A nice set which I do want to get when it appears on S@H UK, but I have one problem with it. Why is half of the chassis bright red? I think it detracts from the overall appearance...

This should be interesting. Who's developing this game? The same guys that did LEGO Star Wars? I'm hoping this turns out to be "Sims" like. I like the idea of choosing a minifig as your character and being given apartment space, which you can then decorate with LEGO bricks. You could create your own furniture, TV, bed, etc. Even divide up your apartment space into seperate rooms with LEGO bricks. You could even be given a car base to build upon which would become your ride! Of course, this is just how I hope it turns out. :-)

I've never enjoyed 40k but I'm a long time collector and player of Epic, it's little brother. :-) For those who don't know, Epic is based in the same universe, but the miniatures are a lot smaller, allowing for larger battles.

Having arrived yesterday and built it yesterday afternoon, I have a couple of notes. Firstly, I think this set is awesome. I love the near perfect ratio of brick-building and large pieces. What I mean is that while there are quite a few large pieces, there are also plenty of other bricks. I really like the way the car wash and the forecourt roof are built, but I feel there could be a little more to the shop. There are a couple of gripes I have with the set. Firstly, I think the rubber band keeping the car wash spinners together should be a little larger or more elastic. It's very difficult to push a car from front to back through it. Also, I feel the glass roof over the forecourt could be a little better designed. As they are they are at a slight slope which looks a little weird. Also, the handles at the front are a little weird. I assume they are for the manager to turn the gas flow on and off, but shouldnt they be under lock and key out of sight? The car is very nice but I think it looks a little weird having the back higher than the front. On mine I've removed the 1x2x2 piece making it higher and now it looks slightly better imo. In short: I still this this set is excellent, with a couple of flaws. Overall I think it's one of my favourite builds yet behind Cafe Corner.

25% off all LEGO at woolworths UK
Mr Hobbles replied to Brainbox's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Instore (In Dundee) they really don't have much choice. They have maybe a couple of the smaller City sets (I think last time I looked they had the Fire Helicopter, Fire Boat, the really small Fire Car, and the really small Digger) and the rest of the stuff is Bionicle. Maybe I should look online and see if they have a greater choice of sets. Cheers for the headsup! -
Well, despite looking like that for two out of the three exams, and completely being scared out of my mind for the fourth, I think I did ok. I need to make that little MOC. Just one more year of uni and I think having that ontop of my monitor for the next year will remind me not to be so useless and actually study! Cheers again!

lol I've seen that episode before. I couldn't keep thinking of LEGO the whole way through it! (Althought that was probably intentional)

My all time favourite is The West Wing. It's a show about the everyday antics of The White House and it's staff. It's fascinating, engaging, thrilling, and the cast is flawless. Martin Sheen plays the President and he is my favourite actor ever. *y* It finished a few years back after seven seasons (A President can only serve 8 years after all!) Second is The Sopranos. It follows the life of Tony Soprano, a mob/mafia boss from New Jersey. He has to juggle his real family and his "other" family (The people he works with) at the same, while also evading the feds. Again, engaging, thrilling, must see drama. :-) Currently in it's last season, season 6. My current favourite is Heroes. It's about a group of ordinary people who start discovering they have supernatural powers, such as the ability to fly, stop time, heal themselves, etc. However it's on the eve of a massive disaster that is about to destroy New York City, and they have to stop it. Season 2 will be starting soon. X-D Can't wait!

February 21 Lego News Release
Mr Hobbles replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oi! As a student, I resemble that remark! :-P Actually we have very little cash, yet we still manage to spend it on alcohol. *wacko* That, plus a LEGO obsession, puts a big dent in the bank account. -
My choice ended up between Blackie and the Renault. It was tough... I loved Blackie because I felt it really did impose itself as a monster truck. I love the huge engine at the front and the exhausts on the side, and the black works really well. I also really liked the different headlights, and the way the position of the windshield. However the Renault really impressed me. When you compare it with the little thumbnails of the real thing you can see the little details that have been captured, such as the intakes on the side and the chrome rollguard. Using the two different color mudguards really captures the feel of the real thing. And I especially love the wingmirrors. :-)

