Its a shame that LEGO didn't make a Bo-Rifle mold. Making a decent one out of existing parts is hard. Any suggestions?
-
Wow, I needed that comparison. This just solidifies my opinion that this new AAT is the worst version we've gotten yet. If only they'd made it as big as the blue Clone Wars one. I'm always a little pleased when there are Star Wars sets I don't want. Easier on my wallet, and I'm less bummed if I never have it in my collection.

When will we get images of the Azure Angel?

One thing I'm hoping for is for LEGO to use the Inquisitor armour style used on an update for Vader. Sure, we just got a nice new version this summer, but the Vader figure could use some sprucing up to make him more menacing. It's awkward when Sandtroopers stand taller than Lord Vader. Also, it's strange that we don't get Sabine's helmet. It's not like it would require a new piece, just new printing. A dark grey Mandalorian helmet with the appropriate printing would look great. I also like how both the Inquisitor's helmet and the helmets of the Royal Guards look very similar. Makes it easy to choose where the Inquisitor commands within an army.
-
AMAZING! Gotta say, the Rebels sets look amazing! Sabine is an awesome fig, as are Kallus and the Inquisitor. The Tusken is also stunning. I was surprised by the Droid Carrier, but its nice to see an easy Droid army builder and counterpart to the MTT. The Speeder Bike set may need to be my first buy from this wave. That and the TIE Advanced Prototype.

Better question is whether their Clone Wars style or Phantom Menace style.
-
That may be one of the coolest figs I've seen in a while.

I read that... lets just say that this, while still a rumour, shook me up a bit. I just don't know how to digest that sort of information. On a less sombre note, here is a spectacular piece of fan art of young Yoda (aged apporx. 120 years old) on the cusp of Knighthood. http://www.unleashthefanboy.com/news/young-yoda-movie-star-wars-episode-7/111528 To me, this proves that Disney could easily accomplish a Yoda stand-alone while still keeping the muppet Jedi shrouded in mystery. Rather than delve into the origin of the character, they could explore how he rose to the position of Grand Jedi Master, and what state the Republic was in during his adventures as a Jedi Knight. Show us Yoda's relationship with his Master and how what he learned shaped him into the wise old muppet we all know and love.

I find the Rebel Stormie hate to be a little odd. This is the first BP we've ever had that is exclusively Stormtroopers (the first Imperial BP had one Darktrooper, which wasn't bad, but you get my point). Sure, the Rebel Stormies look different from the regular Saga versions, but I think the prospect that this is the first real way for us to easily stock up on Stormtroopers far outshines the fact that they have slightly cartoony printing. If you think about it in terms of the fact that LEGO wisely dropped the cartoony fig design they had for The Clone Wars in preference for a more classic design, the Rebels figs fit in with regular Saga figs quite easily. We could've had a lot worse.

One thing that I noticed was how different these prelims look compared to prelims of the past. These images are predominantly digital, rather than real LEGO. It just seems weird.

Wow! These images were unexpected, but very welcome! Here are my thoughts: Micro Fighters: Kinda cute, but I have very little interest in these. Imperial Troop Transport: this is EXACTLY what I wanted! Thank you LEGO! Finally a good Imperial army builder! Shadow Troopers: HOLY BRICKS! This could easily be my favourite Battle Pack ever. It really seems like LEGO wanted to squeeze some last EU stuff out before Disney really cracks down on what is top be made, and I'm glad they did. I'll probably end up getting two of these. Geonosis Troopers: I'm pleasantly surprised. TLG seem to have done an interesting thing here. Rather than give us accurate troopers, they've essentially taken the Kashyyk BP and recoloured it. Plus, the walker actually looks good and the big gun looks like it will be really fun. Senate Commandos: Is this being released? I thought we had word that this was cancelled? Either way, I'm not hugely impressed, but thats mainly because the figs are still extremely prelim. Ezra's Speeder Bike: A nice little set. from what I can tell, the bikes are really cool. Sabine will make a great fig, and its cool getting a Stormie. Definite buy. AT-DP: Pretty much what I expected, and I'm very happy with it. My only gripe is that we get two AT-DP drivers. Swap one of those for the Stormie is the Bike set and it makes a lot more sense to me. TIE Advanced Prototype: Again, this is what I expected. I am surprised that we're getting an Imp. Officer (hopefully based on Aresko), so thats a big plus. Hailfire Droid: Why? This set kinda feels pointless. And only one trooper? This set would have so much more appeal if it had a Jedi instead of a Trooper. Give us a new Kit Fisto! AAT: WHAT THE HECK IS THIS TRASH!!!! I rarely am upset with any Star Wars set, but this is just a joke. Its so small! Honestly, next to the blue Clone Wars AAT this will look like a Micro Fighter! I guess I'm just really disappointed that we've waited this long for a new tan AAT and this is what we get. Sure, its nice, but it just looks bad. I guess it will match the new MTT perfectly. T-16 Skyhopper: Its nice to see an old classic again. But the Tusken makes the set. And if that rat gets replaced with a new Womp rat mold, I'll need to get this. Azure Angel: This makes me sooooo happy! The Azure Angel was always one of my favourite parts of the Tartakovsky CW series, and it kinda sucked that they decided to leave it out of the newer series. The fact that LEGO decided to make this makes no sense to me, but I have a feeling that this will be the best selling set of the wave. What kid doesn't want Anakin AND Ventress AND a sweet ship? Theres so much playability with this set! The only thing I wonder is whether we're gonna get the same old CW versions of Anakin and Ventress, or if LEGO will be super nice and give us Tartakovsky-style figs. I'd love a Ventress with her black and white eyes and outfit. And if Anakin is wearing his torn tunic from their duel on Yavin, this will officially become the best fan-service set ever. Definitely the best set of the wave! Overall, this is one of the best January waves we've had in a while, at least in my opinion. While there are a few lacklustre sets, the new Rebels stuff, the Azure Angel, and 4 battle packs easily make up for it!

