Very nice, what is the clicking noise when the arm goes fully extended , is this much power making gears slip? -

Best AA batteries
davidmull replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lithiums are great I'm using them now, there cheaper on eBay too, http://cgi.ebay.com/10-NEW-4-Packs-Energizer-Ultimate-Lithium-AA-Batteries-/250749202889?pt=US_Batteries&hash=item3a61d131c9#ht_500wt_922 -
It is annoying tho,I might disassemble the arm and rebuild again,iv tried swapping around joints but it's still the same,my joints are right beside each other all the time and sometimes it's smooth but if I reverse movement then of dipper arm or bucket both joints seem to meet each other and start clicking ;(

Power surge
davidmull replied to rien's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
u really need to let go of pneumatics ha, la,s are the new way forward , pneumatics are only useful on very limited models unless they redesign the whole set up as there just to fast when activated and not consistent at all.I like both.anyway back to topic. -
I'm still having this problem where my 2 bottom u- joints are hitting each other 50% of the time ,it happens even worse if I use the bucket and centre dipper arm at the same time they click like he'll till I stop one of the movements,iv checked everything over a few times and it's still the same, the 2 bottom shafts also seem to have play in them ,it's very frustrating at this stage as u have to operate it a certain way to stop this noise , anyone shed any light on this ?

davidmull replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Just bought a set of Energizer lithium batteries AA ,works very well now and more amps so more torque, lasts 4-5 times longer as well, more expensive but cheaper in the long run, Cost was more expensive at €12.99 for 6 batteries.8043 is flying it now :) -
8043 vs 8258
davidmull replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I agree and I also love my 8043 ,I bought both a few weeks back but still have to built the crane truck yet,I think 8043 looks very well on the rear of 8258 like riens.I'm also considering buying a second 8043 for the b model,I'm glad I bought the truck now because there now all sold out of shops in Ireland lately and I got one of the last on the shelf! -

Is it not true that energizer lithium e2 batteries are the best all round, they look good in the graph above too, wonder would they be good in 8043? -

8043 Excavator Mods
davidmull replied to Buffalo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It only moves a small bit while driving maybe 3mm to one side but then stops so it's prob as u said just down to slack in the worm gear,I'm not too worried about it ,I'm very happy with the model ,the centre la is a bit slow out near full extension but that's all,I might oil all the gears now with virgin olive oil, might modify it at some stage but I'm happy at the moment. -

Iv just finished my excavator and I have to say I love it , new la,s seem to work well as it's not that slow, only small thing I notice is when I'm rotating the cab/digger my tracks seem to move very slightly some time too, anyone see this problem, also if I drive in a straight line the cab moves slightly as well, anyone notice this as it's very slight? -
