Here is my review on LEGO City 60423 Downtown Streetcar and Station: THE GOOD: Very nicely down cafe/kiosk roof. The tram/street car do look good. The adjustable platform is fun. THE NOT SO GOOD: The head and tail basically identical, splitting build in separate instruction feel unnecessary. A set with a tram while not being a full blown train set. Bought this not for the tram originally but for the new minifigure head with sunglasses on. Despite the build of the tram's head and tail are identical, overall it was a fun build. The colour scheme and the trams, I do think these look good. I do wonder when LEGO is going to make sliding doors happening on trains rather than how you traditionally open door. One thing did bother me was that all 3 cars are connected, but it does look like not all 3 cars are linked and the minifigures can move around the tram. In term of the station, I really like the care/kiosk, the roof is a very cool looking build. The platform is also smartly done and an action features to make hoping onto the tram easier. The minifigures line-up is a bit disappointing given only 1 minifigure has new head part. But this minifigure do look nice, as the head is not just designed to represent the visually impaired but can also be a general guy wearing glasses. This set also includes a guide dog. This is a set I like but also feel like something missing. While this set doesn't break the bank but I still recommend you wait and observe to get the max discount on this set. If you previously owns LEGO tracks due to buying LEGO trains, this is a set for you. Although there are flaws, still a good sets \.

Here is my review on LEGO DreamZzz 71483 The Never Witch's Nightmare Creatures: THE GOOD: 5 excellent minifigures. The new printed tiles and parts. The default bird build is with great colours and movements. THE NOT SO GOOD: Price is steep. With the price of this new Dreamzzz wave seems to shoot up higher, this is one of the few sets I decided to get if there is good deal instead of waiting for the cool parts to be available at PAB. First the minifigures are excellent in this. Yes, some of them is limited to the Dreamzzz settings but I cannot deny how detailed every single one of them are. And it is interesting to see mirrored version of previous characters. I decided to go for the default build, the bird. It is a smaller bird compared to the bigger set, Never witch's raven but this one is pretty cool. It looks good and has a very interesting build through out. I like the use of some parts makes it different to other brick built birds I have built before. I particularly love the wings. There are quite a few movements you can do but due to the design, some poses might not possible due to the weight distribution. The other highlight of this set is definitely the new parts and I'm glad some of the new decorated tiles are printed instead of clear stickers. You get 4 variations of the new printed tile in this. In the end, I really like this set. I didn't bother to try the other 2 alternate builds offered as the bird looks better than the mech and the dog. The only down side it really the price of this. RRP is $80NZD, luckily I got 20% off. It's a set I would recommend if you are into interesting lego parts and minifigures.

Here is my review on 75389 The Dark Falcon: THE GOOD: 6 exclusive minifigures and all done well. It's a great build and the colour scheme looks great. The interior is what set this apart from other millennium falcon. THE NOT SO GOOD: It's expensive! With a 20% off discount deal, I decided to buy this now and it did not disappoint. I absolutely loved it. While this is not the first LEGO Millennium Falcon in this scale I bought, it is the first one I've built. I had a great time building this, from the base, exterior to the interior, it was fun. The top part can be a bit repetitive towards the end but other parts made up for it. It also look great, and I think the black and red colours scheme works better than the 2 tone grey look compared to the millennium falcon. The interior though, is what set this apart. There are tons of details that are really nice. The throne seat, the prison and the gaming area. I found it interesting it's a console looking like a PS5. Then we have the 6 excellent exclusive minifigures. If you told me these are real before this was announced and the Rebuild the Galaxy teaser, I wouldn't have believe you. In fact when this was first rumoured, I thought it was fake news. All 6 are done with excellent details, my favourites are definitely Jedi Vader and Beach Luke, in fact Beach Luke is so good it fits outside Star Wars too. Getting sith lord version of usual good characters is fun, although the C3PO with red eyes does look a bit creepy. Overall, it's a great set. You may have concerns on the build may be very similar to past falcons in the same scale, but I do think you still going to get a brand new experience due to the interior and also use of new lego pieces. The only downside of this set is really the price. without discount, it's NZD330, while the volume of the set is big with only good things to talk about even with inflation considered, a jump from NZD200 on the Force Awakens Millennium Falcon I bought 9 years ago still feel may be 50NZD over priced. Luckily the discount I got kinda make it more reasonable. Other than that, it's a great set that I definitely would recommend. Now I want to open and build the 2015 Millennium Falcon to place it next to this.

