General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

This is probably my favourite of all the sets. Its got Barbossa! He's the best! And it has two of those new scabbards and hats, plus that new female hair for Elizabeth, and those new gold blocks! All you need is one new bottle piece and this set would contain a lot of the new stuff from this theme! -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion

Yes, but the beings are not people, but they ARE the force. They are just there to show how Anakin has the power to manipulate the force and bring it to balance. They can't be in the galaxy because they aren't really part of it. It was like a separate universe to which Anakin traveled so he could get insight into his fate. The beings didn't really exist, unless only in a dream. -

They can't bring the Yuzzanh Vong into TCW because (correct me if I'm wrong), the Vong had never been seen in the galaxy befroe the books they were in. If the Yuzzahn Vong appeared like thirty years earlier, it would screw up a lot of the EU stuff, which I believe is not really the goal of the writers for TCW. As for the idea that there is a Chosen Four, as Brickdocter mentioned, this is not true. The Father, Son, and Daughter were not Force-sensitives, but more human forms of the force. The Daughter was the light side, the Son the dark, and the Father created balance between the two. I don't look at these three characters as real people but metaphorical symbols for Anakin so he can realize his true purpose. With the death of the Father, it makes Anakin have to see that without balance, the force and the whole galaxy will tilt to one side. He must learn that his choices do not only affect him but the whole galaxy. And then skip ahead like a year and you've got Vader and the Empire (although Sidious mostly did that, so it inda punches a bit of a hole in this whole thing ). -
Vader and Maul are badass, but I must say I prefer Dooku's Sith name: Tyrannus. The name just drips with evil. Also, Aayla Secura and Quinlan Vos were both in the films (secura in AOTC and ROTS, and Quinlan Vos has a cameo in Mos Espa in TPM).

Interesting tid bit of info, those 'new things' sticking out of Blackbeard's beard are canon fuses. Apparantly he would put lit canon fuses in his beard to intimidate his enemies. Kinda cool... -
Interesting. I don't follow EU much at all. Hell, I haven't even read the Thrawn trilogy! I guess I'm just more a fan of the films.

One aspect of the Flying Dutchman I hope they get right is the triple guns, those canons that come out at the front of the ship. That will allow for some awesome playability! Also, I hope they give Davy Jones a different sword to be like the one he stole from Noringtton, but I doubt it. EDIT: Also, when the sets do come out, I was thinking about a POTC Funnies thread, similar to the one in the Star Wars forum. I have a bunch of great ideas for the old Mega Bloks figs and the new LEGO ones. It would'nt be neccesary to start it until all the sets are out and people have them, but I think a lot of great stuff could come from it. -

Ya, I was wonderin too if Blackbeard has a double head? Also, are Jack's hair/hat and the sword of Triton (Blackbeard's sword) hard plastic or softer? -
Ya, I heard something like that too. I heard one was going to be in outer space and one was gonna be under water.

You could make one building a pub for the pirates and wenches, while the other building could be an inn. That might work. You could use the building that already has the beds and stuff in it to make the inn and use the blacksmith shop as the pub. Just a thought...

Perhaps we aren't getting one this year?

Great, thanks! I was just thinking, and it would be great if TLG made a set similar to the Harry Potter Diagon Alley set, only Tortuga. They could then do justice to the port I think. A couple of buildings, and maybe a dock. Minifigs could be: Jack (duh), Gibbs, Will, Scarlett and Gazelle (those two wenches who always slap Jack in the face), and maybe Noringtton and Elizabeth in Dead Man's Chest garb. It would make a great exclusive set. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion

I think that George Lucas started TCW as a way to tell the story of the Clone Wars, but now he is using it as a way to explain other things that he had not been able to explain before. Take a look at the Mortis trilogy. Some of the ideas in those episodes Lucas had had from the start. There was an article on it on SW.com (I can't find it now, it was a while back). I don't think he wanted to change the fan's perception of the force with these episodes, he just wanted to show how much of an impact Anakin being the Chosen one has on the force. He used the whole Father, Son, Daughter thing as a metaphor to explain what he wanted too. As for all those political episodes, I like them. I think that they make the whole war seem more real. With a balance of action and political stuff it makes the war seem more believable to me. I mean, there is no war (well, recent war) that isn't over politics. -

Wow! Thanks for the pics! That little voodoo Jack is quite well done. Do you have any pics that may reveal whether or not Angelica's hat is connected to her hair or if they are two separate pieces? -

I love the figures, don't get me wrong, they're awesome! It's just... I don't know... Its like me with snakes. They freak the Mega Bloks out of me but I have no idea why. And with fictional creatures, its even more strange... -

I have a feeling that if there has been the release date of April 16th on the calendar and there are different releases in the UK and elsewhere, then the 16th is probably a North American release date, with the release in other countries a few weeks later. I hope they arrive here in Canada on the 16th! -

Man, this is going to be epic! I am so excited! Except for the mermaids... Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has made mermaids my worst fear... -
I'm sorry but I don't believe you read the title to this topic correctly. This is just for favourite Star Wars characters only.

I am pretty sure that every set will have this treatment for the instructions. There have been some of those POTC reviews floating around here on EB and one of the smaller sets, Isla de Meurta, has a review. It has this treatment.

I would think it would be a worldwide release date, and if it isn't, thats stupid. As for the shop@home, there is nothing on the Canada site either, and I doubt the US site has any info too. So, I think the sets will be up on the site on the 16th (and they better be in the stores too ) -

Davy Jones is my favourite POTC character, along with Jack and Barbossa. He will be my favourite minifig of the whole line (possibly of every line). As for the boxes thing, I am surprised that the Hero Factory boxes are s similar. I have not seen any of them, but you would think TLG would make sure they are different enough. -

I just took a look at the CAD prices, and they are all understandable except for Whitecap Bay. 100 bucks! Are you serious LEGO! Anyway, I am still gonna get all of them, and probably Isla de Meurta first (gotta love Barbossa! ) Also, I just finished watching At World's End, and I was thinking that it would be cool if they made Captain Fang's ship, with the cool asian style sails and crew members! EDIT: I just noticed that the hat that Blackbeard has in LEGO form looks nothing like the one he has in the film. They purposely designed his hat to be the perfect shape for Davy Jones's hat so they must be planning for him to appear eventually! -
The past three nights I've watched the three Pirates of the Caribbean movies in order. They are just fantastic. (I am getting myself pumped for the release of the POTC sets )
-
Here is another idea: the first scene where Jack is introduced, with the sinking dingy and the little dock. That would be neat.

These are pretty great. I really love the water detail on the first one. I'm just curious, are those bandanas orange? and if so, where did you get them?
