  1. I love the hanging piece - does that part weigh a lot? Structurally, I'm curious how much stress is on that main joint location! Very cool creation!
  2. TRU BOGO 50%... Grabbed 5771 Hillside House and 3818 Bikini Bottom Undersea Party
  3. I want these simply for the really fun color palettes! The figs are a bit odd, but obviously aimed in a different direction than a standard minifig. Still cool sets that I'm sure the fiance can get behind!
  4. Fantastic details on the house! I like that it's busy but not cluttered. I like the hatch crosses you did on the left house (in the picture). Very cool! One thing I want to point out is how rich the color palette is on this. That dark green base really does a lot to the ambiance of this MOC - awesome job!
  5. That's one damn expensive Taxi Cab! ;)
  6. I picked up 3834 SpongeBob Good Neighbors at Bikini Bottom off Bricklink since it's gone everywhere else. I really really really need to get more minifigs. I have NONE of the series ones, and very few in general from sets. What's the best (most efficient and economical) way to expand my minifig collection?
  7. Not sure how I feel about this...
  8. My favorite so far - really dig this one!
  9. This is a really fun MOC - great work. I really dig how much is going on in here!
  10. I wish I could find eBay deals anymore. Price gouging runs rampant from what I see... And Bricklink is a great deal, too. I JUST learned the nuances of it, and once you do, you can literally fill your cart in minutes with exactly the bricks you need (and a bunch you don't, haha).
  11. Holy cow this is amazing! The sewer is just gorgeous, and the street is incredible! These multilayer MOCs NEVER cease to amaze me. Wonderful work!
  12. Thank you. Thank you so much.
  13. Wow, thanks for the help (and the SUPER informative posts). That color chart is also superb, and should make it a lot easier for me to reference pieces. Here's a question about BL then...If I want to search for just 1 x 2 Dark Bluish Gray Bricks, how do I do that? I've tried searching 1 x 2 Brick, and I get a whole slew of modified/technic options as well.
  14. So I'm trying to figure something out, and I'm actually going a bit crazy. I've been looking at buying a bunch of 1x2 dark gray bricks on Bricklink. I have an MOC idea, but I don't have many of said brick. So I hop on Bricklink and find that these things (in bulk) run SUPER expensive (~$0.23/piece USD). I decided I'd do a little research as to why. Apparently, this piece appears in some of the more collectible sets (old and new Death Star, Eiffel Tower, Cafe Corner, etc), and thus drive the price up. So I decided to do some digging and found that a set like the old Death Star (10143-1) uses a lot of 1x and 2x plates in Peeron DkStone and MdStone. I tried to go and figure out what color this was (maybe dark and light gray, or dark and light bluish gray?), but I was having some trouble. On top of that, I found out that on a given Bricklink page, both versions of gray are listed. So now I'm even MORE confused. Here's what I guess I'm trying to iron out: If I want to buy a bulk order of dark and light gray for MOC'ing, which gray should I focus on? The standard gray or the bluish gray? What's the deal with these pieces? And on Bricklink and Peeron, what exactly ARE DkStone and MdStone? Is there an available color reference chart between these two sites? I have a few bricks from sets that I like the color of, so if I wanted to use two said sites to order more of that brick, cross referencing colors (particularly the grays) may prove a challenge for me. Like I mentioned in the description, I'm totally vanilla on Bricklink and Peeron. I have ordered a few things from Bricklink, but mostly just a few hard to find sets/pieces I couldn't find elsewhere. Any protips and help on these, and also help on my questions above? Thanks!
  15. I saw this on Notch's Facebook feed. His original ideas were pretty meh, but those were done by SuperMacho (the "nicer" ones). I, for one, don't know how I feel about this. Really, you could make a Minecraft set with a whole bunch of 1x1 bricks. That's really all Minecraft is - a bunch of 1x1 blocks put together to make something bigger...Which is pretty much LEGO. The MOCs are awesome, but an official set wouldn't be very exciting in comparison I don't think.
  16. Got a pretty good deal on Farnsworth House and Bradenburg Gate. I needed to add to my Falling Water display in my office!
  17. Ooooh...Habitat 67 is all kinds of sexy. *votes* E: Just to add to my comment, I would really love to see how it would be pulled off. Looking at it, it COULD be as simple as plates cantilevered out with brick elements for the pods, but I would HOPE the designer would take a more creative approach given his options!
  18. I want to go grab this for those gold pieces! Gotta head up to the LEGO store. Thanks!
  19. Woooooah holy wow. This is seriously awesome. LOVE it.
  20. I probably should have from the get go. ;) Not sure if I'm able to at my status, but if so, oversight!!! Also, I sort of had a slight change of heart after I was finishing up the VW Van. I went back and put on the wall decal stickers, and it added SO much life to the model. On top of that, the stickered pieces actually feel like they'll play wonderfully with modular MOCs. With a lack of printed pieces, the stickers add life and detail to a room that you otherwise cannot add.
  21. Just my observation, but after browsing that site a bit, it seems like there are a LOT of "reprint this" or "reissue that". That sort of defeats the purpose of the site, doesn't it? LEGO could reprint/reissue if they wanted. The demand is pretty clear given the prices online (and I can't imagine they don't notice the price some of the older sets fetch), so it's pretty clear they have other reasons for not reprinting/reissuing. But again, that site seems like it could be a cool idea if there weren't so many requests for reprints.
  22. Wonderful review! It makes me sad that I wasn't able to pick either set up. I'm guessing there's no way to obtain these outside of eBay anymore?
  23. I finally decided to go for it and bought Tower Bridge 10214. VERY excited for Wednesday. :) It was on sale on Amazon, no shipping (free 2-day <3 Amazon Prime), and no tax. I will have a wonderful wonderful weekend ahead of me! Oh, and I like to put my pieces together in the box all at once (the thrill of the hunt I guess!), but I remember reading a thread about someone's review of the set saying that there were like, 4 pieces to pull out early on or you'd go crazy assembling. Any idea what thread this was?
  24. Yeah, it looks like an awesome parts pack, for sure. But again, it's the theme that I'm concerned about. As awesome as the Death Star is, for $400, it's hard. Is there a lot of unique pieces that aren't available in any other sets?
