LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion
K_Tiger replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I've been watching brickseek like a hawk, and all the Walmarts I usually hit have them in stock. The bad news is there haven't been any sold, so they're all in the back. The wait continues.- 1,421 replies

Haven't gone out and looked yet, but I imagine I'll run into the same issue. They're in the back, waiting for May 1st.- 1,421 replies

2 cases at a more local Wally, though it probably means they are in the back and not out on the floor.- 1,421 replies

One ~20 miles from me supposedly has two cases. Target's DCPI is unlikely to be changed. Run 204-00-1379 through brickseek and look for changes in inventory, might be a hint of new figures.- 1,421 replies

If you go to brickseek.com and do a Walmart SKU search for "170512751" in your area code, it should tell you if they are in-stock. None in my AOL, but I ran the number for zip codes with sightings so it is a good number.- 1,421 replies

They usually have a case on the shelf. I have seen the occasional hanging unit zip tied to the side of an end cap. The local Target usually has them on the end cap sides, but I have seen them on pegs at the checkouts. I have noticed that both Target and Walmart tend to have the end cap boxes somewhere other than the LEGO aisle.- 1,421 replies

Hit 2/4 local area Walmarts and nothing. Same for TrU and, despite BrickSeek saying otherwise, no dice at Target. Someone posting up an SKU from Walmart might help find them.- 1,421 replies

Thanks. Now I've got to think of what to arm him with. Might order one of the black cutlasses from the Silent Mary set.- 1,421 replies

Hmmm, more strong figures in this bracket. I'm leaning towards Shakespeare, but if the offers I get on SwapFig are any indication, Sleepyhead will win this one.- 2,045 replies

Yuppie. I really like the Lizard Suit Guy, and I'm a fan of the Cheerleader (even if replacing her pom-poms will cost me the same as 2.5 new minifigures), the Yuppie just hits me in my '80s feels. A E S T H E T I C. Ice Queen is a damn well executed minifigure, but something about it leaves me cold. No pun intended.- 2,045 replies

REVIEW: 71018 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17
K_Tiger replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Build-a-Figures are pretty common affairs these days. When case packs are pretty even, I suppose they're alright. Short-packing or producing an exceedingly popular figure will have the wheels coming off. It's not a technique I see working for CMFs, but I do think a "mystery super rare" figure, akin to the ones in the Mega Bloks Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle blind bags, are a possibility. -

Rocket Boy isn't even the best suited figure in this bracket, so he's out. I own an Ariel, but she's nothing special. Karate Master, eh, same goes for Die Mannschaft figure. That leaves Highlander and the Shark Suit. Gotta chew on this one.- 2,045 replies

Heh, I should have one of those fellas in today's mail. I just think they're too limited and plain to overcome all but the weakest of regular CMFs.- 2,045 replies

Likely, but not necessarily. It could be a case of TLBM minifigures that they've yet to put out for whatever reason. Stories abound of people asking for the case in the back, and instead of it being the new series it's an old one.- 1,421 replies

Anytime this month is fair game. I was in Target and they didn't have any CMFs of any stripe out, but they had some in the back. Not gonna bother looking there again until sightings start filtering in.- 1,421 replies

REVIEW: 71018 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17
K_Tiger replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Series 18 is rumored to have a costume theme (similar to S.14, but without the focus on Halloween), so while it's not a licensed series, it won't be as diverse as S.17. -

I'd really like to see them do more folk dress figures, like Lederhosen Man and Pretzel Girl. Connoisseur is in that same vein, even if it is more of a representation of the stereotypical "Hon Hon Hon" Frenchman. -

You just reminded me that I actually have one of those. I keep the minifigs in the display case "pure", but if I were to get another that would definitely be a viable option.
