Opinions on the 2004 4+ Pirate Lego Theme
The Middleman replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Kids and parents might prefer a more <insert that tiresome argument> theme, but my guess is, if there WASN'T one, they would buy a normal-style set anyway. I see plenty of toddlers at TRU buying TIE Fighters and Fire Stations and KK2 sets. Apparently, they can handle it. And if the AFOLs/TFOLs are clamoring for it so strongly, and it won't harm the 'junior' market (much, if any - still, any loss would be heavily outweighed by the AFOL/TFOL gain), then why not give it to us? -
Which Lego set had the most pieces?

ISD is first at the moment, but when the DS2 comes out this fall, that'll top it. -
I got tired of my ARC-170 resting on the counter and/or a glass, so I made a landing platform for it. I got a bit carried away, though - pics tonight. ;)

Latest Lego Design Competition

I might buy a few of those little things. And Phes, speaking of age, how old're you? -
Phes - right you are! Still, I wouldn't consider a lot of those tank tops high-class wear. Athos - damn vignettes! :P

No Clone Turbo Tank or Wookiee Catamaran? Oh well! Glad you enjoy the ARC - I do - but I do think that the X-Wing (new one) is a better-built starship. The wing mechanism is much smoother there, and the construction is much more airtight. However, the ARC is a magnificent build - one thing I do think they left out that would've been easy is landing gear, though.

Yeah its great isn't it? But sometimes I just like to post a whole new message. In the immortal words of the Vikings: "Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam! Spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam. Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Spam spam spam spam!" Click here to listen!

Three guesses as to my vote. ;) EDIT: Phes - there's an edit button, see? Right there.

Oh, for the rags thing, I was talking about LEGO pirates. ;)
-
First; I'm just saying that when we talk about them as cultures, we should, by default, be talking about Caribbean pirates and Scandinavian Vikings, as they are the main cultural groups of each one. I then added that pirates and vikings are basically the same thing, anyway. And my my, aren't we defensive about the sets! The final products were displayed at the Nuremburg Toy Fair, which I've seen pictures from. The missiles are comprised of 3-long gray axels with red technic ball-joints on the end, and rest in a technic circular hole, so they won't get stuck. And yeah, it's an inaccurate LEGO thing. 'Playability' and all that jazz. Yes, I have seen close-ups. http://festum.de/1000steine/album/album385...e_062.sized.jpg Check it out. Not one of those has any impairment, except perhaps extremely-angry face syndrome, and no impairment is prevalent in any other picture (and there are many) either. As far as life expectancy goes, you'll notice that scurvy was not a huge problem amongst Vikings. ;) Vikings never really died out, either - or at least, Northumbrians didn't. They just settled down in the lands they had conquered and their homelands. As for the injuries, I was just pointing out the overabundance of eerily similar wounds on LEGO pirates. Don't take it too seriously. ;) And the armor - they may not have needed armor, but they didn't have to wear rags, either. :P Besides, Vikings weren't really about speed and agility - brute force sufficed. Most of the time, it was sea to land assaults, with very few sea battles, so there was no need. However, for land battles, armor is pretty much requisite - much larger forces (as usually they were facing a small army of some sort).

GREAT, lets have a MOC battle ;) V()()D()() let show us your similar one ;) I'd guess it's disassembled by now. ;)

After Catwoman... well, I don't think anybody's in a rush to do sexy-cat-villainess for a while.
-
If Fantastic Four does well, that might be kind of neat, but Raimi does well enough on his own.
-
I know :-D It was to discuss it. Here's the new game What will be the villain!!!!!!!!!! I hope its not the Vulture or the Sandman. I vote for Dr Doom ;) On aintitcoolnews.com they have a rumor that it's going to be Man-Wolf AND Venom! I hope that's true! And Dr. Doom is showing up in The Fantastic Four this summer, so they've got that covered.

Plus the one I bought before. I now I have a squad of 4! I'm making a diorama to display them and the ARC. :-D
-
I love the tan/black one! Nice work!

Sounds awesome. I can't wait! :-D

*shakes bag with 3 Clone Scout Walkers in it* :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I think posting an event would be ok, as it's open to anyone from any site. It's not like you're saying 'JOIN OUR SITE, LEAVE THIS PLACE!'. Still, probably safer to do it your way. ;) Now we just need someone to post it (I can't register, I have a free e-mail address - god forbid!).
-
I'll probably end up coming home with 3 or 4 more Clone Scout Walkers. They're just so adorable! :-D Hope I can find a Clone Turbo Tank or a Wookiee Catamaran, though.

But are we positive the 'juniors' enjoy this line? Wouldn't they enjoy a good pirate ship and normal figures as much as the rest of us? -
You should post this on FBTB - you never know - and LUGNET too!
-
I'm going Wal-Mart hunting again today with a fresh $100 bill in my pocket - wish me luck! :-D

I loved that one too! "Camelot!" "Camelot!" "Camelot!" "It's only a model." "Shhh!" Monty Python owns every other comedy out there. Anyone seen The Flying Circus?