So I was over looking at Whitefang's delightful review of the 12th CMF series and kept thinking about how many of the hairpieces and whatnot would look great for other custom characters, especially Jedi. That got me thinking about how few Jedi figs we have that aren't CW style. Lets list them: Seasee Tinn - from Palpatine's Arrest, doesn't need an upgrade Agen Kolar - same as above Stass Allie - pretty recent fig, looks great Coleman Trebor - same as above Barriss Offee - 2010 fig, needs an update Kit Fisto - the current and only design, desperately needs an upgrade. Other than this, I can't think of any named Jedi, apart from main characters, that have either never been made or only exist as CW figs. So, why not do a Jedi Battle Pack? If there is any right time to do it, it is now. Think about it. This year marked the first time LEGO has released what were essentially 3 Battle Packs in one wave together since the Bps debuted in 2007. Next year's winter wave has a similar pattern, and my guess is that this is how LEGO plans to do things for at least the next two years (just a guess). So why not do a Jedi Battle Pack set during the Arena Battle in AOTC? Lets list the Jedi that I believe are necessary to have a successful representation of the Jedi Order at the time of the downfall of the Republic: Ki-Adi Mundi Plo Koon Luminara Unduli Shaak Ti Honorable Mentions: Aayla Secura With this laid out, we see how few it really is to fill in the gaps. Give us one Battle Pack, same size as the Utapau Troopers set, with Ki-Adi, Shaak Ti, Luminara and Plo Koon fighting two dwarf spider droids. Sure, people won't buy lots of multiples, but every kid will jump at a bunch of Jedi, and what AFOL wouldn't take the chance to get those many named characters at such a low price. And alas, price is where my whole idea kinda comes falling down. I really think that the only serious thing that would hold this idea back is the price point. At 24$ (which is what I believe these new 3rd Battle Packs will be priced), it seems unrealistic that LEGO would be able to pull off production on all the various molds in the quantities needed and get enough return for their effort. Anyway, this is now on my wanted list.

My version uses the same two pieces, however the black lightsaber hilt is attached to the back end of the pistol, to give a sense of the length of the blaster compared to a regular Stormie blaster. This also works well using either the pistol or the standard short-range rifle, but obviously not the long-range rifle.
-
Ok. And yeah, Boba's blaster looks bad. Luckily there are lots of alternative possibilities.
-
Jango's blaster? What?
-
Oops, thats hilarious
-
Wow, she's gorgeous! Probably my favourite of the UCS sets to date! (yet it helps that the Slave 1 is my second favourite ship in Star Wars). I also love that they gave Boba arm printing! That feels like a nod to he AFOLs and other hardcore fans who've been pining for a fully decorated Fett since the Bespin set. Good job LEGO! The price is a bit steep, but unlike the Sandcrawler, this may be one set I just can't pass up. She's just too perfect.

