  1. Okay, thanks. I just watched the video. They are indeed a lot narrower and have only 2 studs offset. I do have the impression that the pin holes come close to the outer surface of the rim, just like with the Porsche rims. However, being this narrow, I don't think the 8448 rims are a real option for any of today's supercars. @Jeroen, don't bother
  2. Could you also post an image of the 8448-wheels stacked next to the Porsche wheels?
  3. @Jeroen About the disc brakes that you intended, but might have to drop because of the Porsche rims missing axle holes. You could consider using the 8448-rims and tires. These rims come with axle hole and as far as I know they also have a deeper offset, just like the new Porsche rims. I've been thinking about this before, but wasn't sure it would be an options at all. But now, just a minute ago I saw someone posting an image of the Porsche with the 8448-rims on it and they seem to fit very well. The looks might not be ultimate but I thought I could at least let you know. But maybe you were already aware of this. Anyway, good luck with the DB11!
  4. I often buy stuff in Germany, mostly furniture, a bicycle once. I never had to do with customs or extra costst when making use of this Huifkar-service apart from the pass-on-service fee itself. As long as it's within the EU, you don't get to deal with customs. When you buy stuff in China it's a different story of course.
  5. I honestly don't know. I hope the Porsche webshop has some boxes in stock, but it could of course also be the case that these orders are passed on to the Lego distribution services. Either way it will be substantially cheaper to order this set in Germany, for people living in The Netherlands that is.
  6. For those living in The Netherlands, if you want to use the Porsche webshop to buy the Porsche, you can use a Dutch service (Huifkar) to have it send to you in The Netherlands using a German address: http://www.huifkarverzendservice.nl/. I use this service a lot and just ordered the Porsche (I live in the Netherlands). I expect the costs for Huifkar to be 6 euro's only. Now I have to explain my wife

  9. And it unlocks a few images only. This has been posted several times already in this thread.
  10. Okay, cosmetic changes only, even better. With this MOD and the ones already posted the set is slowly evolving into something I want to have. Thanks again.
  11. The Danish are actually quite good at making high-end TV-series about fraude and corruption (Borgen, Follow the money, etc.). This might evolve into a very good episode of a new such series
  12. Very nice Max! Does this require more modifications to the gearbox to make it fit or does it fit without changes to the actual gearing (in terms of space)?
  13. I would also love to see a big steam locomotive with a realistic drive train. In real steam locomotives the drive mechanism also drives the selecter This mechnism is usually referred to as valve gear. There exist numerous valve gear mechanisms. The drive train normally also includes a forward-reverse selecter. I would love to see a Lego model resembling the entire drive train, not necessarily motorized. Preferably a model with 4 cylinders:
  14. That's a really cool video! I would love to have seen that car taking part in .
  15. To me this is the most disappointing part of the whole story. Actually TLG didn't even make excuses. They act as if this is part of the deal and label it as something 'open source'. If this set was 'open source', everybody should be able to pick up a free box at the corner of the street instead of having to pay 300 euros. They should have acknowledged making a mistake and do their best to rectify by sending out errata. I think there will be 7
  16. I would also love to see that. Also a car for which suspension actually made sense
  17. Found the source: It was said by someone on a Spintires discussion forum: http://steamcommunit...9681598199309/. Maybe not the most trustworthy source, but the guy seems to know what he is talking about. And like you said, it sounds probable.
  18. You know well too. About the flexibility of the big beams (bogies) which make the left and right A-arms in the rear a kind of pendular: I'm quite certain (as in 'I read somewhere on a forum') that the bogies are completely rigid - they can only pendulate - and the reason for that is the enormous load they should be able to carry. The suspension comes from the tyres only, which are enormous too. If I find my source I'll let you know. Here's another link to many 3D-renders of the Maz 537 but you probably found those already: http://bart300872.re...37/maz-537.html Good luck! I will follow this topic with great interest.
  19. Very interesting! I know a little about the Maz 537, especially about the suspension. As far as I know all axles are double wishbone with shocks in the front axles and rigid bogies (no shocks) in the rear. I'm very curious how you are going to realize this. The Maz 537 also has - besides the standard gearbox - portal gearboxes to reduce torque in most of the drive train. Are you going to incorporate these too?
  20. You're right, didn't realize that. I also found out that you can easily fine-tune the pin with pin-hole position from the bottom of the car.
  21. With the Porsche being released the panel-controverse becomes even more clear. In the Technic-theme there is a general tendency towards building models of real life machines and vehicles. The more they resemble the original, the louder we cheer. And panels play an important role in this development. Every time a new panel arrives, everybody gets excited. This has brought the Technic theme to an era where we are not only able to build technical counterparts of the original vehicle's mechanisms, but we can also cover them up with panels to make the looks resemble the original too. And this development has paved the road for a set like the 42056 Porsche; a very good looking model with few technical features. A model that covers almost all technical aspects with panels, even inside. In my opinion, a true Technic-theme model or set should have the right balance between technique and looks. The main mechanisms should be visible and the looks need only catch the essence of the original. And panels can of course be used for the latter, but should be carefully applied. But that's my opinion.
  22. going through my second LEGO wave

  23. @Blakbird, when looking at page 493 of the instructions (the marriage) it appears to me that at least the pin with pinhole that you discussed in your earlier post (there are more of these as I understand) can be replaced with a 3L axle-pin connector with center pin hole . Can you confirm?
  24. Of course, I was only trying to lay the puzzle with the pieces that come with the set. The pin joiner suites the bag maybe even better than the half bushes.
