  1. Hello dear community! Today I'd like to share some starships from the movie "Independence Day" with you. Source material is rare for these, and you have to watch the movie carefully. They're of course not to scale as the mothership would have the size of your house then. The ships in this movie are not shown to great detail, and thus the miniatures don't match the usual detail quiality standard. Sorry. Well anyway, here's what we're talking about in this post: The first ship of the aliens entering the atmosphere are the giant 25-Mile-Ships. They have one command tower which has been built with a clicky hinge and a 1x2x2/3 slope which compensates the curve of the dish to give the horizontal layer of the bridge. When firing its primary weapon you can move the clip plates to focus the beam. Unable to destroy the 15-Mile-Ships it comes to a dogfight with the alien fighters. It was quite hard to get this in tiny scale with all its curves. The result is pretty snotty. Still unable to fight back the aliens the defenders decide to attack the gargantuan mothership. This has the shape of half an egg, a highly difficult shape to construct with bricks. I cam up with an approximation with many slopes and wedge bricks. I agree it's one of the uglier models I have made so far. Finally, after having infected the alien force with a computer virus, the defenders escape through a narrow corridor inside the mothership where we can spot another vessel, probably being a kind of troopship of an invasion force. This ship is only seen for a few seconds. Hence I'd like to include a small image collection I took: The result is pretty primitive and extremely straight-forward. But It wouldn't make sense to invent a super complicated construction for a blurry ship we don't know what it is and how it looks in detail. That's all for today. On a small side-note, I set up a small sub site of my homepage that will deal with many models from many different movies. You can access it either via my homepage (link in signature) or directly here: http://misc.deckdesigns.de/ Thank you for your time and interest. Yours Christopher.
  2. Hello there! Well, I don't know anything about "Starcraft" but nonetheless I am impressed with what you presented to us here. This immense capital ship is a vast source of great building techniques which can be found all over the ship. Besides the huge greebling amount, I am especially fond of that brick-built name you embedded in the ship's hull. Excellent build, thanks for sharing it! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  3. Hello! Many nice things to discover here! The weapon technique practising/training setups are all very imaginative. I also find the turned around pirate look-out with the exactly matching 2x2 round plate an excellent table variant. My favourite details is the little mouse that's after the croissant. Such details let you smile. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  4. Hello! It's clearly visible that Senor Palomar is one of the richer Mexican citizens, as he lives in an impressive home. Those coloured arches look great and also the 1x2 triple slopes directly under the roof eaves look perfect here. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  5. Hello! I've seen all those great creations alone, but gathered to a wonderful large-scale setup, they look even more impressive! There seem to be a problem with the video though. It says "contains content of Sony music" and thus "is not available in my country" (Germany). How can a video with bricks contain Sony Music content? I'm slightly confused now. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  6. Hello again! Thank you all for the many nice compliments! I was not sure if it would be liked, but this proves again that here is a great place to share ideas. Thank you for frontpaging it, Shadows, and also a big thank you for creating this amazing image, TheBrickster! I hope to do more like this in the future to enhance the collection (all 200+ models are kept intact). See you soon, ~ Christopher
  7. Hello! Although the SNOT techniques are pretty straight-forward, I like this litte model nonetheless. It's a good source for those bright green transparent curved slopes. Thanks for the review and heads-up. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  8. Hello and happy new year to everyone! I'd like to start with a mini model from the Indiana Jones movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark" this year. A similar version has been in BrickJournal last year, but has been overhauled since then. It now features more camouflage look. The difficult part of this model are the only slightly bent-up wings. To get this done in brick I used the fact that the 1x2 door rail plate is a little less than 1.5 plate wide. This allows for a slight bening up of the wings with old-style hinge plates below them. I will edit this post as soon as BrickShelf updates and include a link for the instructions for those who are interested. Have a great week-end and thank you for your time and interest! ~ Christopher
  9. Hello! I think it's a great idea coming up with more MOCs for the subthemes of the Toy Story line. This will bring us more great creations in this forum, like yours. You did an excellent job creation another vehicle for the little green men, even with the more limited parts variety in green colour. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  10. Hello! It's nicely colourful! If you don't mind I'd recommend to always post a link to the original set which has been modified. This makes it easier for people who are not familiar with it, to spot the modifications. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  11. Hello! That's a nice helicopter, using many wedge pieces! I especially like the way the cockpit closes by using the trapezoid flags. As a minor hint: I would not have trans red and trans green tiles on both sides of the vessel. That's confusing the air traffic. Starboard (the right side) should have green lights while port (the left side) has red lights. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  12. Hello! You might want to check his Blog here. http://panzerbricks.wordpress.com/ It's in spanish, but in the "About" section (Acerca de...) you'll find also an email adress. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  13. Heya! Yeah, sure I know Sascha has those in red. By the way, the correct link would be: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=868&colorID=5 But still, it's a piece that is not in any official set in that colour. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  14. Hello! I don't know if there are still alternate building suggestions on the back of each box, but yours is definitely better than any potential official one. It's put so well together that it could be a set on its own. The combination with the official set is a nice touch, and reminds me a bit to the Star Wars Jabba Palace set which could also be expanded to each side. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  15. Hello! Nice mini model! The hexagonal shape is fine and the greebly antenna interior looks very authentic. Maybe you want to add some engine glowing at the back. This makes a ship more lively. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  16. Hello! I saw this on BrickShelf recently and only waited for it to be posted here. Another really outstanding space creation this is. It's simply a pleasure to look at this diorama. So many layers, platforms, corners and doors. That's the perfect scene. And also that spaceship is excellent! I pretty much like the cockpit construction, and the guy cleaning the windscreen is a nice touch. The color spots ins the basic gray scheme are really eye-catching. Simply fantasctic. All of it! Thanks for building this! ~ Christopher
  17. Hello! Great models here! The A-Wing is fantastically smooth and also a nice show-off of normally not available red technic half pins. I also am impressed by the original Landspeeder construction using those large otherwise useless big pieces. The details are very accurate including the partially broken side jet. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  18. Hello! These "dragsters" were among the most common alternate building possibilities of many town set's box backs. I like the sue of the minifig airtanks hidden at the rear, as they are kind of unusual for cars. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  19. Hello! This second version you posted is really good and very functional! The droid arm for grabbing the waste bins is a good idea. And it's also great you added some flashlights on the roof of the vehicle now which was also missing on the first version. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  20. Sorry, I am no instruction service for official models. But maybe you want to check the official instrcutions which are available free at Peeron? http://www.peeron.com/scans/10030-1/221 ~ Christopher
  21. Hello! Again an impressive example that even a small complement of bricks is enough for a great creation. I also agree with all the others that the forward position of the fron wheels looks much better. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  22. Hello! Thank you again for your comments and tips! They're highly appreciated! By the way, this is an Imperial frigate. We don't allow Rebels to dock at it. Cheers, Christopher
  23. Hello! With lots of minifigures in a scene there's always a lot to discover. Like here. All the different castle shields gathered in one creation is really nice. I also like the jumping knight "standing" on the clear plates. All in all a lot of motion everywhere. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  24. Hello! Using the skeleton leg as an arm is really original! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  25. Hello Nannan! That's really outstanding! Very very smooth looking, no studs visible. Almost like a mirror. Also the symmetry makes this an eye catcher. My favourite pices used here are the old octagonal submarine pieces, which I also used recently for something completely different. All the best, ~ Christopher