I like the way you structured this. I have a very similar plan too. Mainly I just don't like it when figs are left displayed with their set because theres likely better places they could be.
-
General Magma, I meant new molds. The Disney XD Rebels promos we've seen show Stormies with weird new helmets, which makes me believe that either this cartoon is no basis to guess what the future figs will look like, or we will be getting new Stormie helmet molds exclusive to the Rebels sets.
-
Do people actually believe we'll get special Rebels Stormtrooper helmets? I wouldn't be opposed, it just seems kinda unnecessary to me. I don't know that these Disney XD shorts are actually gonna be an indication of what future stuff will look like. That guy with the black hair and orange shirt that we saw in another XD promo looked too much like a fake character LEGO would invent for the shorts, kinda like something from The Yoda Chronicles. Also, I found this list of all the 2015 sets known as of yet: http://www.neoape.com/rumored-lego-2015-sets-roundup/ It has the Troop Transport and Shadow Troopers lumped in with the OT sets, which is a really good sign. Then again, the Hailfire Droid and Anakin's Custom Starfighter (which sounds a lot like his ship form the 03-04 CW series) are listed under Rebels, so things may still be a little unclear.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Fives replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Spooky Girl is my favourite for some reason. Kinda feels like something LEGO never tackled before. The Wizard is super fun, and reminds me of the Merlin for The Sword in the Stone. The Hun is fantastic. I was already super happy about it, but the fact that he has a new cape is amazingly fun and really cool. Must have at least one. I love the Dino Hunter's legs. Just seems like an awesome piece. Other than that, I'm not hugely interested in the rest. There are a lot more new cool pieces in this series than I feel we've gotten from a CMF series for a while, so thats a major plus.- 1,109 replies

Signed, plus I sent a bunch of my friends a request to sign. While I feel like this may not get enough supporters, it would be amazing if we got one amazing D2C Minas Tirith. It would literally have everything we need to complete the theme (Eowyn, Faramir, Gondorians, armoured Merry and Pippin, The Witch-King in armour with Fell Beast, potentially Morannon Orcs and maybe Men of Harad and Rhun, possibly even a armoured Battle Troll). Plus, if they made it similar in design to Helm's Deep (which I feel would be the obvious choice) but maybe double or triple the size, we'd have one of the most gorgeous and detailed castles even made by TLG. Also, I feel like that would actually be an amazing accomplishment by LEGO. I feel like they've made so many amazing sets like the Death Star (both the 2005 display or 2008 playset models), both the recent Sandcrawler and Endor Village sets, Metalbeard's ship, the Simpsons House, as well as numerous other amazing D2C sets), but they've never truly had an amazing and/or breathtaking castle-themed D2C set. One could argue that the Kingdoms Joust set from a few years ago might be up there, but in comparison to the likes of the Death Star and even the LEGO Movie ship, it falls flat of really 'wowing' people (at least thats my opinion). Tackling one of the most famous a beloved castles in all of literature and pop culture would be a stellar move business-wise as well. Because of the LEGO Movie, I feel like TLG has been getting a lot more attention and popularity from a much wider group of people than they've ever had before. There are likely enough people out there who would think this idea is cool enough to support. This thought gives me hope that it will easily reach its needed goal. Hopefully this works, and sorry for kinda wish-listing there, but it seemed appropriate.

The Shadow Trooper BP sounds amazing. I wonder if they will have Lightsaber Pikes or just basic weapons. Also, I'm SO happy we're finally getting the long-needed Tusken Raider update. I wonder if it will come with a gaffi stick, and if yes whether it will be made out of multiple pieces (which would totally work) or a new mold (which would be cool but kinda unnecessary)?

Its canon according to Tolkien Gateway http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Dáin_Ironfoot Says he used his red axe to behead Azog during the War of Dwarves and Orcs.

Hmmm... while I feel like a dingus for believing a lot of the rumours, I'm not surprised many of them are false. Part of me almost believes that Abrams could perhaps be feeding false rumours to keep people of the scent of actual facts about the film. But thats just a funny thought. It seems to me that whoever this person is claiming these rumours to be false isn't necessarily debunking everything outright. He's more just saying that everything we've heard has equal potential to both be or not be part of the film, with the exceptions of the casting of Billie Lourd and the inclusion of Inquisitors. There are also a few other rumours that he didn't touch on, which I found surprising. http://makingstarwars.net/2014/08/star-wars-episode-vii-rumors-post-endor-ewoks-dooku-connection-leia-hutts-lucas-vision/ Again, these are all just rumours and could easily be Bantha crap like the rest, but some of it is just interesting to think about.