Here is my review on LEGO Speed Champions 76934 Ferrari F40 Supercar: THE GOOD: Looks great and a significant improvement from the previous version. Fun and interesting builds with some very unique designs. THE NOT SO GOOD: Wish the side emblem is printed. Some stickers may be difficult to align. In the beginning, I thought is it too soon to have an updated 8 studs wide version of the F40? After building the set, absolutely yes! This is another great entry to the speed champions and I truely think this era of supercar really fits LEGO speed champions well. First it looks stunning and much more closer to the real thing compared to the previous version for obvious reasons. But the overall building experience and some of the designs decision they took to recreate some of the shape are fresh and interesting. The use of spoon, how the front and rear are built, the side doors, engine... just too many to highlight and it's best to experience it yourself. Yes, some of the stickers are difficult to align and apply but it's not that many compared to most other Speed Champions sets. More importantly, crucial parts are all printed except may be the side emblem which I wish also printed. As usual you get a minifigure with Ferrari Apparel, the sweater does look a bit simple but it's always good to get unique torso =). Given it's a single car speed champions set, the price is also wallet friendly as you would get discount off this set easily. It's definitely a recommendation from me and can't wait to see more awesome Speed Champions set in the near future.

Here is my review on LEGO Marvel 76289 Thor vs. Surtur Construction Figure: THE GOOD: Surtur is surprisingly well done and allow you to take his horn out to create iconic scenes from the movie. Great minifigures. THE NOT SO GOOD: none. This set is a nice surprise. Originally planned to buy this just for the Fire Demons and a cheap way to get the new Thor's cape but Surtur is surprisingly well done. It looks menacing and fun to build. It also has lots of articulation points which makes it very posable. And the way the horn are designed allows you to take it down to create iconic scenes from the movie. Seriously, Immigrant song is playing in my head while I was building this. The minifigures also does not disappoint, love the fire demons and only realised after the Thor minifigure is actually exculsive to this set. And it's really a budget way to get the new cape piece which I found it works better than the fabric ones. Yes, RRP at $55NZD is probably more expensive than other LEGO sets of the same size given the Disney License but with a 20% off discount, made this set very appealing/affordable. It's actually a great small set, totally recommended if you love the MCU.

Here is my review on LEGO Animal Crossing 77052 K.K.'s Concert at the Plaza: THE GOOD: Finally we have K.K. and Audie. The town hall + plaza area has captured the game vibe well. THE NOT SO GOOD: Lack the details we got in previous waves. Would rather see a new village other than a Isabelle variant. No new K.K. record print. The autumn tree will feel odd when connected to other sets. Finally, we have K.K & Audie minifigures. Let's be honest, most of us bought Animal Crossing sets for the unique minifigures. And it does not disappoint, both new minifigures are done very well. Isabelle is nice too with a new torso but personally I much prefer a new villagers or NPC. The set itself pretty much expanding what previous wave has delivered. This time we get the town hall, with the plaza, notice board and the boom box, it really captures the vibe of the game well. New print for the clock is also well come. The plaza area is also very spacious too. Having said that, while the interior gave is the ATM but I cannot deny the fact that the interior details is somewhat lacking compared to previous wave. It's also a bit disappointing that the K.K. record is a re-use of part instead of a new print. This set also gave us K.K.'s camper van and a small cafe. The van looks cute but personally there is lack connection due to the fact the van did not appear in new horizons. However, it has some nice print on the exterior and fits the theme well. The cafe is nice but I found the autumn season setting a bit odd when combined with other set. The set is by no means is bad but it's not going to change how I rank each set in the theme. At $140NZD, it's the same price point a Nook's cranny but Nook's cranny feel better value. However, if you a fan of the game, I would still recommend this because of k.K. and Audie.

Here is my review on LEGO Animal Crossing 77051 Fly with Dodo Airlines: THE GOOD: Excellen Minifigures. Printed tiles for iconic items and design. The plane has great size ratio and look for what it is even though it lacks the roof. THE NOT SO GOOD: Somewhat feeling incomplete with roof and walls missing. Finally we have DoDo Airlines! While I do like it but it does have some issues. let's talk about the good parts first. Despite the plan missing the roof, it does look great and has a very good size ratio given the scale of the building and other sets from this theme. And of course with no stickers, this set gave us some iconic prints like the nook miles ticket and the Dodo airlines logo. Once again the minifigures are excellent. First time having a different cat villager, and Wilbur is great. I wonder if we still have chance to get Orville in the future though. Despite all these, this set has some issues and especially if you compare with sets from previous wave. First, while the airpot building does capture the design of the one in game well, it has no roof and no walls on once side. This makes it feel incomplete. also it's kinda small compared to other houses and building from previous wave. Although, the entry gate is done in an interesting way. Still it just feel over simplified. You do get huge area on the pier but I do wish it uses a few more studs and pieces to make the airport slightly more detailed. With a 65NZD RRP, it does feel the value you get is somewhat not to a satisfactory level even with a discount. For a fan of the game, it does has it merits and I would still recommend but really this is something very hard to sell outside its niche.

