General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

Other than the flyer, nothing from LEGO. What I find more frustrating is the fact that one source says May 1st and another says April 16th, and only one source is actually from LEGO! You would think that a date stated by LEGO would be the official date and other places would say the same, but I guess not. I think, though, that the sets will be out on the 16th because last year when the POP line came out, they released the sets in April, and the movie came out in May. The hopefully will do the same thing this year... -
How does the PM thing work? I haven't really figured it out yet!
-
Ya, for sure. Only problem is you have no idea what I look like, and I have no idea what you look like, so... I'll probably be there on the Saturday also... I'll plan to wear my Boba Fett shirt.

Hey everyone! I'm a bit late to the party, but whatever... I mentioned this over in the Pirates forum in the POTC discussion, but anyone in the Toronto area will be happy to hear that the Sherway Square LEGO Store grand opening is the weekend of May 13th! I put a link in the POTC thread, but here it is again: http://stores.lego.com/en-us/Toronto/LandingPage.aspx The link just goes to a page that tells you the details of the weekend. I'm pretty pumped!

I know that form the pic it is hard to tell what the new characters are (well, just the Officer), but from the distance it looks as if Vader might have a new helmet. It may just be the angle he was photographed, but the shape just looks... different. Maybe I'm just !

Anyone in the Toronto area will be happy to hear (unless you've already heard) that the Sherway Square LEGO Store has it's opening weekend on the weekend of May 13th! Here is the link for more details about the weekend: http://stores.lego.com/en-us/Toronto/LandingPage.aspx Now, I am so flipping excited, because not only will the new POTC stuff be out by then, but it will for sure be at an official LEGO Store! -

Is anyone else finding odd that the sets haven't shown up on shop@home yet? Don't new sets usually appear a week or so before release? Its just making me sceptical about that April 16th release date... -
Ya, it's upsetting that we are getting a plain IG-88 and another Bossk after getting him so recently. It would have been way better to have gotten 4-LOM and Zuckuss to finish off the gang of hunters. But, whatever...

This UCS could just be the best one yet (along with the falcon)! Are there any close up pics of the new Dengar fig? I would like to know if he has a new face print, and from the pic we already have the head dress is new. It looks like a mix of the ninja mask and the POP turban (not too big, but open face). I also think the torso is most likely new!

Nice work on Gibbs! Pretty spot on! The Elizabeth one would be nice, but also maybe a Davy Jones. I know we have only seen him in the video game, but I think he has pretty simple pirate clothes with barnacles on them. Maybe a more interesting decal would be Jones's face under his beard of tentacles.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! All of these are great! smokebelch, how didi you do that one with the hazmat guy in the toxic waste? Its awesome!
-
Thats strange... if you made changes, they didn't show up. Hmmm...

That wouldn't happen unless a new movie came out, and I doubt that will ever happen. One dream license (never would happen) I have is Troy. I love that movie, and I think it could translate very well into LEGO form. They kinda dipped into that river with the Spartan minifig (which was just awesome), but some of the sets and characters would make for some great new parts. Just imagine the Horse!

They don't usually release the keychains and magnets right away, but after the main release of he sets. When they do come out, I'm curious what characters will be first (most likely Jack, Will, and Barbossa). -
Nice work! The only gripe I have is with Barbossa's beard. His sideburns don't go up that high, and his beard is too bushy, and needs to be more scraggly. Also, the orange on Barbossa's shirt is just too bright. Subdue the brightness a bit and it'll look perfect. Other than that, great job!

Just thought of another: the prison from the beginning of Dead Man's Chest that Jack get the "drawring of a key" from. It would be really cool. Also, maybe the "Up is Down" scene from At World's End, with the Pearl tilted a bit to the side and the crew all scrambling to the other side. That, too, would be cool.

When do new products appear on LEGO shop@home? Don't they sometimes appear a bit before release? I just want to get some more close up looks on the QAR and, hek, all the other sets too! I am getting a bit worried, though. The release is still slated for April 16th, right? -
Now there's an idea! That would be great. Car chases, bazookas and bad guys with sunglasses! It would be a great substitute for the agents theme, which was pretty much LEGO's sad attempt at homemade 007. If they made this theme, they would need to make new weapon molds (maybe) and that would make a lot of people happy. And some of those cars would look sweet and have great play features, such as missiles (flick-fires ) in the front of the car. Also, we would get lots of great female figs! Overall, this could be one of TLG's best licenses if they got it, cause kids love the action, and parents love the movies... and the action!
-
Lets hope that that NEVER comes out as a LEGO theme! And towards the Beavis and Butthead idea, that would never happen. I just don't think LEGO would see that as being child friendly enough. I know that AFOLS would like it (some would), but kids wouldn't. They are more likely to want themes with action and stuff, not two guys making dirty jokes. It just wouldn't sell.

This is just fantastic! Lots of great details, and I love the gold and black colour scheme! It has a bit of a Black Peral feel, with the whole cursed skellie pirates thing. Great job!

Wait, are you under the impression that Mortis is to be revisited in Season 4? If so, I seriously doubt it. All three beings are dead, and they kinda finished it when they did. The only things that need to be revisited from Season 3 in Season 4 are Oppress and Ventress.
