LOL - I did ask if she had any bright ideas and she just rolled her eyes and asked how I could of missed it! She's just gone back 5 pages on her's as she missed something, I managed to control my smile though! Good idea on the steering, I have got such item as I have just acquired a 7898 Cargo to build with Thomas, I think that has such a controller so I'll go and dig it out ! Thanks Tim

Hi All, Fairly new to the forum after getting 42030 for my birthday at the start of December and slowly building it with the "help" of my 3 year old little boy :-) - to be fair he got the hang of it fairly quickly and built the engine on his own :-) This is my first studless build since coming out of approx 24 years of my "dark" ages - I think the last model I built was either 5550 Model Team Custom Van or 8872 Technic Forklift Transporter So I've made a schoolboy error with this first build (can I blame the boy??) and the bucket arms don't go up and down :-( - all the other functions work fine. I think I have identified the issue, I missed off the cog on instruction 7 on page 115...... I've had a bit off a search round the forum and used my brain a fair bit and it seems like a major dismantlement is required to resolve this. So my first question is, does anyone have so bright ideas on a quickish/easy fix? If not and I need to rebuild I figured I may as well sort out a few of the "bad" bits, namely the steering! I've seen several solutions to this, what is the general consensus to the best? I am thinking actuators? What else is recommended to make this model ultimate? One thing I'd really like is working lights (front, back and flashing) and maybe a horn/reversing beep - has it been done/any advice on that? Now I need to contemplate the rebuild work on this or getting stuck into my Christmas present 42043 Mercedes! Sorry for the rather long initial major post (rather than odd cheeky comment) really enjoying the forum it seems a really friendly place that stimulates some great discussion on new sets on MOC/MOD work, I can't wait until I am skilled enough to enter a comp! Cheers Tim PS as I am sat here writing this my wife is building her 1st Lego set ever which I got her last week as she was feeling left out - apparently it's all easy, she's currently sifting through 2000 odd prices of 10243 Parisian Restaurant as she insisted on emptying all the packets into one not overly large box :-)

42053 - Volvo EW160E
tgrbailey replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
We are very interested in the Volvo :) I'm saving my VIP points for that they should just cover it. My 3 year old can't wait to get his hands on that and the Claas - I haven't shown him the BWE yet / it'll blow his mind! -
Well I think TLG have made a lot of people very happy. While maybe the Volvo could have been a bit bigger and the log grab on the Xerion is a bit meh I'm hoping they'll let VIP members pre order so we can get them on D day (smuggled to the office of course). Then I guess I'll have to be nice to the boss and hope for a Porsche for my birthday/Christmas:-S

Morning all, I stumbled across this last night, which many of you may of seen: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/91641 Could this be the scale we should expect of the Volvo and or where TLG got there inspiration? Sadly not very well supported which seems to be the way for Lego Ideas of the Technic vain!