Here is my review on LEGO Monkie Kid 6476261 Monkie Kid 5th Anniversary Cake: THE GOOD: Awesome 5th Anniversary Monkey King minifigure. Also a 5th Anniversary exclusive printed tile. The cake consists of the full Monkie Kid Team. THE NOT SO GOOD: Availability is basically, unknown at this point. Given the uncertainty on this set availability, I decided to buy this off Bricklink from a seller in Macau. It took a while but finally arrived, and it did not disappoint. As the main driver for me is the exclusive minifigure and print, I'm very happy with the minifigure. This Monkey King features an exclusive head with the iconic 5th anniversary glassed, the 2nd face is also exclusive to this one with an expression looking like he is blowing some candles. The torso and legs are reused though. I'm glad that this set has no stickers, which brought us the exclusive printed tile of the 5th anniversary logo which is done brilliantly. However, I was very satisfied with this set not just because the parts I'm looking for but this small birthday cake build is actually pretty good. And if you love the Monkie Kid theme, you will love the look of it as it features brick built head of all 6 members of the Monkie Kid squad. This makes it a truely unique set. The only problem is this set is extremely hard to find! I have not heard anything about availability outside China. While the price I paid is somewhat affordable but combined with shipping, it's a hefty price I have to pay. Although the exclusive parts are totally worth it given I love the theme. Let's hope cool set like this will be available more widely.

Here is my review on LEGO City 60426 Jungle Explorer Off-Road Truck: THE GOOD: The Tiger habitat build is great with some nice small details and looks great on its own. The truck build is very refreshing. THE NOT SO GOOD: If you already own sets from this sub-theme, the minifigures selection can feel repetitive. My road to complete the map for Jungle Exploring continues. Originally, only plan to get the tiger when it becomes available from PAB but recently discovered the map from each of the sets from this sub-theme are actually connected, with a 20% off deal, why not getting this as well. Turns out, this set is pretty good. I really like the Tiger habitat, it looks great on its old and fairly detailed. Plus you can connect with other location builds from the same sub-theme. I already connected 3 of theme and the outcome is great. The brand new tiger also looks great but it does feel a little bit too orange. The truck is actually pretty refreshing, originally I thought it's going to be just very generic build but it actually built in a way that at least I have never experienced before. I particularly like recent trend of using small tiles to create exterior patterns. The minifigures are good but if you bought other sets like me then it does feel a bit repetitive but still great minifigures though. At 55NZD RRP, with a discount, makes this a very great set. I do recommend this set if you are into LEGO animals and wants to complete the map.

Here is my review on LEGO City 60440 LEGO Delivery Truck: THE GOOD: Great build with many interesting details. Looks great and it's massive. The key panels and lego sets are all printed. THE NOT SO GOOD: none. When this was first announced, I thought I must get this if the lego tiles are printed. And it does not disappoint, the big panels and all lego sets are all printed. It has a great building experience, given the piece count and size it also allows some very interesting details. And this is one massive truck, it's very long like the Orient Express Carriage long. It also comes with lots of cool details, like the openable bonnet, driver resting area and a trailer will full opening panels. A similar forklift like the one from the Grocery store makes the transport of crates of LEGO sets into/out from the truck easy and fun. The side hot dog stand is also a very detailed little build. With only 4 minifigures, it does feel it can include more. The minifigures while not striking but has some interesting details. Like the truck driver has the LEGO factory uniform. At 180NZD, this is not a cheap set, in fact the price was the reason holding me off from buying this on day one due to budget constraint. Now with a 20% discount, it does make the set way more accessible. Having said that even at full price, I think the printed element and the overall details in this set do justify the price. It's definitely a recommendation from me.

Here is my review on LEGO Speed Champions 76924 Mercedes-AMG G 63 & Mercedes-AMG SL 63: THE GOOD: Both G63 and SL63 looks great. Interesting building experience to create some of the more unique styles. Interior is surprisingly detailed. THE NOT SO GOOD: The roof of the G63 can be a bit difficult to fit into the right places. Another set caught my eyes when it was first announced. The G wagon looks so good in photos and finally got my chance to get this. The actual build does not disappoint. Both the G63 and SL63 looks great. And with the unique styles of both cars, there are some very interesting building experience through out the build. I was particularly impressed with the build of the front grill. Both cars also comes with a surprisingly detailed interior. While the SL63 limited to be 3 seaters, the G63 has 4 seats and space to store more things at the back. The only down side I struggled with was the G63 roof, I found it very frustrating to put it in place as the side windows often interferes and ended up not able to close the roof. Otherwise both cars are really great. With 2 minifigures come with unique torso print, I can only recommend this set. Yes the price does feel high without discount but if you compare with speed champions sets with 1 car, this set actually aren't more expensive as you get 2 cars. Either way, it's not difficult to get a discount off this set =)

