Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I think orc forge will definitely contain Saruman. In all of the LOTR preliminary images there are only generic bad guys, but no main ones. The nazgul are kind of main bad guys... but since it looks like the leader of the nine is not singled out in any set, I am going to say they are generic. Anyways where I am going with this is that LOTR is an epic tale just like star wars and needs a main bad guy included in the sets. The fact that there are also some of Sarumans orcs in these sets supports my suspicions.

Honestly I do not care how expensive they are as long as they are really good. Quality > quantity.

I also bought 30062 from target last week and it was only $1.75! Not sure why though...

Is no one else excited about the black great helm? It is a nifty little addition to the set. -

Maybe there is no pictorial review yet because everyone is too busy playing with it! After all, the set is pretty sick. I plan on picking up at least 1 and maybe even 4. Then I think 4 x 120 = 480... That is a lot of dough. I should at least wait for a sale or double VIP points or something... -
Interesting conflict here. If I had to guess I would say that kingdoms is only gone for a short while, but will be back within a year or two even though new LOTR sets will still be coming out.

Wow I hope those prices are not real. I was expecting slightly steeper prices than the kingdoms line as this is a licensed theme, but those seem too high. Since I am hoping the prices are wrong, then it figures I should hope all of that information is wrong. However, I do hope the piece counts are right. They are also higher than I expected, but that is great news! I am so curious about these sets now. The toy fairs seem so far away...

New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive

Looks like it does. I think the two would look good together since they have all the same pieces and colors. As amazing as this set is I don't even think I am gonna build it. I just want the pieces! -
I will not repeat was has already been mentioned, but I do like a lot of the ideas so far. Surprised that no one has mentioned a set with all the undead in it. Could include Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, and some ghostly knights in a cave. I would also like to see a set dense in vegetation. Could be an elf place, treebeard set, or random traveling in the forest set. I just want more greenery! A mog rider (or whatever they are called that attack people traveling to helms deep) set could be good. A snowy set of the fellowship trying to cross the mountain. Eagle versus dragon. Some nazgul being taken out by a wave of water horses when trying to cross the river.

Not personally. I bet Aragorn and Frodo will get new swords (at the very least old molds with new colors), but everyone else will get swords from molds LEGO already has in existence. I really want a new mace and helm for the witch king in the ROTK. That would knock my socks off.

I think LOTR impulse sets are a great idea. I would love a way to beef up my soon-to-be army as long as the impulses are generic warriors and not main characters. I do not think LEGO would put any main characters in such cheap sets anyways. On a similar note, battle packs might be even better than impulses because they are 100% mini figs and not 50% mini fig and 50% other stuff (as seen in the above pictures). Even if there is no way to beef up armies this theme still looks amazing. I heart LEGO.

Agreed! I built an old set I found in my closet (dark forest fortress) today and could not believe how much vegetation there was. I would like to see a LOTR set just as dense in greenery.

If you are not excited about these sets yet, this will help Link

I very much doubt Frodo will have a new outfit for this set. If you look closely you can see that Frodo is already wrapped in black webbing in the preliminary image. I am positive there will be new armors for this line, and I am almost positive there will be some new weapons as well. Does anyone know when the first toy fair is that will contain official images?
-
Seems to me like the difference between preliminary pictures and the final product are mostly in the mini figs. The sets themselves do not really change. Do not worry! I am sure we will get plenty of common soldiers, both human and elf, in future waves.

Castle does not need to change themes. Black falcons would be an awesome addition to the current kingdoms line. As for LEGO... perhaps they have been able to keep us in the dark about new kingdoms sets by distracting us with LOTR! Before the announcement, I would have been more surprised if kingdoms continued than if LOTR came out. Maybe the LOTR confirmation was all just an elaborate ploy to hide the real surprise next year - an awesome kingdoms line! At any rate, there has been so much epic news lately it is making me dizzy.
-
If there really is Kingdoms and LOTR next year LEGO will officially have taken all my money Since speculating is fun... I am just gonna guess we will get a dragon castle along with some smaller sets including both lions and falcons.

Kingdoms could be continued in 2012! Found this interesting little tid bit on CC forums - Link

LEGO cannot do only structures as they need a playability component to come with most of the sets (ie good vs bad). Otherwise the sets could be too boring for their target audience - kids. Only $300 for Rivendell or Minas Tirith?! I'd pay way more if the set was really good Anyways I am really excited for the toy fairs now!
-
I agree with you here. The sets look easier to integrate than I thought, and the weapons shown are probably just placeholders. I expect much better from LEGO in terms of new weapons and armor, and they rarely let me down
-
I agree that these sets look great overall, and a couple even surpassed my expectations (helms deep, moria, and army builder)
-
No Boromir?!

I agree that there is enough material for this license to continue just as long as SW. Not saying that it will, but it could if it wanted. As was mentioned earlier, LEGO can make several very different sets of the same thing (Hogwarts for instance). The set list sounds decent. Most of the guesses as to what the sets will include seem spot on to me, and we all know this line is going to bring some amazing new pieces. The two pieces I am hoping for the most are the lich kings mace and helm as seen in the third film. An army with that weaponry would look menacing to say the least.

I understand the hesitation many have about LOTR LEGO. Higher prices and an end (probably) to kingdoms are both big downers Guess I will be stocking up on the Joust set. However, if LEGO designs these sets right (I think they will since they know how much potential money is riding on this theme) it is a very exciting time. We can all agree the mini figs, weapons, and armor will be amazing, and I am just going to assume the theme will sell well. In a way this is like a SW version for castle! We will be getting multiple waves per year for a long time. That for me personally is very exciting as I hate waiting an entire year for new castle sets.
