  1. I doubt Dwalin will have an alternate face since most of the back of his head is exposed. Possibly he will just have more scars. Also, I love Balin's happy face! And Falconer, good call on Thror's map! It looks epic!
  2. Thanks prateek! That looks awesome! You are right, that's a lot of green! Probably the most green I've seen in a set in a long time! I'm really excited for this set! I love the way they used SNOT to get the round door effect, and from what I can see, Theodore itself looks like it could be a new piece. Also, it looks like the roof will be detachable from the top for access inside. Can't wait to see some more pics!
  3. The reason that list of sets sounds like speculation to me is that, other than Bag End, the set names seem to be strange. I really doubt that a set depicting Gollum's cave will be called Mystery of the Ring. It would most likely be called 'Gollum's Cave'. Same goes for the other, especially the Orc King one. The name of the character is the Great Goblin, so if there is a set that would use his name, it would probably be something using Great Goblin, not Orc King. Anyway, hopefully we'll get at least a set list along with the pics of Bag End.
  4. That's good news! Also, I'm unsure about the design for Tom, Bert and Bill. They look really good, but I'm worried about the continuity between The Hobbit and LOTR. Regardless, this new design will definitely call for a new troll mold, as you said, deskp.
  5. She never had a gold brooch in LOTR. Also, her tiara isn't that different form the LOTR version, if at all. I think they could make a Hobbit version of her, in her white dress, and then a LOTR version that depicts the way she appears to Frodo if she were to have the Ring. That would be really cool, and would justify two completely different figures, and could add a bit of excitement into a possible Mirror of Galadriel set.
  6. For a second, I thought that was gonna be a link to a LEGO poster of Galadriel. Still, it's interesting to see her alone on a poster for The Hobbit. I really hope that LEGO makes a new female elf hair mold that can be used for Galadriel, Arwen, and Tauriel. I'm really excited to see what Tauriel will look like, both as a mini figure and in the film. I'm having a tough time imagining Evangaline Lilly as a blonde elf, unless she will be a dark haired Mirkwood elf.
  7. Bilbo's face looks great! Overall, the figure is really awesome! I really hope that we get more alternate faces, though, since those expressions won't really work with scenes set in Mirkwood, or the troll scene. Can't wait to see the rest of the Bag End figs up close, along with the set itself, which I hope will be a full building/hill with a roof/hilltop.
  8. If you have any plans to get interested in The Hobbit, read the book first. Also, I was taking a closer look at Bifur's movie appearance to see the chunk of axe in his forehead, and now that I've seen it it more detail, I think it will most likely be printed onto the head. I doubt LEGO would make a headpiece that so openly shows a chunk of axe protruding out of a characters head.
  9. They could retcon the TTT Wargs as having been bred in Isengard, much like the Uruks, which would explain their appearance.
  10. I wasn't aware of that. I suppose that the Wargs looking more like big wolves is more true to the book, but I don't like it. It means we won't be getting any Two Towers style Wargs until LEGO gets around to making a Warg ambush set. Still, the Wargs appearance in The Hobbit will force LEGO to make a new big wolf mold, which most likely won't be reusable outside of The Hobbit sets. On another animal related note, I noticed on the big banner poster released that Beorn has some silver strands of hair on either side of his head in bear form. This means two things: in the film, Beorn will ost likely have silver hair , and that the current bear used in the City sets will not be useable for Beorn, which will forced the creation of yet ANOTHER new mold for this theme! By the time LOTR and The Hobbit is done as a theme, it could possibly be the most expensive theme TLG will have made, due to the sheer amount of new molds needed.
  11. We could also take the appearance of Dwalin, Bombur, Bofur and Balin as a hint to some of the dwarves who might have more important roles in that scene of the film. Its like with the Moria set: all of the Fellowship was there, but who had the most memorable parts in the scene, such as Pippin and the well or Legolas fighting the troll. Also, I think some of these dwarves might get thrown in sets just because they need to go somewhere, like Merry in the Weathertop set.
  12. Bombur. He is the fat dwarf, so to show his extra weight, LEGO seems to have made one piece that has his stomach, beard and hair all connected, and it just fits over his head, much like the Gamorrean guards of Wookiees from Star Wars. I think it is the most effective way LEGO could have done it, and I wonder if the extra weight not only protrudes at the front but at the back too.
  13. The manner that these figs are lined up looks a lot like how they would appear on the front of a box. I'm assuming this is the minifig line up for Bag End, and we'll hopefully see images of the rest of the figs, if not actual finished versions on display.
