  1. A real shame to hear. I really hoped for a new kind of theme that was compatible with the Modulars series... I also asked Lego about the new fairground sets, no reply yet... :/
  2. So there's no chance that it also won't be 10254?
  3. Maybe, the rumours started on the first of april, but the confusing part is that the Disney figures are already confirmed. Brickset has also adopted the rumor in their database. Still there will be 4 expert creator sets in 2016: 10251 Expert Confidential 1 - Brick Bank 10252 Confidential Expert 2 - Volkwagen Beetle (?) 10253 Confidential Expert 3 - Big Ben 10254 Confidential Expert 4 - Christmas set? So there still might be a small chance it will be either 10252 or 10254, but the chances keeps getting slimmer...
  4. Maybe its me, but alot of people of my generation played Rollercoaster Tycoon, an old pc game which was about making a fairground park It's kinda like Lego 10196, the Grand Carousel, which is only a 6 years old and already around 3k Euro for a NIB, is there a reason it got so expensive and wanted?
  5. It looks great! I really enjoy the overall difference in landscape height. I'm curious, are you from the Netherlands or Germany? You won't see bicycle lanes very often on roads in other places on the globe :P Also, how do you support the weight of the houses? Is there some kind of structure you used ?
  6. Thanks for the tip, found it! http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=198705301&postcount=5127 Now the hardest choice, to be or not to be collecting the fun fair sets... What do you guys think? Will it become as popular and wanted as the Modular series?
  7. I love your work, its quite admirable that you recreated all those objects from the movie. Keep on the good work! :)
  8. Could you tell some more about the place where you read that? Would love to see it :D
  9. I have to agree with your logic, after 10244 the fairground mixer and 10247 the ferris wheel it would be unlogical if there won't be a new set this year. The theme is a perfect fit for both younger Lego fair fans as older AFOLS. It matches perfectly with the Modular theme, both scales are based on the minifigures. The possibilities would be endless, just take a peek on this site http://l-rides.com/ were a real professional Lego builder makes funfair rides ;)
  10. Your work is absolutely a piece of art, its rare beauty to widness! As an old-car lover I got some suggestions you will hopefully consider the following modells: The Talbot Lago T23 Deardrop Horch 1939 (the trunk looks also epic) Other that can be beautifully lego-lized are: the Duesenberg II Speedster, 1934 Duesenberg and the 1937 Foose custom Studebaker convertible Please let me know what you think, and brick on!
  11. I agree, you can't judge the average price by the amount of pieces, even when its the most easy way to judge the overall price of the sets. One of the main trends of Lego is the shift of design. The 90's were designed easier. Less bricks, more bigger pieces, it was more like a plastic modell than the Lego we know nowadays... Lego made way less profit and it didn't do well. People like the AFOL community asked for more bricks so more things than only a box picture can be created, so more diversity and chance for creativity. From that day (dramatic voice ) the sets got more pieces, which generally replaced the bigger pieces. Isn't it a good idea to look at the weight of the totall amount of bricks instead the pieces?
  12. I still find it quite shocking for that price that they still include stickers, multiple outside details have been made that way... :c I'm sorry you're completely right! Indeed only the PC has stickers, still I think the other Modulars (most likely the newest ones with more details) have more printed bricks. I think that has a certain influence in the price..
  13. I honostly never got the pieces per set madness, it would be a way more accurate method to compare the weight of the pieces instead of the amount... There was once a guy with a signature comparing 100 1x1 flat tiles against 100 2x1 normal bricks, the totall actual amount said enough. Anyway, I can only speak regarding the Modular serie, since I'm the John Snow about the newest Lego sets First of all, the costs of the Modulars really depend on the country, like in Germany the last three Modulars were all 150 Euros, while for instance the last Modular in the Netherlands (BB) costs a whopping 170 Euros... It can also depend besides that shocking difference on the fact that the newest Modulars have NO stickers at all. The community asked for that multiple times and their wish got answered. Also in the last three buildings there was more energy stuffed into the details and interior, meaning more differerent Lego parts which are only used once. Results in a more expensive set, the production costs will be higher. So its basically a combination of the country price (which can be +20 Euros of other countries price) and the more demanding sets, regarding no stickers and more individual bricks.

