  1. Nice buildings! You even thought about ceiling lamps – guess I'd break them off every time I'd take the house apart and put the upper parts on the table. :) And I like the way you used the architectural elements on the church.
  2. Of course. Aren't we all giving each other inspirations here? :)
  3. It's certainly a nice mod, and you got a nice solution for doors here. Doesn't really matter IMO that they're not like the real train as AussieJimbo mentioned – even though I did them this way in my mod. But I think it would look better if you'd add another red column between the double windows in the end units to get an even spacing throughout the entire train. (Or remove the red columns entirely and have a long continous window.)
  4. This black and white idea sounds really interesting, but I agree it could be "a bit" hard, especially in large scale. Bley may be a bit too bluish, and old dark grey too brownish/olive. But for a small model, it could work – coincidentally, last week I built one floor of a house in black and white: a private investigator's office, kinda film noir style; turned out quite well, I think. I'll show you once the rest of the house is completed...
  5. Really amazing landscape! (Gotta remember this when I get to building hills and cliffs for my city.) Looking forward to seeing it populated...
  6. Nice to see your town come along so well. But the streets are a bit empty, a bunch of cars and people would make it more lively. (Though I'm sure you got that planned already...)
  7. A glass cleaner/window cleaner usually works quite well for many stickers on glass or plastic, as far as I can tell – just spray it on, let it soak a bit, and wipe/rub everything off.
  8. Thanks for this great program, it helps me a lot planning my future layout! Might I make one feature suggestion/request: transparency settings for brick layers. This could help visualizing multi-level layouts, such as tracks in a tunnel shining through the semi-transparent baseplates/roads/etc. above.
  9. Interesting topic which I've been asking myself too, since I'm planning my big train/town layout that I can only start building some time next year when my new apartment is built; a long time for planning... My plans incluse a main rectangular track loop with two tracks, widening to 4 or 5 for a long passenger station on one long side; the other long side and one short side will be in a tunnel under the main town section. Not only will this save space, it makes the visible part also look more realistic: the section of a bigger city, tracks seemingly entering in one corner and exiting in the opposite. I'll focus mainly on passenger trains, the Maersk train and my container terminal will probably be the only cargo area, connected to the main loop at a corner. And as if (or since?) two levels aren't enough, there'll be a smaller lower section with a river/bay – a good place for a nice train bridge across the water. :) I don't plan a harbor, though; rather a beach, maybe a small boat rental, and a pirate ship as tourist attraction. All in all, I hope it will become a nice and well-balanced town/train/some coast setup, rather town-dominated (modular style) than train-dominated...
  10. Great realistic looking buildings!
  11. Great cars, great scene!
  12. Great work! Really reminds me of the van that delivers oh so much Lego to me...
  13. Well done! The front may be a bit uniform color-wise, but its structure is good, and the interior is nice and clean too.
  14. Indeed really amazing with lots of nice details! On the 3rd floor, how about combining storage for old stuff on one side and some kind of gym or dojo as L-space suggested on the other?
  15. Wow! I'm speechless, so I just agree with the others. ;)
  16. The text shortening isn't the problem, it still works fine, but the "." at the end of your sentence is included in the URL. :)
  17. The Pet Shop box is about 58x48x9 cm. IIRC the Maersk Train box (which I don't have anymore) was smaller. I might have made a review, by the way, if I had built it according to the instructions and not on a custom structure for my custom (and in this case sloped) streets... And I don't think it looks "tired and un-inspired" like thewatchman. It's just not that eyecatching big shiny jewel, but rather two little gems with their own special value...
  18. Now that's fast. Mine, ordered on 10th and shipped on 11th, arrived on Friday. Was that express shipping, or do you have some friends at DHL? Nice to see they use the cardboard with the instructions even when there are no sticker sheets like in this set. Not nice to see the mistake with the balcony flowers TheMagician mentioned...
  19. Wow, lots of great details! Though I have to admit that I'm a bit torn whether I like the front's color combination of tan and bright red or not...
  20. Interesting topic... Well, since I'm planning for when I'll have the space for my big layout, I've been thinking about some boat integration, too, but I don't think I'll build a cargo harbor, rather a bay/river mouth with a pirate ship (Queen Anne's Revenge) as tourist attraction, a little beach, some smaller boats, maybe the Creator lighthouse – I'm not planning to buy the marina set, though. And a nice train bridge across the river at the edge of the layout. So no real train&boat integration, though the station won't be far away so tourists arriving on the Emerald Night can easily reach the beach... No real water, though, even if AussieJimbo's idea is intriguing. :)
  21. Great building, especially with the barbershop's front, great interior
  22. Nice to see it grow and see the plans for such a big layout. Looking forward to seeing more and more of it being completed over time. Also because I'm in the planning stages of my future layout myself which will also be quite big – something like 19 by 8 to 10 baseplates, so it's good to see others who got the resources to "think big" themselves :) –, but my new apartment where I'll have the space for it won't be completed until early next year, which means a looong time to wait, but also time to plan – and change plans over and over again (even such basic things as: one rectangular setup in the middle of the room, or U-shaped along the walls?), getting inspirations from others' layouts. Though I'm rather going for a town-dominated setup, hiding half of the train loops under the town. Kinda more realistic that way, too. Alright, enough rambling about my plans here; I'll keep you updated in a thread of my own once I got something to update. :) And now I better start checking ebay for double crossings...
  23. All those detailed interiors you managed to put into this small space... really amazing!
  24. Great exterior, great interior!
  25. Then again, the ground floor reminds me of the Town House (Creator) from summer 2007, and Fachwerk is used on the Medieaval Market Village in 2009 (including turntable bases on the walls). So while I'd like to see a future Modular that evolved from this 3rd prototype, I wouldn't be too sure about it...
