So a friend just bought me a $20 LEGO Gift Card for giving him my DotA 2 Beta Key. Pretty awesome! I bought the Fire Brigade about a week ago, but I'm gearing up for another new purchase in the next week or two. It'll be between Medieval Market Village, Grand Emporium, or the Mini Modulars. MMV and GE are (obviously) closest to going OOP, but I'm completely unaware of the time frame on them. The Minis SHOULD be around for a while, no? Thoughts!

My entire LEGO collection, at this point, has come from sets. Now that I'm about done sorting, I'm starting to see what kind of pieces and parts I'm lacking - enter Bricklink. ;) I still buy sets for a few reasons, though. - They're fun to assemble and learn from - They provide a thematic set of pieces (useful for certain MOC gathering adventures) - When my fiance and I decide to have kids, it'll be a great starting point to introduce them to LEGO That last point makes me smile, haha. My kids are going to have the most insane LEGO collection thanks to dad.

I see these sets, and I really want to jump on all of them. It's too bad there's so many other sets I want right now...These sets look great, the new colors are awesome, and all the little extras are just super! I'll keep my eye on these - thanks for the informative review!

In theory, yes! I think it just depends on the size of the bags vs the size of the finished models.

Yearly Calender for Lego Events

Anyone in the Indianapolis area may be interested in the Greenfield Brick Expo at the Hancock County 4-H fairgrounds Jan 14th and 15th. Little late notice maybe, but still worth checking out if you have the chance! -
REVIEW: 853340 Minifigure Wedding Favour Set
nicoga3000 replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is a cute little set - my fiance will appreciate it, too (getting married this December!). I just ordered one thanks to this review! -
So you obviously don't have a container for EVERY piece, then. I'm guessing you blocked a few together under the general headings that LDD gives?
-
Hey - I'm curious about your sorting! LDD only shows 26 categories, so how did you use LDD to help? I'm REALLY needing to start sorting and disassembling soon, and I like the idea of using LDD as a base.

Wow...just...wow! Really really creative and wonderfully executed.

Ok, this MOC is simply fantastic! I can't wait to see more unique uses of the Friends line, haha.

So I went to the LEGO store and used my 10% off any item + $20 VIP credit and grabbed 10197 Fire Brigade. It was between that and the Mini Modular set, but I decided that Fire Brigade would go OOP sooner than any of the other sets I was considering. Good purchase at $122 after tax!
-
Oh? Well then! Tonight after work = small road trip! If the Mini's aren't available, my question still stands. Also, I have two of the free pick-a-brick boxes which I hope to fill with plant pieces and trans stuff.
-
I'm going to add to the stack! I have $20 in VIP credit to use, along with a 10% off any one item in store. I want to buy a set that gets me a nice heap of MOC treats, but I also want a nice set to assemble and display for a few weeks. I was obviously leaning towards modulars (since they offer great pieces for building style MOC's), so I was going to look between Fire Brigade, Pet Shop, and Grand Emp. I don't think the mini-modulars is available yet (but I'll be buying that the day it is!), so between those three, is there a clear, "Buy this now"? Also, is there a BETTER option in terms of investing for a larger set that has high MOC content?

I did it! I made my final Bricklink purchases and rounded up all the pieces for the dragon! It was expensive (probably about the same price parted out as it would have been to just buy one), but it was a really solid learning experience on Bricklink! Now the wait begins! Shipment from Norway will probably take some time, and that one has 120 of the 142 Green 2x2 Corners. -_-
-
I've put in four Bricklink orders in the past two days to try and get all the parts ironed out for: One final order and I should be done. Holy lord...It's getting expensive (mainly the stupid 2x2 green corner blocks). I've actually opted to swap out the 2x8 bricks for twice the number of 2x4 bricks. A few little tweaks here and there, but I think it's about done! I'm SO excited to get all the orders in and display this adorable guy.

Hahahaha this MOC is simply incredible!

Sure thing. And yeah, my local Target did not have any. The Target by my fiancé had at least $50 laying around on a shelf. She didn't quite understand why I would buy more than one, so I made it easy on her and only grabbed the three, haha. We may be going there again today in which case I may grab another few!
-
Target is selling the Harry Potter special potion set (30111) as a holiday set for $1.19 right now. I bought 3. :)
-
So the sales right now? Ridiculous. 8078 Portal of Atlantis 7326 Rise of the Sphinx 7189 Mill Village Raid 7182 Knig's Carriage Ambush 7572 Quest Against Time Retailers are marking down 30%+ to clear for the new sets around me. Awesome haul today!

The Friends line is a unique venture for me. On one hand, I want to grab a lot of these sets if for my future daughter and for the really fun color palette that's VERY unique to these sets. On another hand, I'm at a loss as to why TLG feels the need to release sets aimed specifically at girls with minifigs that change the core picture of Lego [to me]. <After typing this, I realize that this is really the only problem I have here - I can see where they're coming from with releasing more girl themed sets. The Barbie/G.I. Joe comparison sort of flipped a switch for me. My issue is with the minifigs.> Will the theme sell well? I'm sure it will. I'm sure it WILL grab little girls' attention the same way Barbie and other toys with pink puke packaging. From a marketing standpoint, I think it WILL work. While I do feel a bit odd about TLG releasing a set themed towards young girls' interest, I'm in no way offended by it. The parallel that comes to mind is G.I. Joe and Barbie. It's clear that (in most cases), they are aimed at their respective sex. With Lego, though, in general, there isn't an overall feeling of masculinity or femininity to their lines. The Disney Cars line has a certain male glow to it with the new black and red flashy packaging. As I typed that, I thought about some of the other Lego packaging. Many of the logos and theme defining pictures are sharp and flashy with a more masculine color palette (blacks, blues, silvers, darker hues, etc), whereas the new Friends line is a bit more floaty in the logo design and lighthearted in color selection (pinks, purples, baby blues, etc). Who knows - maybe I'm reading into a bit too much, but it's only now that I THINK about it that I get a certain vibe from the overall display. Deep down, I want this to do well - I want Lego to reach the larger audience they are pushing for. I think the only real thing that bothers me is the fact that TLG felt the need to create a specific minifig that is more feminine. I really do not care for the new design - it doesn't look like it belongs in the Lego world, and that's a problem for me.

Wow, wonderful haul! I'm curious about this set in particular...Are those white textured pieces hard to find? I've only seen them in that Atlantis set. I may try and find a good discount on one for all the nifty white pieces.

Already got 3818 Bikini Bottom Undersea Party. I'll be going to the Lego store tomorrow to grab 3817 The Flying Dutchman!
-
I'm not a big LOTR fan, but I can only imagine how beautiful these sets will be. I'll be picking a few of these up for sure!

Went to Meijer and found a great deal on: 6918 Blacksmith Attack 7066 Earth Defense HQ The Alien Conquest set wasn't originally something I wanted, but at ~30% off retail, I went for it. Some neat pieces for MOC's! Same with Blacksmith Attack - it was discounted and contains a nice handful of fun and useful pieces!

You know, if I were to think to myself, "I'm going to create a piece that shows a group of adventurers running across a geode cavern on the side of a cliff," I can promise it wouldn't have come out ANYTHING like this. You've done an incredible job capturing the whole feeling of mystery and amazement. Great work! Also, my favorite part of the entire piece is the use of the ship cockpit covers for the large geodes. Genius!