    Cars - Nemo57

Those cars are looking damn smooth! Some years ago I quited Lego's, the main reason was the unrealistic sizes of the cars... Sometimes they're twice the size of a minifigure! I like especially the low profile roadsters, very inspirational to try the same thing
  15. I'm currently planning to buy the Lego Modulars 10243 and 10246, but it's hard to find a fair price these days... Does somebody know a good addres that ships for free to the Netherlands? I'm seeking for a place where I can buy them both for 300 Euro's or less.

    10251 Brick Bank

That's quite shocking, that there isn't some kind of Danish Lego discount or something... xD Maybe you can buy it via Amazon or another German toy shop website, Modulars are usually 130-150 Euro's there

    10251 Brick Bank

In the Netherlands its standard around 10-20% more expensive than other countries like Germany. Lucky enough there are plenty of Dutch webshops and also Belgium/German webshops which don't charge shipping costs with more fair prices. The situation here is that in the every (small) village there is atleast one toy shop. Those many shops have to be funded somehow together with the employees. Since the Dutch shops are mainly owned by one cartel (Blokker) you can softly say that Lego made some kind of price fixing with the mayor Dutch shops. (or that Blokker did so, since they own the main supply chain) There's no real competition between shop brands so the market is pretty stable. One of the main sources to support this, is the fact that Dutch Lego catalogs don't have any kind of pricing in it. (While for instance German catalogs do have them) The weird thing is, nearly every Lego set price is the same in all those different toy shops.... The weird price fixing in the Netherlands has also became a point of discussion when the 'Consumentenbond' (Eng: Consumers Association) discovered that many toy shops simply cheat with their prices. (For instance it's very common that the suggested retail price is being abused to trick people into thinking that a set is discounted.) Dutch readers can read some more about it here: https://forum.www.ra...pic.php?t=15839 (the last post is very interesting!) http://www.budgetgam...d=15&start=1388 (assumptions by some forum people about the monopoly position of Blokker) http://www.consument...ngen-speelgoed/ (first research done about the toy market with the questionable pricing) http://www.consument...epaanbiedingen/ (second research, with some nearly shocking details)
  18. If anyone wants to reply to my questions please go here, the more different opinions the merrier! I appreciate your view on the last sets, I was curious how others would see the newest part of the street! It's interesting to know why the first three sets are so expensive to obtain. (it explains those whopping CC and MS prices ) Although I hope when I will sell the whole serie one day that there will be potential buyers.. Thanks for the reply! I completely agree with the fact that every set has its own little disadvantage. The way the modulars become a street is indeed like you describe because of the wonderfull shared timeset of architecture and design. The beauty is in the part that every single building has its own 'orbit', like a splendid movie that's part of an epic trilogy (although such examples are rare ) The cookies, laundried money and such are just an acceptable detail that makes it a true Modular. So I agree, in a few years it will be just another classic. Very good point! Some years ago I only had the GG and the GE when I had the idea to make an investment in Lego. Since the stock market are hard to figure out and risky I wanted to have something more 'solid', and I realised (mostly big) Lego sets are worth the money. Although more people started to invest it was still a relatively good and safe option. After some research I wanted to choose between the new upcoming Batman Tumblr or the Architecture serie. Since I didn't like Batman that much (also black Legos are dust magnets ) and the architecture sets were a bit plain (when I saw a collectors pic there was roughly 80% sand bricks used in the already released onces) and sometimes hard to get I realized it was a dead end. Some time (and a christmas catalog ) later I decided to pick the Modular serie instead. The high prices together with the fact that its an part of a serie makes it very interesting for both a normal Lego fan as Modular collector.
  19. I shared the forum's enthusiasm of the last days when finally the newest Modular House was announced with pictures, details and everything! As a young collector I already obtained 6 Modulars. I started with the Green Grocer in 2008 and I got every set of the following years towards the Palace Cinema of 2013. The main reason for me personally to collect the Modulars is their beauty (They're gorgeous display modells! ) as well as the value, its also a future investment. Due to new upcoming sets and retiring ones I would like to talk about the last three modulars from the years 2014-2016, as seen bellow. I got a few questions to my fellow Lego (Modular) Collectors and I would highly appreciate your opinion about this matter: 1. Will the newest Modular sets fit in with the older ones? (Meaning design, not technically ) 2. Do you think the last three Modulars are worth buying? 3. Are the last sets from the Modular series still worth buying as investment? 4. How expensive would you estimate my current modular serie? (so the complete sets from 2008-2013, once build for display including all instruction booklets and well preserved boxes)
