Great work, cim. Nice practical solution for access around your layout. The hacked up flex track is an an interesting way to achieve the track join. I like the sloped street too. :classic:

Nice update,VT. Your initial setup, whilst not as common, is sometimes used to aid loading and unloading and is referred to as Spanish platforms (or the Spanish solution according to wikipedia). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_solution I also like the 4 track version Heppeng posted which leaves the centre pair open for express trains. 12 volt points(switches) help with that layout, there's a bit of faffing about required to get that track spacing with new track. :classic:

Great work, jamesn. Iconic London building. Deserves a place in the Architechture line. I stayed several days in Batersea in June and got a good view of the power station from the bus each day. Hopefully the new development will help preserve this landmark for many years to come. http://www.batterseapowerstation.co.uk/ :classic:

I've been through several stages of the list. I used to know every set I had and where the all missing pieces were used in MOCs but those days are long gone. At the moment my collection is distributed across dozens of sistema containers (http://sistemaplasti...-it-rectangular) with some sorted (mostly bricklink orders). The rest is "sorted" by the set/s the pieces originally came from. This works well for a while because you can look up the required part on bricklink, see if you've got the set and then rummage in the right box for the pieces you need. This is still kind of working but I'm reaching the point where I'd benefit from doing some systematic sorting. :classic:

Building the Emerald Night via Bricklink?
AussieJimbo replied to timmyc1983's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Since we're all posting our EN variations... Works grey: http://www.eurobrick...anoramas.com.au Reddish brown: http://www.eurobrick...anoramas.com.au With recent releases, standard blue (2012) and green (2013) have become potential loco livery options too. :classic: -
I agree whole heartedly. I've tried to laugh along with a joke that was moderately funny but have been saddened by the discomfort that it is clearly causing for some users. The leaders of this site really need to consider the long term damage they may be causing to this community. :classic:

Great job, Lok. I like the way you built the drive train in the loco. :classic: -

You've done a great job with your tram, melbs. Looks great zipping around your town. Coincidentally, this thread has popped up the day after I finished building a red version of my tram to go with the original blue one so I'll just go ahead and update this one when I've got some photos done. EE, I use switches and crossovers set up the same way for up and down main lines (but to avoid crashes not create them 8-) ). :classic:

Fantastic work, Tupolev. You've done a great job with the low profile turntable and the round house is magnificent. :classic:

To clarify, the RC Trains use infra-red not radio signals; the RC is short for Remote Control. They have 3 channels to choose from and the controller can be set to control channel 1, 2 or 3 or all channels at once. The horn is a cool. The train base is a little cumbersome but the use of AA batteries added weight for traction and have higher capacity than AAAs. On the other hand the motors are less efficient as mentioned above. My first Lego trains were RC and I still enjoy running them. :classic:

I got lucky and picked up a few of them from TRU and Bricks to the world before they became scarce. I should add that this 6 car consist struggles a little because the EN is quite heavy and all the valve gear adds friction. Even when I remove it, I still get quite a bit of wheel spin from the pusher coach. :classic:

I build a couple of extras (1 powered pusher coach, 1 standard) in dark red and white, similar to British Rail 1948 crimson and cream livery. There are no dark-red 1x1 bricks with handle so I had to use reddish brown ones but they fit in OK. Sorry I don't have a better pic than this, I haven't posted this MOD on it's own. I built a turntable last year and it's really useful and fun to have one, No more running around loops or wyes to change direction. Mine is 5 plates high so there is quite a lead in required; there are two level straight's before the turntable, then 1/2 plate grade for two straight and then a 1 plate grade beyond that. The turntable is three straights long and can hold the Emerald Night which is the longest of my engines. More details here: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=55176 :classic:

MOC: 4-Wide Tiny Train - Wooden Railway Compatible
AussieJimbo replied to zephyr1934's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hey zephyr, you've done a great job with your wooden railway train. I really like your cute little 2-4-0. I also tried the ball joint couplings but found that they cause derailing on S curves (change of direction from curve to opposite curve). They need to be double articulted to cope with this situation. You can address this by building the bogies with the 3x2 plate with hole part... ... and then joining the cars with 2L tecnic 1/2 bars and pins... + .... or use pin with ball and small rubber bands like I've done with my small scale train. + Thanks for the compliment, I'm glad you like it. Cheers Brickster for indexing too. :classic: -
Great work, HenrikLego. Beautiful station and I'm also very impressed with the curved platform. :classic:
