slovakiasteph, I think you're using Technic bricks where you're supposed to use headlight bricks.

Indeed it's nice to see all these masterpieces together, with every single one already monumental on its own...
-
Indeed a great, big and detailed MOC!

Funny topic... I pick the 4559 train: Kinda strange, but you might find something interesting when taking a closer look.

Great! Just wondering what's the maximum number of dead redshirts on one ST episode – wasn't that 4, too?

Minifigures 6 finally arrived at local stores yesterday, so I randomly grabbed 4 bags yesterday, and what did I get? A genie and THREE aliens. Hrmpf. Guess I'll have to build a big ADU jail... Anyway, with the odds to get something more useful (to me) now increased, I got back today, got another 4, and happily got 4 different ones, and useful ones at that. :)

Thanks again. :) I had the sand green bricks (except for 2 or 3) still lying around from a second Green Grocer I had bought way back then, so I can't tell how much it costs to buy them now. Note, however, that the side walls are just gray to make it cheaper. :)

Great and creepy indeed!

Ooh, looks great, both in color (dark orange, I presume) and architecture! I'm just wondering if i'll place it as is stand-alone, mod it into 48-wide, or whatever... :) By the way, are that two croissants around the crest above the entrance?

Nice and enjoyable review indeed! Still wondering how many Friends sets I'll buy once they're available here (in March)... By the way, this nice printed umbrella was already released in the Sunblock game last year.

Well, I used "brick bending" for this road - the curved part consists of 1x2 bricks (and plates), and making use of the 0.2(?) mm gaps between them, you can bend the structure a little to make a curve like this. For tighter curves, you could alternate 1x3 bricks and 1x1 round bricks as can be seen on some castle towers, but this won't look that smooth, of course.

How much did you spend on Lego in 2011?
cimddwc replied to Legacy Man's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't really dare add it all up... -
Thanks, everyone! I happened to get the green grille bricks from the PaB wall last year (and I'm glad I now found a use for them :) ).

Bought something important: More transparent boxes for storage...

Nice arrangement with many lively scenes, such as the hydrant or the fountain fisherman. :)

V-LC-16C & V-LC-16D You've seen my crane modification of set 4206 – of which Redhead1982 just finished her review before Klaus-Dieter his – already in my Pet Shop Street, and since some of you asked for more details, here they are – along with another mod. While 4206 is a nice set, it doesn't make much sense to have a forklift follow the truck around everywhere, so I equipped my mod with a crane – a pretty standard crane design, actually, using two 3x2 plates with holes as base. The truck has the same length as the original; there are just no more gaps between the containers. Other side: A little box for trash or other stuff to fill the otherwise empty space behind shovel and broom. (In the middle, there's a 2x4x1 slope holding the crane base in place.) The crane's just long enough to reach and lift the last container. I removed the original 4x6 plates and added a tiled frame around the container holders to eliminate the forklift gap that would make the containers look like they'd easily fall off the truck when driving through a curve... The forklift driver is no longer needed here – and he's not exactly happy about that. He should have known, since this is the face print he came with...: But he quickly found a new job where he's highly welcome! After all, the 3677 guys had to handle the pallets by hand until now... Oops! Alright, on to the second mod: Front, crane and legs are mostly the same (different colors due to the parts that I had available), but the truck is 4 studs longer and has a 3-chamber tipper. So this is the truck that drives around to empty the containers, instead of swapping them for some empty ones (or placing new ones in the first place). The containers are to be imagined to have a hatch at the bottom to unload their contents, as indicated here with the old 4x4 hinge plate (which, however, isn't really a feasible playing solution since it attaches to the rest too strongly and can't hold the 2x4 plate at the bottom): The tipper's using an old 2x5 hinge plate. Here you can see the walls separating the chambers opening separately, so the truck can unload its different loads onto different heaps. » Flickr (no additional photos, just larger)

Turned out really great indeed! Imposing and detailed architecture, and nice interior details as well.

Great! And so realistic! I'm just wondering whether minifigures would make it look even better or not...

Thanks for the review! I had this set in my hands at the Lego store these days – and in no other shops (or the normal catalog, for that matter); there seem to be quite a few unmarked exclusive/limited sets this season –, but I also thought it's a bit too expensive, and the boat trailer's too wide to nicely fit typical roads anyway. Even wider than I imagined, actually, seeing your photos now... That being said, I don't necessarily think the Unimog is too big when seeing everything together and considering that it's supposed to be an off-road command center. :) It might have worked in a smaller version too, though.

Thanks again, everybody! :)

Really nice, including the details. Though the coffee machine might be a bit too small for all the cops. ;)

Thanks again! You can see some hints in the work-in-progress pictures at the end of the photo set: Straight road connected to the ground below with 2x2-2x2 brackets , the part between the tracks seperately. and Incline with brackets connected alternatingly to the sides, old hinges (like the black one on the right) on the curved top and bottom parts. The incline itself just rests loosely on a brick framework below. Yeah, but that has to wait until this block sits in its final place on its final table in my new apartment later this year. I'll make some in the next few days. I already have an idea for another mod, so I might get another set and make that, too...

Thank you very much, everyone! Well, it will be part of a bigger town I will build in the next few(?) years – I'll put the plans up for discussion soon (over in the Train Tech forum) –, but there probably won't be houses directly next to these. The road will continue, of course, along a mountain that will start on the left and around the corner and then across tracks that run behind these houses. At any rate, that's what the current plans say. But since I started this block, it moved around the layout a few times, especially having the brook flowing this way or the other... You see some of the hidden ugly stuff in older photos e.g. here or here and at the end of the current photo set, but since this block is finished for now, I built a nice presentable wall at the back. Seem to have forgotten to pick photos of it – I've added these now:

Interesting question, given that I just yesterday posted a MOC with 9 out of 30 (+5) photos here. :) Well, I think having just one or two photos here is too few (except for very small MOCs/vignettes), but having 30+ with possibly several similar ones, like Redhead1982 mentioned, might become a bit dull and you'd start scrolling down faster. So I think picking the best 5 to max. 15 would be a good compromise...

Layouts Finally I was able to completely complete my little row of houses around the Pet Shop set that has started with PC Shop, P.I., Artist, Bar, 8-bed Hotel and continued with Lawyers and Snack Bar – if there were no life outside of Lego, it would have been a liiiiiiittle bit sooner... » Full page on MOCpages with all images » Set on Flickr First a selection of the full block and street scenes photos: Notice that I modified the new recycling container truck (4206) a little – it's now got a crane which makes more sense than having a forklift following it around everywhere... Subway entrance: A closer look at the corner house: Now let's get inside (see MOCpages or flickr for all rooms) – travel agency at the corner: A shop for souvenirs (picture postcards outside) and odds and ends – puppets of astronauts and mummies seem to be selling well... And here's the interior of the betting office – the green copy of the Pet Shop – that was still empty last time: Whoops, the computer crashed and all the monitors are showing a bluescreen instead of live results and odds from sports events around the world – and the customers are quite irate. (The broken bottle is from BrickForge.) I don't think kicking a crashed computer will help anything, though... (Disclaimer: I'm not saying that's a typical behavior for bettors. But you can run into violent a**holes anywhere.) Alright, I think that's enough photos for the forum... » Full page on MOCpages with all images » Set on Flickr Comments and criticism welcome as always – and a happy new year to all of you!