February 21 Lego News Release
Mr Hobbles replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think it's a bit of a double edged sword. One one hand, you have the AFOL's who are spending large amounts of money on LEGO several times a year. Big orders such as Cafe Corner, new city sets, trains etc. certainly help LEGO to make money. On the other hand, I'd imagine a lot of LEGO's custom comes from the parent who buys their child the ocasional small set, and a larger set for a birthday, christmas, etc. While these purchases are few and far between, there are a lot more small children out there than there are AFOL's! I believe both contribute to LEGO's success. Bringing out newly designed lines such as City, Castle, Mars Mission etc benefits both the AFOL and the child. To the child, they don't care how it builds as long as it looks cool once it's built. But for the AFOL's, they want sets that contain a nice selection of pieces (Smaller, rather than larger "<insert that tiresome argument>" pieces). Of course they want a set that looks good, but it's more about the build experience than playing with the end result. Both the new themes and the classic lines are excellent and appeal to both, which is where I think their success comes in. If City is anything is anything to go buy, the new sets look far better than the old 5-piece cars I've seen from 1999. Talk about <insert that tiresome argument>. The new City has a better build experience for both the AFOL's and the child, and provides more value for money for both. -
I dont think the roofs are "meant" to open, I think it's just the part they used. I think they were going for a transparent glass roof look and the easiest way to do that is with those pieces, which means they can be opened.

Another nice set, LEGO is really surprising me this year! I was slightly annoyed, this set popped up on S@H UK the same day my order for the garbage truck and service station shipped! I was considering phoning them up and asking them to add this to the order but it had already shipped. :-( I'm gonna pop up to TRU sometime and see if they have this one. Cheers for the review!

Nice idea, I think it would be successful among kids and adults alike. However I think it would be successful in Britain and nowhere else. It hasn't really taken off outside the isles. Ahh well, I really like the idea of a Tardis set anyway. :-)

It's true, bley is much more appealing to me than old grey. Old grey almost seems green in color...I can't explain it.

Zodiac. Came out very disappointed. It's not a bad movie, infact the cinematography, music and acting was excellent. But it was the story that let it down. Very slow moving with constant jumping between times and places. Not to mention the end is very unsatisfying. It's like the conclusion was rushed. I know it's "based" on a real story, but it shouldn't have been made into a movie if it was going to come out this dull. Just when you think something good is going to happen, it goes and gets dull again. It's like the movie just ends, and then the next twenty years are summed up with three screens of text to read.

I'm undecided. I had hoped that LEGO would have modified the scale a bit to make it more minifig scale. However I think it'll look plain wrong right next to anything minifig scale. On the other hand, for those micro-scale builders, this looks fantastic. I do like the charm of microscale, but I much prefer minifig scale. Also it looks a bit "blocky". They should have used weird techniques such as hinges, etc in order to make this set imo. But they've built it studs up all the way and there are unsightly sticky out bits imo. Im just glad that now I can save my money for Market Street. Might make a good parts set however... Cheers for the pics yoda! :-) *y*

What is the output from a real Lego 9V powerpack?
Mr Hobbles replied to JINZONINGEN73's topic in LEGO Town
I used one myself until I got a proper LEGO one. It works under both 6v, 9v and 12v. 6v is really slow though. There isn't much difference on 12v, but I wouldn't run it as it could burn out the motor. -
SW Clone Wars tv series first pic revealed.....
Mr Hobbles replied to Vader's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Lil' update, it's confirmed that there will be NO MORE Star Wars movies, not even for TV. Never ever. The projects they have in development are the animated CG series (Which is well in development and will probably come out next year) and the live action TV series (Due for 2009-2010). A very nice set! I recently had my first flying lesson in a Cessna 172, this is giving me inspiration to build a LEGO model of it! Cheers!

*shakes fist at LEGO* Damn you LEGO, damn you! I hope you're doing the honorable thing and calling back every 30 seconds. "Is it there yet? Is it there yet? Is it there yet...?", etc. :-P -
Go away. PLEASE. Why is she famous again?
