide down in the landed position it would have made them either flimsy or very bulky so just kept them in one piece. That's about all. Comments and critiques welcome! "Race you, Dad!"
  13. I love the pub, looks very cosy. You should definitely put this together in real bricks.
  14. I think you need to consider this from a broader perspective than that of a hard core fan. A SW CMF line would need to appeal to a broader market so it would have to have the iconic characters in it, not just relatively obscure ones or costume variations. That probably rules it out for a start since it would undercut TLGs sales of sets featuring those characters.
  15. Hi, I Just uploaded the LXF here if anyone is interested. All parts apart from the printed TIE window piece are accurate if you want to Bricklink it.
  16. Thanks so much for the work in progress photos and descriptions. Really inspirational. It really deserves a proper studio photo shoot. If you did one, I'd bet you could sell a few photo books.
  17. Gun metal :)
  18. I would love to hear more about the design and build process. Must have been a mix of hard planning and a lot of hands on trial and error... There's only so much you can do in LDD or on paper I guess
  19. I would love to see a video of this. My son is going to want to build one as soon as I show it to him :)
  20. Love the fact you've made it for minifigs too. Super work
  21. Fantastic and a lot of fun! Great work.
  22. Thanks! Yes, I know what you mean about the rear window but I couldn't really fit a rectangular tile onto the black dish without it sticking out so the small trans red dish is just a nod to that feature. Update: It got me thinking and I tried this with just the parts I had so could be improved with 2x1 slopes and trans red tile.. it's a bit bulkier than I'd want but could be another way to do the rear section.
  23. Here's the second of my Force Awakens Microfighter MOCs, a Special Forces TIE Fighter. 88 pieces so well within the Microfighter piece count range plus it's a sturdy, playable little model. So far, Lego have produced 2 TIE Microfighters - An Interceptor from ROTJ and the Advanced Prototype from Rebels - but no 'classic' version - why?. I reckoned it was partly to do with capturing the wing design and making it strong enough so, to cut a long story short, I spent some time mocking up the structure with real bricks then, once I had something I was confident with, took it into LDD. It was pretty clear early on that fitting the 6 struts onto the wings was not going to result in anything strong or attractive so I decided just to go for the shape instead and leave the rest to imagination / artistic licence. The key construction element is a 9M cross axle that runs through the middle and the wings and 'beams' that contain 2x2 round plates to sandwich the whole thing together. It's really sturdy, much more so than plenty of the other MFs. The mini-blaster doubles as the antenna when it's clipped in and there are 2 flick missiles underneath. That's about all, the design would easily translate to an Original Trilogy TIE fighter with a simple re-colour so maybe I'll put one of those together too. Finally, here it is with my 'Black Leader' X-Wing micro :) Thanks for taking a look, comments & questions welcome.
  24. I like your designs, really nice mini builds. My only suggestion would be adjust the exposure and white balance on your photos to show them off better. If you're using Flickr then the online photo editor should be able to do what you need pretty well.
  25. Hey, really pleased you like it. If you do build one, please post up a photo here. You should be able to extract a parts list from the lxf file, if not I can upload one. The original ship design is pretty brutal but I like it, it looks fit for purpose.
