Came in to say that I like this AC. IMO, the HP AC is much better than Star Wars one. We get 7 minifigures + Slughorn's head vs 5 minifigures for SW. Not everyone gotten all the minifigures already. As long as HP gets an advent calendar every year, I'm happy!

In video game industry, every publisher wants to let people see how many sales they have, to entice others to buy. For Lego, its real competitors are Lepin and all the bootleg brands. Showing sales numbers will just let them target which set to copy.

Hi all, it’s been years since my last post. But have been following this thread since page 90+. I just found a seller in Singapore posted these animal molds on an app call Carousell. I’ve asked him where he got the Hedwig with open wings but no reply so far. Can we have a more quantitative method of discussion by having everyone vote the top 3 sets they wish to see in future waves. This way it may 'help' provide information to TLG as on which sets to make.

Just bought 2 Black Gates and 1 Pirate ship. Black gates look nice on display and more impressive than Uruk-Hai Army's wall. And supposedly gives the Orcs some home base/castle. Maybe that's why TLG release Black gate this year. Pirate ship looks quite bare. I'm thinking to buy a few more and beef up the ships. Can't get enough of the deads. The only problem with buying multiples is ending up with too many unique figures. Gimli I planned to have him as a generic dwarf for my dwarf army. For Legolas, change his head to become generic elven archers. Aragorn old torso can be used for civilians. Aragorn's new torso be used for Gondor army, but it look to regal for generic soldiers. Can't think of anything for multiples of White Gandalf and Mouth.

Black Gate is the Uruk-Hai Army equivalent this wave. I'm going to buy 2-4 more to build a long enough wall.

Since Castle 2013 sets were being reviewed last year, we already saw how ugly it looks as compared to Kingdoms sets. After these reviews, they still look ugly. But this castle does have more pieces than 7946, and the towers are taller and bigger. That means, more pieces, but poorer design. And yes, I would buy this on big discounts for the pieces. I really dislike the heraldry of both factions. ~ From another disgruntled Kingdoms fan. PS: I hope they rotate in Kingdoms sets again in 2015 or 2016

I would think 79009 is reserved for the $13 set.

If the retailers' catalogue can leak 2014 Simpsons sets, then it should reveal 2013 Hobbit sets. We need a ninja/spy. I'm getting impatient.

I bought 2 of this set while a friend was in the US. And so far I have built 2 towers and 1 wall, for my son to play against Helm's Deep. While I appreciate that the bad guys finally have their own 'castle', I do think the price for this set is too high and generic orcs too little. It doesn't feel value for money when compared to 2x 9471. My score for this set: Unique minifigs (white Gandalf, Gondor Aragorn and Mouth): 4.5 [out of 5] Generic minifigs: 2.0 - lousy fig, lousy accessories! Price: 2.5 - should be USD50 or lower Parts: 3.0 - many small parts; the spikes are not very applicable for other themes Playability: 2.5 - when trying to lift up the set to play, the towers and the walls came off many times Display: 4.0 - Looks quite impressive when put on the shelf; but I think a bigger orcs 'castle' would be nice Overall: 18.5 out of 30.0 I hope this set would drop below USD50, so that I could buy a few more, for the Gondor uniform, eagle and some generic orcs. 2 each of Gandalf and Mouth is a lot already.

LotR wave one actually has two army builder sets: 9471 Uruk-Hai Army and 9476 Orc Forge. Here in Singapore, I know someone who collected 50 and 60 copies respectively. Even myself I have 19 and 8 copies. Still a long way to 1000 Uruk-Hai though (need 250 copies). Yes, definitely we need an army builder in wave two!

I love these new sets. Pirate ship with 3 undead and possible Corsair. Black gate, expandable by buying 2 sets (mirror build) and comes with Eagles! Rivendell with Arwen and Elrond. Wizard Battle comes with Saruman, the secondary evil of LotR.

This new Castle theme is for kids. As someone mentioned, yellow boxes, kiddish colors (primary & secondary colors as opposed to LotR & Hobbit). I consider sets design crap, but may still buy the a castle or two for my son.

I must say TLG did a good job at us guessing them. Not even a leaked picture/news of Minas Tirith or Gondorians (other than the game)? I love this suspension!

Bag End is a MOC set and is begging us all to mod it. Too bad mine came and I absolutely have no time to build it.

Finally a review for this set. I have been waiting for one. As someone said on the Hobbit 2012 thread, only The Unexpected Gathering aka Bag End is a sturdy set, the rest including this are made up of multiple loose structures (although this is better). And per someone else suggestion, I would get 2 or 3 of this set and make it into a Tavern. The color and pieces are suitable.

I noticed you swapped the hood/hairpiece. The wood elves body doesn't look nice with the CMF hair. The CMF body look nice with the hood though. Alas, I dun have so many of both elves as you do.. They should march into the Helm Deep battle with the armor and stay in the woods with their elven clothes. So depending on the usage of the elves, you need different clothes.

I, too, think they should continue Monster Fighter theme. I think it is selling well in Singapore considering many AFOLs who collect the all the sets. The problem now with Lego is that too many themes are selling too well (like Friends, Ninjago, SW, etc), making other themes look relatively weaker and thus shutting them down after a year. Pharaoh Quest, Alien Conquest had only 1 wave each, but they were weaker than MF. Atlantis had two waves (if I'm correct), and IMO also weaker than MF. But seeing how thinks are going, MF seems to be destined for EOL.
