May 2018: Star Wars Epic Re-creation Contest
Junior Shark replied to MKJoshA's topic in Watto's Junkyard
I have the feeling this will be the best Star Wars contest in a while. I can’t wait to build a entry and see the others.- 36 replies

PREACH. I’m fine with LEGO making poor decisions with the regular Star Wars line (I think we are all used to it by now), but the fact that they really let the Rebels line slip just kills me. Poor vehicle choices, lack of consistency, shoehorned minifigures, and hiked up prices left us with a line that didn’t quite appeal to children or adults. There were exceptions, such as the AT-DP and the A-Wing/TIE sets, but overall the line gave me mild nausea. And don’t even get me started on the missed opportunity to land more McQuarrie sets. The Star Wars Resistance line has a chance to get TV sets back to a good place (i.e. like the Clone Wars sets), but we’ll see. And I really like this MOC. The white striping and sleek front are executed marvelously. Stay at it.

[REVIEW] 75207 - Imperial Patrol Battle Pack
Junior Shark replied to makoy's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I like this battlepack a lot. I am definitely buying multiple copies of this set, mostly for the minifigures. I don’t care too much for the builds in BPs, but that this one is movie-accurate and more-or-less to scale is applaudable. Its a shame the Imperial print 1x1 is white instead of LBG. Lessens the usefulness IMO. -
Millennium Falcon 7965 – turrets with transparent windows
Junior Shark replied to Staley's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This is the best bet. It can be a tricky part to use though. You’ll have to lock it in through shady connections or sacrifice the view of a mini figure to use its sole stud connection.- 4 replies

[MOC / MOD] Imperial Assault Carrier
Junior Shark replied to LucasLaughing's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Same. I really like this mod- I wish more people did them. There’s just a magic to them that’s different than MOCs. The thing I like the most is your NPU with the fender over the cockpit- it would have never occurred to me to use that piece. Clever on your part. -
What was the last movie you watched?
Junior Shark replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Yeah. I felt betrayed/empty/crushed at the end (are we under a spoilers ban?) but ‘twas for a moment. I like that a movie can hurt me like that but keep my love. -
I’m hyped. Hopefully we’ll get some cameos from Rebels characters, and more importantly cool LEGO sets. It’ll be sad to see the 3D animation go, hopefully the shift to 2D doesn’t make it childish drivel. But overall, I’m optimistic.

I liked the Last Jedi, but certainly not in the way I was expecting to. If anything it taught me to be a little more critical in my expectations for Star Wars movies, which has made me a bit cynical about Solo. I still have average hopes for it though.

What was the last movie you watched?
Junior Shark replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I don’t think so- were there any specific parts where it seemed too loud to you? And the last movie I watched was Infinity War in theaters. Thoughts? I liked it. A lot. -
Dang. I really like the use of the sword pieces as an armored skirt- that’s some NPU. The contrast from all the pieces that make up the torso give it a really unique look- the bricks, skull spider and wings impart a really cool visual language.

It’s all good- I think I get the general idea of how it’s supposed to work. Do you have a rubber band in there to help the function?

[Galidor Category B] Dreejal Vin
Junior Shark replied to The Secret Walrus's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Is it normal that this gives me a hankering to binge watch Galidor? I think that speaks more of your MOCing ability than the quality of Galidor as a show, so congrats. There are no crazy unorthodox building techniques here, but there are some things that are much more commendable: a consistency in style, tasteful usage of a variety of building techniques, and visual interest. -
Ahch-To Island Training. It’s a handsome little set with a lot of value.
-
That’s hawt. Imma build one of those for my shelf. As noted by others, the R2 is one of my favorite parts of the build! The engines seem a bit small, but I don’t see a way to make them bigger without taking them out of scale, so it’s fine. Overall I applaud how you were able to fit so much detail in such a small model.

Super cool. It could pass as an early Rahi set (the box art helps). Do you have a video of the function?

Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors
Junior Shark replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Thanks for posting those reviews. The Range Trooper is an easy snag for me (parts pack). I wasn’t planning on Darth Maul, but seeing that function in action might change my mind.... -
What do you mean by “small leaflets?” Do you have an example?

Found the Freemaker sets at Target.

Just realized that UtD's golden horns are the mutated forms of the MoCo's bighorn sheep horns. Awesome. Mad props to the set designer.