  14. Thanks for the link to that poster! I can't tell if it's official or fan made, though. It seems official, but the Wargs look a lot like normal wolves, and nothing like those from LOTR. Also, I don't think we are gonna see a lot of repeats for the Hobbit sets. Sure there are trolls and spiders in both The Hobbit and LOTR, but in the Hobbit, there are three trolls outside by a big fire, unlike the one troll in Moria. The spiders are many, and most likely smaller compared to Shelob, and they are in a forest. And the goblins have a more defined leader, and will most likely have different armor, and maybe even look different from the Moria orcs. I wonder if LEGO will make the stone giants that play games during the big storm, before the group is swallowed up into Golblin Town.
  15. I think the movies will help with differences. They all look really different. Thanks, Grogall, for the hi res pic of these amazing figs! Upon closer inspection, Dwalin looks a lot better. I think that Balon is my favourite, though. He looks like Santa after a really rough Christmas eve!
  16. When is Comic Con? The sooner the better! I ant wait to see more pics! I really hope we get to see the three monstrous trolls!
  17. So far, he is my least favourite as well. He just seems really boring compared to the other dwarves there, with their crazy hair/hats. Bofur's hat just looks hilarious, and awesome! I'm really excited to see these guys weapons. They, from the looks of the promo images released of them, don't all have axes. Some have hammers, clubs, or even swords. I have a feeling we'll for sure be getting a new Orcrist mold, but we could see some for the unique swords used by Fili, Kili and Dori. Also, I think (and hope) that Gloin's hairpiece, if done similarly to Balin's, will look good for Gimli without his helmet. Then again, it will be cool to have Gimli and Gloin standing next to each other in mini figure form. I see father and son battle scene MOCs in the future!
  18. That's pretty darn cool! I hope that TLG's official Witch-King helmet looks similar to that!
  19. I don't think he has a differently shaped cape. I just think it has been pushed down by the bread piece, giving it a strange shape. Also, I gave Gimli the dark blue short cape from the CW Barriss Offee fig, and it looks really good.
  20. It would make sense for them to all be part of one Bag End set. I love the dark red cape Balin has. It looks awesome! Also, from what was hinted at in the source of this pic, it sounds as if LEGO will unveil more figs and possibly some sets at Comic Con. We just might get to see all the dwarves, and maybe some of the goblins, or a different Gollum!
  21. Oh my god! Holy Hobbits, those dwarves are absolutely stunning! It looks like Bombur's beard, hair, and stomach is all one piece! Also, Bofur's hat! And Balin's beard! Words cannot explain how excited I am for Decemeber 1st!
  22. I'm currently at 32 Uruks, plus 1 Lurtz and 1 Berserker. 14 of my Uruks are equipped with helmets, breastplates and halberds, and make up my pikemen portion of my army. I then have six swordsmen with swords, shields, breastplates, and helmets, two have hand shields, and two have hand helmets. The rest of my army is made up of scouts, or Uruk swordsmen without breastplates. I have 12 of these, 6 with helmets, 6 with hair. I am going to expand my army by another 16 Uruks, which will split up to 8 pikemen and 8 scouts. The numerous ways these soldiers can vary is of very little use to me, due to the fact that I prefer my armies to be separated by soldier types, so having a pikemen without a breastplate just wouldn't make sense in my army. I really hope when (or if) LEGO makes the Black Orcs that attacked Minas Tirith have a lot more variety, not only with accessories, but with skin colors and facial expressions. It is with Mordor that randomness will be allowed in my armies.
  23. I would love to see a special hair piece for Gandalf, more detailed than Dumblefores', that looks good with the new Gamdalf beard. Also, Saruman will never wear a hat. He (from what I can remember) was never described witha hat of any sort, and I think a hat would diminish the sinister look of the character. As for Radagast, to me, he has always seemed like a wizard with a hood. We'll just have to wait and see what they do!
  24. Ok, I see. I like the temporary items idea. It will give the game a more RPG-like feel. I'm interested to see what the smiths can actually do for the characters. Also, how do you know about the temporary items thing?
  25. It's really cool to see the combinations laid out like this. I do love that there is so much variation, but I've always seen the Uruk-hai to be a very uniformed, organized army, where all of them look the same. The white hand adds a little variety and the double faces add as well, but I really hope that when we have the ability to amass huge Mordor Orc armies, this kind of variation will be possible. Mordor orcs have always seemed to have a lot more differentiation between soldiers than the Uruks.
