  1. Hello! The mummy storage container is being listed under "gear" on BrickLink. The contaienr itself sold two times this year, in July and August. So there is some hope for you that this container tends to appear from time to time. Here is the price guide entry on BrickLink: price guide for "Metallic Gold Mummy Storage Container Complete Assembly Without Stickers" Good luck! ~ Christopher
  2. Hello there! Well, one could think that if you loved it sooo much, you would have saved the images yourself. Anyway, the trick is pretty straight forward here. As you might know maj.com changed to majhost.com. So you simply go to the new URL and search for the name "velociraptor" and select his/her "Indiana Jones Folder". And then you'll find the images again. Here you go: I hope these are the images you were looking for, as I was not active yet when this thread was created and died down. All the best, ~ Christopher PS: Here's the updated update link posted by TheBrickster some posts above: Indiana Jones layout by "velociraptor" on majhost.com
  3. Hello! When I opened the topic I was not sure if this an official sets review or a MOC. Perfect illusion. I am more attracted by the gangster racer, which is nicely designed with lots of greebling in mind. All those hands, arms, utensils, hinges really give it the feel of a fast engine with seat. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  4. Hello! That's an unusual design. But it turned out very well with all the curved and rounded smooth elements! The rotating thrusters are a nice tuch, well thought out. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  5. Hello dear builders! That's a great contest, and I am already looking forwards to see vehicles with garlands, stars, and other shiny objects. For those who want to participate but don't know yet what to build, I'd like to provide some inspiration to you coming from a similar contest on a different platform last year. Most links in the archived threads are still working, and there are some pretty nice things to get ideas from. Here are the links: - Christmassified vehicles - Christmas vignettes So, thanks to KimT for taking the effort to set up a building contest for the community, happy building everyone, and good luck! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  6. Hello already again! You're quick, both of you, and thank you for the nice comments. I am glad you like the X-Wing and I will have a try with a blue astromech droid (@Jim) at the week-end (currently I am at work with all bricks unaccessable). If you'd like a copy of it (@BigCam), I will gladly provide you with a parts list if you wish. Thank you also for your appreciation of the Expanded Universe. I just try to let people who are not yet very familiar with it to participate a bit in the huge Expanded Universe. And yes, I also have two Flickr accounts. They are "Legostein" and "Mini_Wizardy", although I have not uploaded the Star Wars models yet. See you soon, ~ Christopher
  7. Hello! You don't sound too enthusiastic here either. It sounds like you didn't care which is sad. It's such a nice greebly-rich creation which deserves a little description. You should try to win the community for your creation. Come on, give it a try. Tell us what you built, what inspired you to build it, what problems did you have to solve, what building tricks does it feature, where does its interesting name come from, etc. That's what we want to know. Awake our interest! All the best, ~ Christopher

    Space Bar

Hello! Your space cantina is really fantastic! It uses so many tiles everywhere which make it look so smooth that you could think it's directly from the model designers of a Hollywood movie. Indeed does it remind me to some great SciFI movies. I also particularly like the small some-shaped spacecraft on the landing platform, as well as the great little shining UFO on the top of the roof serving as a kind of company logo. All in all, a pleaure for the eyes and well designed! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  9. Hello everbody! How wrong the Empire was with its assumption (see topic title) is well known among us, as many of the Empire's superweapons (e.g. Death Stars) or flagships (e.g. Executor) were defeated by exactly these small one-man fighters. I'm glad to be back, and I am sorry I couldn't make it earlier but the real life job kept me busy, even on the week-end this time. Today I'd like to present half a dozen of Rebel starfighters to you. One has been unpublished yet (X-Wing), so this gives me the chance for a quick introduction. -------------------- I'd like to start with the X-Wing Starfighter which has just been uploaded to my collection homepage. At a first glance this may look similar to the official LEGO® mini set, however it is very different, which I will try to explain. Usually I try to avoid overlappings with the official line, except for when I see the possibility of improvement. The official model looked too "studdy" in my eyes, although I often like using studs as details. But not in this case. Especially the long tip of the nose with the stud looked kind of disturbing. The wing construction is indeed similar to the official mini but that's about all. The new version has the following improvements: short and smooth nose tip, smooth top nose (1x4 tile), trans-black tooth plate as cockpit instead of ordinary 1x2 plate, glowing engines and detailed laser cannons. Let me quickly highlight a special construction trick. The cockpit is not connected to the rest of the ship in a conventional manner. It's what I call the "sliding connection". As the construction uses many half stud steps which are neccessary for a smooth layout, the cockpit can only be attached that way. But it's fixed tightly between the engines. The increase from 1 to 2 studs in width towards the back of the ship here is realized by the 3x2 plate with hole on which the cockpit slides. -------------------- Let's stay in "A New Hope" for a moment and look at the second type of Rebel starfighter we get to see there, the Y-Wing Starfighter. I quite like the official version, so I had to come up with something completely different. It's more a design study, as it uses totally unconventional pieces. It consists of two blocky clicky hinge pieces. When I first saw these pieces, immediately an idea popped up in my mind, namely 'Hey they look like an Y-Wing!'