Here is my review on LEGO City 60421 Robot World Roller-Coaster Park: THE GOOD: Looks great, fun build and highly playable. Interesting buildings experience with highlights like the game controller and various arcade machines. A great roller coaster experience compared to similar size ones. Great minifigures with ONE exclusive DJ that looks great! THE NOT SO GOOD: none. This set has everything. Great building experience, looks, minifigures and fun. I'm surprised at the size of it and how well it looks. More over, the building experience is great with tons of cool details and interesting techniques through out. The game controller build is brilliant, with many others notable game arcades. It's also well structures with shops and reception plus a very nice DJ deck. Just like the ones in Minions Party Bus, you can spin the records too. The Exo suit is a nice touch and it does enhance the vibe of this set. You may think this is just an other facade open back build but I found it absolutely ok. As it's not uncommon to have these kind of set up in major events and sometimes even indoor. The roller coaster also works well and it's great they added a spiral down route compared to just one simple loop in other coasters at this size & price. The minifigures included are also excellent, especially this time you get an exclusive DJ minifigure which also look both cool and creepy at times. The rest of the line up has interesting parts as well, I particularly love the secondary face of the little boy. At $160 NZD, it's pretty reasonable considering what you get, plus most places will be selling at least 15% off. It's definitely a set I would recommend to everyone.

Here is my review on LEGO Harry Potter 76432 Forbidden Forest: Magical Creatures: THE GOOD: The magical creatures. Can be extended with other sets set in Forbidden Forest in current wave. THE NOT SO GOOD: The size of the set limits itself from being a "forest" with limited foliages. Repetitive build. This is truely a LEGO animal pack than an actual set. I wanted an extra baby thestral and the pixie, with a 30% off deal at our local stores it was perfect opportunity to buy this set. I have low expectation as the set appears to be very simple. Turns out it lies within my expectation. For someone has quite a few harry potter sets, none of the build nor the end results gave me a brand new experience. The set is fairly simple consists of 5 parts and joined together. While being a forest, the foliages volume is hard to justify its name. But that's fine given it's target audience. However, the two main trees has 90% of the same building experience and I did feel a bit repetitive. Having said that, it is quite cool to be extendable with the polybag which adds a little bit more to the set. Again this set is really trying to sell the magical creatures, and they deliver on this. Especially if you don't own any other sets that have these creatures then this set suddenly becomes a very good deal. The thestral, pixie and buckwheat all done very nicely. In terms of minifigures, they are good minifigures but are not exclusive to this set. So if you own them previously it does take away some value of this set but if you never own them before this become a very good deal. Whether this set worth the recommended retail price is really depended on if this is your FIRST Harry Potter set or if you already own most of the elements. And I would only recommend this if there is something you really want from this set. Otherwise it a set that can pass with no harm =)

Here is my review on LEGO City 60437 Jungle Explorer Helicopter at Base Camp: THE GOOD: The Gorillas are great and comes in two! The jungle area is good and customisable. Some interesting new parts like the new map, extra short coaster track and a few minifigures torsos. THE NOT SO GOOD: The Helicopter is massive in size but lack interior details. Bought this with 30% off deal and for the Gorillas. The Gorillas are great, although they do look small in comparison to other large land animals in other sets. The jungle area is very detailed and compatible with other sets in the same wave. There is a nice flower at the back of it but after seeing how certain pieces were used in the Creator Tiger, it does make me think ... lol. The minifigures are great if you haven't buy any of the previous sets on the Arctics exploration as they are the same team, so if you have them from the other waves then you might find them repetitive. I especially like the pilot's torso. In terms of the Helicopter, it's very big and have nice exterior details. Interesting builds to create some of the action features too but to allow one of the key play feature (storing the base camp) this means the interior details are sacrificed. With $180 NZD retail price down in NZ, this set is not cheap. I would only recommend this set, if you can't wait for the Gorillas to be available in cheaper way and you find a decent discount. Of course if you like helicopter, this may be a set for you.

