  1. I can’t lie. I would’ve killed for a Lego Tornado kit when I was a kid. This looks neat.
  2. So is there any way Lego might differentiate the new Keaton Batman figure from the previous versions they’ve done? Or are they just gonna reuse the one for the Burton Batmobile.
  3. Wonder if they’ll include Supergirl.
  4. The new slate has me hoping we get a revival of the DC license from Lego. The talk a while back was too much of the current DC output was geared at adults, but a more hopeful and optimistic Superman movie likely won't have that problem, and I'm guessing the Batman and Robin flick will be similarly PG-13. I like that there seems to be a mix of general audience fare and more mature projects like the Authority and Swamp Thing (who I'm guessing may not get sets, but it is what it is).
  5. The Mech Strike stuff isn't for me, but I assume the reasoning is a desire to get some of those evergreen Avengers back in circulation in a year when most of them don't have a movie or Disney+ show (I think of the assortment it's just Black Panther and Thor in 2022, right?) Still, I'd prefer if we at least got some different villains for Spider-Man.
  6. Ha! True. Either way, I'd love to get him eventually. Been enjoying the show a lot.
  7. Last year (or maybe even before that?) a Lego brand rep also got asked about the disparity between Marvel and DC stuff and chalked it up to the fact that Marvel is the more popular brand and has a more consistent stream of content to tie into for merchandisers. Where as a lot of DC's non-Batman attempts have been very hit or miss. So while it's unfortunate, I can see why that'd be a concern. Weren't those specifically comic versions and not the TV-MA rated Netflix versions? Though honestly a comic Peacemaker could serve double duty as both a comic and TV series fig since the costume in the show is straight off the page.
  8. The other thing to consider is that given the popularity gulf between DC and Marvel right now, it's entirely possible retailers don't want DC Lego stuff that's not Batman or tied to a movie of some kind. There was a whole video done recently examining why Hasbro's Marvel toys generally offer a much broader and more diverse character selection than the DC toys made by other companies, and one of the key points raised was that Marvel as a brand has been red hot for the past 10 years, while DC's reputation in movie theaters has been much more hit or miss. Consequently, a lot of retailers are less willing to take a chance on DC stuff without reliable mainstays or some sort of movie presence to guarantee casual buyers will have even heard of the property and characters being featured.
  9. Like the people saying the Baxter Building would have been better, I don't see Lego committing to a massive undertaking like that until there's a an actual film behind the property again.
  10. If existing fans had the power to make the X-Jet flop, that should have been irrelevant since the set was unconnected to the movie. There's no connection. I'm not. The Lego kits are aimed at a mainstream audience. And the mainstream audience is far bigger than hardcore comic readers. Even in the absolute heyday of the comic industry, the audience of a blockbuster movie still absolutely dwarfed the number of people buying even the best selling comics. The same mainstream audience that, by all measurable accounts, was perfectly fine with the DOFP movie. You're projecting your personal dislike onto something unrelated.
  11. That's fine. But that's not how the movie was received. It was very successful at the box office and was very well reviewed, so the idea that it was the reason the Lego kit failed is a major stretch. Especially when the majority of people do not read comics in the first place.
  12. Days of Future Past is by no means considered the worst Fox X-Men movie, so I highly, highly doubt that. Nothing seems particularly shocking to me; MCU was already a way bigger deal than the X-Men by that point, and while the sets were lame and Amazing Spider-Man 2 sucked, Spidey still sells the pants off pretty much every other Marvel hero by order of magnitudes. So the idea that the X-Jet was the worst performing Marvel piece isn't a surprise.
  13. The reality is (and always has been) that far more people watch the adaptations than read the comics. It sucks, but it's the way it is. And when you're talking about DC in particular, where the modern movies have a somewhat dubious reputation and are very hit or miss in terms of reception, the idea that Lego would rather focus on an extremely popular older Batman film over something from the comics with less broad appeal isn't very surprising. Or at least not to me at least.
  14. I also think it's a fake. But can I also ask, if you're gonna post things under a spoiler tag, please say whether you're referring to spoilers from something that happened in an already aired episode or a leak. There are people who are following the shows who are deliberately avoiding places like Reddit so they don't run into leaks. Not singling someone out, but sometimes this thread seems like people just dropping a bunch of leaks and spoilers from upcoming movies and TV shows with a very tenuous "This would be cool if they made a Lego set out of this!" justification.
  15. The people who thought that are kidding themselves. There was no way WB was gonna release an R-rated Batman movie. Joker got away with an R-rating because it was low budget (by the standards of a superhero movie) and had no merchandise they needed to worry about moving.
  16. It's definitely not movie based. Ryan Ting, who works at Hasbro, said last year that the reason they don't tend to do Sony merchandise right away is because while Marvel Studios provides concept art and actor images before filming even begins so that toy companies have ample production time, Sony does not do that. Notice that companies did eventually make toys for the Venom film....over a year after it was in theaters. Notice that a lot of the Into the Spider-Verse toys were also produced quite late.
  17. Marvel does not like leaks coming from merchandise, so there is almost assuredly some sort of contractual clause in place that prevents companies from officially unveiling movie merchandise without the studio's okay. The team working on Marvel Legends has mentioned several times in the past that there are toys they simply aren't allowed to show off to the public until they are closer to the release date of the actual movie, which probably applies to Lego as well. Lego most likely will not be doing any official announcements about the Eternals sets until there is at least a trailer.
  18. It's not just Lego. A lot of the merchandising companies do less DC stuff now, and most of what they do is Batman related. Blame the movies failing to put the DC brand on the same footing as Marvel, I guess.
  19. They're doing exactly that (the bolded bit) with other merchandise. The Marvel Legends Eternals figures have already begun leaking out online because they won't be in stores until closer to the movie's release date. Same with some Falcon and Winter Soldier Funkos and Minimates that were also delayed because the show was pushed back. Black Widow is the exception, and the Hasbro team mentioned that one was unavoidable because the toys had already shipped and were in transit when Disney made the decision to delay the movie until next year.
  20. Wow. Four sets for an untested property like this is impressive. Can't wait to see the Shang-Chi stuff.
  21. Very excited to see anything from Shang-Chi yet. We haven't even gotten a trailer.
  22. Can't wait for Miles and Ghost Rider.
  23. Cynically, I think it's way more likely that Lego just sees comic sets as a way to continue selling sets based around the big guns during periods when they don't have movies in theaters. You do get some comic characters like Ms. Marvel, Ghost Rider and the various Spider-People, sure, but I doubt from a corporate perspective that's why the comic sets exist. Which is why you rarely see any super deep cuts in these, and when you do see comic-only characters it's often someone Marvel is actively pushing currently (IE, I would not be surprised if we see characters like Moon Knight or She-Hulk pop up in some future sets ahead of their MCU debuts).
  24. MCU more so than the comics. To be frank, the game was considered a failure for ONLY selling three million copies, which is significantly more than anyone comic has sold in the last few decades. That's why even most of the comic sets Lego does are still of characters people are more likely to recognize from movies and TV or games.