. hence I tend to call it h(Y)nge-Wing. -------------------- Now to continue with "Return of the Jedi", two new rebel ships are introduced here. We can see the B-Wing Starfighter in action. It's a very old model of mine, but I still like it and saw no reason or possibility to rebuild it. I agree it's pretty tiny, but quite recognizable for its size. The smaller you build, the harder it gets to realize the correct shape. It can also fold up the wings to its landing position as you can see when you click the image to see the entire gallery. -------------------- Being even faster than the TIE-Interceptor, the A-Wing Starfighter is difficult to pilot. It's difficult to build too. The two-coloured narrowing of the front was really tricky, and I was glad to have good old glat hinge plates in stock. The second tricky party about the A-Wing is the back part. The fins are unfortunately not completly vertical. They're slightly angled. A bricked solution can be realized by 1x2 plates with side bar sticked into 1x1 plates with clip. A nice touch are the engines, which are actually Belville flowers. But these pieces are often the only possibility to have engines at the end of a bar. -------------------- With that we're done with the official movies, but there's still the Expanded Universe (EU) which hold several more Rebel/new republic Starfighters for us, out of which I'd like to present two to you. Appearing in the "Dark Empire" comic series, a real treasure for new vehicles and vessels, we first see the new E-Wing Starfighter, a fast, maneuverable and well-armed starfighter which serves the New Republic well, as you can read in several other EU novels like the "Black Fleet Trilogy" for example. It has three laser cannons, proton, torpedos and double angled wings. -------------------- The last ship for today is the T-Wing Starfighter, originally intended to be the successor of the A-Wing Starfighter. Fortunately for the capable A-Wing Starfighter, the T-Wing was a rather poor design, and didn't make it to high production numbers. It only appeared in three computer games. The fighter itself always reminded to the Colonial Viper of the Battlestar Galactica franchise, and indeed inspired me to also build Battlestar Galactica mini models. -------------------- With that I am done for today. I thank you for your time and interest and which you a great week! See you around, ~ Christopher
  10. Hello! That's a really massive church you're sharing with us here. Although it's so large, the amount of details is stunning. The round mosaic on the floor caught my attraction, and in particular those laser guns as window elements! These are exactly the things I am always impressed about. Unexpected parts usage! Well done! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  11. Hello! A great opening to your new theme line! A nice playset with lots of functionality. My favourite details is the trumpet decoration. That's very original! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  12. Hello there! It takes a while to dive into to wonderfully designed layout. There's so much to dicover that it's hard to put it into words. You show love for detail, which I admire a lot. A clothesline, fume out of the chimney, and a seaplant piece out of the sewerage are only a few obvious examples. You also like figures in motion, and manage to include a lot of fun into your scene. My favourite detail is the rowboat being pushed down into the water by the impact of the minifigure who fell into it. You can clearly see a little story that happened, although you use only one image. My congratulations on this felicitous scene. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  13. Hello! The cockpit window construction on the first one is really imaginative! You got the perfect shape by using a much bigger piece than it is visible and let it appear smaller. I have one question though. What kind of evil strange tree with squared foot can be seen on the right side? Cheers, ~ Christopher
  14. Hello! That's a very functional command central, with many details, nicely designed. I especially like the glass walls and the refreshing cell, details that are more rarely portrayed in brick. Now we should have a milky glass for the door of the refresher that could guarantee privacy, but there is not obvious solution to this currently. It looks smooth, it looks functional and it looks clean. The exterior look is only disturbed by... the pattern of your kitchen table. Maybe you could have found a less busy place despite next to the sandwich toaster and water boiler. But that's only a minor suggestion, the creation is great! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  15. Hello Klaus-Dieter, a really nice scene you present to us here! It's good to see that the chimney is really connected to the oven, a detail that often is missed. Furthermore the christmas garland is a really nice touch! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  16. Hello! A beautiful designed truck. It's clever in so many ways. As mentioned before, you assembled the truck excellent around the tank. Frurthermore that cockpit mirror construction with the hinge bar is notably clever. And also the 2x1 curved bricks to give the tyical look for a truck of that brand. Very well done! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  17. Hello! That's a great addition to your street. It certainly looks very good! My favourite detail is the sun umbrella. It's a great example for the perfect alternate piece use as it fits so lovely in your house front. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  18. Hello! Well, I don't know what a Twortise is at all but I know what a Tortoise is. Which is the only similar word that came to mind. Maybe you can shed some light on that? The spider is clearly recognizable as member of its species. The barbed hooks on the legs look threatening as they should. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  19. Hello! That's a good alternate use of the Islander theme legs. Well assembled! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  20. Hello! Well, sledging was always fun, and I still do it. But please don't get me wrong, that creation looks a bit lonely. It's a simply design, and the snow already begins to melt. It looks like someone forgot it on the ski racing track. A way to breathe some life into this would be equip it with a lying TECHNIC® figure which should have the right size for your sled. And I would use a white baseplate or arctic raised baseplate or cover the green one completely with bricks. When you build winter scenes you want to see snow only and no molten areas. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  21. hello! That is a really adorable little town here! The narrow street with its many edges and corners between the houses is fantastic! A good compliation of photos you linked to. I spotted a weaving loom which is simply great! Those vehicle doors are in very clever use here! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  22. Hello! Congratulations on completing your theme! It was a pleasure to see its development over the last week. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  23. Hello and welcome to these fine boards! The starship you presented to us is pretty good! What I especially like about the ship is its comfortable and roomy interior. Furthermore those engines are a real eye-catcher. Using the octagonal handle plate definitely works very well here! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  24. Hello! That's really a sleek design! I like the use of the large clicky hinge plate with angled sided. One thing that might be added is a bright and shiny headlight. I am missing that here, and it is essential for travelling under water. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  25. Hello! That's a great scene with a lot of movement regarding its small size. The motion of the big handle is great. The wheel as small handle is a clever idea. The entire scene reminds me to the movie "Space Cowboys" and would be a perfect quote of it. Cheers, ~ Christopher
