  1. No worries, it's still a pleasure to look at, even if we know the inside construction details. See you around!
  2. Ahoy there! A really impressive ship so far. As a fan of unusual parts use, I appreciate the use of the clam shell, inverted, as roof for the bay windows! Good luck on the further building steps!
  3. Thank you again for your comments everyone! Right. You're right. Time for the pitrates. Arrr.
  4. Very impressive ships! I especially like the wavy brick-built flags you add on your vessels!
  5. I will take this as a compliment. Building old-school playsets as you call it, can be quite a challenge, too. Those ships are not built in 5 minutes either. It takes quite some time to come up with a clear design that would have fit into the original pirate series. You are right, the masts are really expensive, although there are enough of them on the market. More troublesome is to find original sails which are even more expensive. But anyway, this series is finished. Here is the last vessel I have built for the trading fleet so far: A schooner brig. The fore sail is not set currently, only the top sail. The main mast is set with gaff sail and top gaff sail. It has space for 2 dozen barrels when you use cargo bays below deck and on the upper deck. At the end of this thread there are two fleet pictures, including the original trading ship from set 6277. Have a good time everyone!
  6. An excellent layout with many great details and a harmonic color scheme! Well done and good luck!
  7. Thank you for your interest and stepping-by! If you don't mind, I would like to share a little update. When you read the thread's title correctly, it says "new ships" (with a plural s). So here is a little merchant cog, inspired by classic castle set 6057 "Sea Serpent", also from the year 1992. Have a good day everyone! More images on FlickR.
  8. Thanks for your comment and interest!
  9. Thank you everyone for the kind comments! All of you who mentioned the colors are right! Getting them right, and let the ship look like a set that could have been released those days in the 90s, is an important aspect of the moc, too! See you around!
  10. Now that the color scheme has been changed, will it travel under the same flag for the same faction as before? I like that you still use the yellow submarine corner panels (part 30079) for the bay windows. Great parts use there!
  11. My congratulations on this important milestone! Good luck for the further process!
  12. No he's not. He is wearing a yellow shirt as you correctly pointed out. But yes, it quite a challenge to have yellow clothing when using yellow heads and hands.
  13. Excellent rain and storm effects! And as already pointed out: the water surface looks really realistic! It even seems to be transparent. You're also an artist!
  14. Hello everybody! It's now 30 years ago when the legendary set "Imperial Trading Port" (set number 6277) was released in the year 1992. The small-hulled trading ship quickly became a favourite one among fans. Personally, I still find the set and the theme exciting till today! Hence, I'd like to introduce a new merchat ship to the Trading Fleet: A square-rigged caravel with lots of space for many barrels below the main deck. The bow is constructed by using old 4x4 space wings with cutout swiftly allowing us to install a keel. Enjoy the new ship and see you around! Congratulations Trading Fleet! Cheers! 17. A modular addition! The lovely treasure is the crowd of little turtles for sure!
  18. Thank you, but no, the figures are not for sale. Sorry. Correct!
  19. Hello, and thank you! You can of course buy the torsos, and all parts needed. For example on Bricklink (part numbers are given above) or any other online parts platform. Cheers!
  20. Good luck with this really outstanding design!
  21. Hello everybody! Today, I would like to show you a possible theme expansion for the Armada sub-theme of classic pirate theme of 1996. I am sure most of you can remember the blue/white Armada Flagship (set 6280). Here we have a smaller companion for it: a small caravel with two lateen sails, built in the same color scheme as its larger cousin. Some similar design elements from the larger flagship have been used, intentionally, to make it clearly a possible addition of the theme. Have a good start into the new week! More images on FlickR.
  22. ... and hat! Those are pretty costly, too, and the ones here look like being in perfect condition. Okay, let me propose some more printed hips for your project. Part 970c00pb0755 (The black bar is more fine as in the middle option in the picture you showed us above.) Part 970c00pb0076 (I think this could work out nicely.) Good luck with your project!
  23. Thank you for the frontpage and your kind comments! There is much more to come! I have spent much energy into these small-hull boats, and developed new building techniques for me to build them. See you soon!
  24. Hello everbody! First of all, this is a GREAT topic! Building authentic minifigures for the pirate theme is not as easy as it looks like (many hairstyles, clothing types, and hats were not invented yet), and you all did a great job on that! I would like to contribute, too, in presenting my first series to you: Pirate People: Series 1 - Lords and Ladies BrickLink part numbers for the torsos used: From top left (last row) to bottom right (front row) 973pb4376c01 Harry Potter, character: Gilderoy Lockhart 973pb1312c01 Collectible Minifigures, character: Judge 973pb0355c01 Knights Kingdom II, character: Jayko 973pb0352c01 Knights Kingdom II, character: Rascus 973pb0161c01 Harry Potter, character: Gilderoy Lockhart 973pb0160c01 Harry Potter, character: Gilderoy Lockhart 973pb0605c01 Star Wars, character: Chancellor Palpatine 973pb1675c01 Collectible Minifigures: Nelson Muntz (Simpsons) 973pb1276c01 Lord of the Rings, character: Bilbo Baggins 973pb2536c01 Fantastic Beasts, character: Newt Scamander 973pb1612c01 Collectible Minifigures, character: Velma Staplebot (LEGO® movie) 973px83c01 Star Wars, character: Padme Naberrie (Amidala) 973pb4040c01 Harry Potter, character: Gilderoy Lockhart 973pb4327c01 Harry Potter, characrer: Mr. Flume 973pb0123c01 Harry Potter, character: Albus Dumbledore 973pb0583c01 Star Wars, character: Nute Gunray More photos on FlickR.
