Great! All those many nice details... I've been thinking to build one myself since it might be a nice addition to my city (once it grows a little more), but I don't think it would've got anywhere near the quality of yours... But I wouldn't park it in front of the Fire Brigade, blocking the exit isn't a good idea in case of a fire alarm. ;)

Really excellent! Combined with white, yellow still looks great. :) Especially when built like in your building, so I'm looking forward to more... Now you could add some nice interior at least on the ground floor to make it even better.

Nice work indeed – again! Actually that was the last launch for Discovery, but Endeavour and Atlantis are planned to launch once more in April and June. But, well, that just postpones the end of an era a little, so it's still sad...

Like the TGV, this one (ICE 3, I assume?) is really nice! I especially like the nose getting narrower. Though the partially recessed front window looks a bit odd – but that's always hard to build... Looking forward to photos from the interiors!

For my upcoming layout, I've recently been thinking about such things too... current plan is to have three tracks with close platforms (on the edge of the sleepers, between 2 and 3 bricks high) – i.e. station with platform, 2 tracks, island platform (with bridge), track – and then a fourth track with ground-level space instead of a platform for the Emerald Night. Kinda like making the directive: "modern trains must be narrow; vintage train fans and tourists must live with less comfortable entrances on such vintage rides". But that's not necessarily my final decision...

Seems their image server is currently down, I'm not seeing any images either. Well, just be patient and wait until they've solved it, servers sometimes need a break. :)

Ah, you're right, I forgot about those. Well, those are all limited/special editions (with a yellow edge on the box), so this would make sense indeed...

Interesting, thanks for the photos! I also can't imagine this to be released just one year after the last freight train – but who knows? But the number is odd. (And not just in a mathematic sense. ;) ) 3677 is no typical train set number, but right between 1980's Fabuland stuff, so even if this is a set prototype (that rail eiker86 mentioned is intriguing), I guess it's rather a placeholder number – just to have a number on the engine to see how it looks like. (Or to fool the visitors. :) )

Haven't tried them myself yet (though I'm sure I will in the not too distant future), but LifeLites got some LED lights that also include fire-like flickering effects.

In my youth, I never kept the boxes. When I started again to buy the first big sets a few years ago (Ferraris, for instance, and then the modular buildings), I originally kept them for a while, but ultimately decided I rather need the space than the boxes. And while they may be nice to look at, I actually never missed them... So all I keep are the instructions and extra stickers – and a few shipping boxes for storage (not necessarily for Lego).

Thanks everyone! Naylus, I'm curiously looking forward to your improvements of the 7897 ICE. I never liked its nose... so this certainly was no set to bring me out of my "dark ages". :)

Wow! Really amazing! You did a very good job capturing the looks and details of the original here.
-
And now you got to build a city between all the tracks. ;) Seriously, that's a really amazing setup! I just rebuilt my old 7740 and want to lay the old tracks once I got the space to do so (which won't be soon), but that will be, like, 10% of yours or less. But it did bring up nice memories of old...

Looks more like the blue building (or a mod thereof) from Mediaeval Marketplace – its tan building is just across the street, too.

More MOD than MOC: 7938.5 plus club car and freight wagon
cimddwc replied to Snapshot's topic in LEGO Train Tech
The freight wagon looks great – this two-level-baseplate combination works fine with this train design. The club car, though, yeah, looks a bit odd. Maybe, hmm, don't use the big roof parts and build some lower roof, and add windows to the front and back of the raised part? Remove that dark gray line, and use the same trans-black panels instead of the train windows in the bottom part? Just some ideas... As for the small windows: I'd use a 2-wide trans-black panel there, thus basically widening the regular windows to 6 studs. -

Eurobricks Collectable LEGO Minifigures Series 3 Building Contest
cimddwc replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah, there's always the dilemma: Participate early and risk that you get a better idea later or a competitor making your idea better, or participate late and risk someone else having the same idea, making you look like a copy-cat? Well, guess what, I chose the former with my first Eurobricks competition, so here's my entry: Minifig: Fisherman Theme: Town (or Harbor, if you will) Only got a little overhang with the (quarter-)tree and the other plants, and the backpack. I barely managed to keep the splashing water from overflowing. For those who'd like to see the vignette with the fisherman (i.e. a photo that's not part of the official contest entry, if you don't mind), see here... -
Eurobricks Collectable LEGO Minifigures Series 3 Building Contest

Got some initial idea for (part of) Category C, but a question: Is it allowed to use PARTS of official TLG stickers, or the excess stuff between or around the actual stickers on a sticker sheet? -
Exclusive Train 10219 Maersk Train (Exclusive 2011)
cimddwc replied to paul_delahaye's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Now how am I going to integrate this into my city? If I counted the studs correctly, as far as that's possible in a small photo, I'd say the engine is 36-38 studs long. So maybe they don't use regular train base plates, just some Technic plates where holes are needed? Can't imagine a new mold for this (unless there will be longer coaches in "normal" sets in the near future, that is). And I fear it's gonna be considerably more expensive than Emerald Night – EN had one engine, one tender, and one passenger car, this one one engine, two container cars, a truck, and the Maersk name...- 379 replies

Nice levers! And nice house, too. Gotta remember this when it's time to build my train station, though I'm not sure if I'll go for such a nice "historic" lever-operated design or some run-of-the-mill modern electronic signal box, or just assume everything's controlled from somewhere else...

Thanks everyone! And interesting to see different tastes about which building you like best. :)

Encouraged in another thread, I'm showing here the buildings I made in the past several months before I joined this forum – for those who didn't see them on MOCpages already. I didn't want to make a "flood" of new topics, so I include all of them in this topic; hope that's okay. :) Click an image or title to go to the corresponding MOCpages page with more photos and description. Fancy bookstore: (And there's actually a real house in my town that's so fancy, though with different elements...) Flower shop made only from parts from the big VW Beetle set (building only, except for windows, doors, and flowers, of course): Tower Museum, using designs from the Tower Bridge set: Double Grand Emporium: Modular Town House: A little narrow-gauge tram: (Yes, that'd better fit in the Train forum...) A little scene including a SNOT street with tram tracks (ending abrubptly; well, work in progress...: A pond and a playground: And here are my plans for the future.

Agreed, that's what Lego should offer – even though there's always BrickLink... Maaybe I should ask Lego for a commission payment, then? That's quite an interesting technique, thanks! Though I guess I'll stick with my design for now, maybe just making new, better folded bellows.