Here is my review on LEGO Jurassic World 76965 Dinosaur Missions: Stegosaurus Discovery: THE GOOD: Ben's Van is surprisingly fun and very close to what you've seen in the show. Finally a Stegosaurus. Interesting side builds. THE NOT SO GOOD: Hefty price tag if without discount. Wish there are more articulation joints for the stegosaurus. With a 30% off discount at our local retailer, a brand new Stegosaurus, too good a deal to pass on. To my surprised, the van is actually pretty good with fun detailes to reference the show and has some nice details to it. The way the back can be opened is also very interesting. Also a very nice side builds of tree trunk with a set up to change the way display it. The highlight on the side build including a scene of a baby raptor just hatched from its egg. Also great to have a squirrel as well. And Finally a LEGO stegosaurus. There are feedback about the fins but if you have watched the show, you can see the shape is actually very similar to the design shown in the show. It's a great dino addtion although I do wish it has more articulation joints like the neck or tail area, as current design will be a little be static. The minifigures are great especially Ben, and if you have bought the Allosaurus set as well then you get the full team. Brooklyn is missing but I won't get into spoiler territory. Problem with this set if probably like most Jurassic world sets, is the price tag without discount. Granted the cost increases due to large dino pieces but $110NZD seems a bit excessive on what you actually get from this. Having said that, if you manage to find a good deal and a fan of the show, this is definitely a set to have.

Here is my review on LEGO Jurassic World 76966 Dinosaur Missions: Allosaurus Transport Truck: THE GOOD: The Allosaurus is great and very accurate compared to the one in the show. A fun truck to build and also look pretty good. THE NOT SO GOOD: Recommended Retail price is about $20NZD too much. Originally was not going to buy this set but after watching the Jurassic World Chaos Theory, it made me want this set so much more after I noticed the allosaurus is a very accurate model of what you've seen in the show. With a 30% off discount lately, decided to get this set. First the Allosaurus is great but the truck is also really good. While the trailer is nothing new but the truck was fun to build. I wonder what's the size compared to the LEGO delivery truck. I do feel the little ATV is not necessary and could have drop the price a little bit. Having said that the minifigures are great and it's interesting to see Darius, Kenji and Yaz in one set. The downside is the RRP of this set without discount does feel a little bit too pricey. Otherwise if you are able to get a good deal, then go for it.

Here is my review on Ninjago Dragons Rising 71818 Tournament Battle Arena: THE GOOD: Looks surprisingly great on its own. Great building experience. Lots of play features especially compared to sets released in recent times. Excellent minifigures. THE NOT SO GOOD: Feel like $10 too expensive in RRP. Statue's beard can fell of quite easily depending on how to hold it. This is another great addition to the NInjago Dragons Rising theme. Driven by the looks and the minifigures included, I couldn't pass up a 20% off deal. Turns out it has a great building experience, due to the unique shape and look it provides a more refreshing experience than more common sets. It also looks great on its own, while being a play set it also feel very completed and has no issues on displaying on a table. Moreover, this is one of the recent sets that exceeds expectation in terms of play features. The Taiko build is great and the dropping mechanism works well. Then we have the statue that looks great with stairs that can transform into slope. Although I ended up making the beard to fell off due to the way I initially handle it. And of course being an arena, having feature to allow 2 minifigures to fight is brilliant. The minifigures selection is great and all are excellent. Sora has one of the most interesting hair piece recently, and this is the first set outside friends to get the green mohawk. The world mask warrior also has great effect parts and looks menacing but given it's weight it does make the minifigure hard to stand on his own. In the end, I really like the set and would recommend to anyone who is looking for some fund. Do try find the best deals though as the RRP does feel $10NZD too expensive.

Here is my review on 75386 Paz Vizsla and Moff Gideon Battle: THE GOOD: Great Minifigures. Able to connect to the Mandalore Ambush set. THE NOT SO GOOD: The build is somewhat bland. Expensive. Finally a smaller set with Moff Gideon! but this one is exclusive to this set. Anyway, yes I bought this set for the minifigures, with a bigger location than the Ambush on Mandalore Battle Pack, it is also more expensive by margin. The minifigures are excellent, very detailed in all aspect. Highlight is definitely Moff Gideon himselt but the updated Paz Vizsla is also great. The Praetorian guards are nicely done too but if you want to complete a trio, best to wait for the Advent Calendar rather than buy an extra of this set. The location build, while the gate looks nice but I have to admin it somewhat bland both looks and play features. Looks, I understand given the location of the scene depicted is also not much to look at. While the opening and locking mechanism allows you to re-create crucial scenes, that's pretty much it. I wish they include those clear posing piece to allow you to depict Moff Gideon flying. Good thing it, this sets does connect with the batlle pack very nicely, once connected it actually enhance the look of the set. It's a set I definitely for the fan of the show but the price is a bit steep.
