Usually I am not a big fan of mixing the bley/grey, but it looks fantastic on this MOC. You did a good job of mixing the two evenly, so that one color doesn't jump out too much. It really gives it a sense that the structure has been standing for ages. The front of the gate is my very favorite part, the mixing of the cheese slopes, modified plates and jumper plates gives it so much detail without being overpowering. While I agree that I think the ground in the back needs a little decoration, it is a very easily fixed. The only thing that sorta bothered me was the one printed tile on the front of the wood tower. To me it stands out a little too much, maybe adding one or two dark brown tiles would break it up more. Great work on it!

Great remake! I really like the way you made the tree by using two different colors for both the trunk and leaves. All your details and foliage is top notch as usual

Great use of the micro-figs, they work really well on adding a pop of color on the front side. It is a great entry gate for dwarfs. I love watching the way the wall keeps expanding, can't wait to see more.

Great work on the maps NiceMarmot, now we have finally found a good reason to sit through boring meetings at work I finally have a day off work, so I am spending it with the bricks today. Gotta finish up the 5th guild mini-challenge, a MOC with no name and start in on the university too. Can't wait! -

Sounds like the perfect balance between the two! -

I'll commit to starting with the medical sciences room. I also have some ideas for the geography, law, alchemy and some courtyards/common rooms, but I'm going concentrate on the medical first and see what is left after I am finished with that. -

I vote that we should keep this for just Kaliphlin, at least in the beginning. I was thinking the same thing DaMaximus was, I think as a Guild we should get first dibs, and then maybe invite international guests down the road once we get established. -

Did anyone see the Hogwarts community build over in the Licensed themes? I was thinking of something like that, where we concentrate more on the different classrooms and areas instead of doing a whole building. I think we would be able to make more builds that way since they could be on a smaller scale, but I am up for anything. Another idea would be to split the classrooms across different buildings, each with a slightly different color scheme to stay looking unified. That way everyone can participate with the bricks they have and if they don't have enough of one color, the builds would still look unified based on what building you decide on. I have a great idea for a Medical Sciences room if you want to add that one to the list. We should also think about adding common rooms to the list too, like courtyards, dormitories, libraries, bathrooms ect. -
I saw this on Flickr last night and probably spent a good 45 minutes staring at all the details and colors. It is one of those builds that you just look at in awe. Absolutely amazing job on it, it is instantly recognizable as Rivendell.

Ohhh, I remember those ideas! The university is still my favorite too, there are so many possibles to do with that one and it is totally different from what the other guilds are doing. It would help with our free build count too. -
Wow, excellent work on the walls on this one. It is my favorite part of the whole thing, I think I just spent ten minutes looking at the way you used so many different decoration techniques. I also love that the first picture has such a muted color palette, but then the houses bring a pop of color to the back with the blue and sand green. You can instantly tell that this is in Mitgardia, great work on it!

I always enjoy looking at your landscaping, I like how you are able to take simple pieces and make a variety of different plants. The roof and the interior are my favorites on this, the little details and touches you put all over the place really bring everything together. Can't wait to see the fortress/castle you previewed earlier!

Its a shame time ran out for challenge four- I can't wait to still see what you come up with for a free build! I love the clean lines and colors on this. There are just enough little details that your eye is kept busy no matter what side you look at. I hope we get a chance to see what is stirring in the caverns below!

Thanks for the suggestion on the flags for the neck, I am going to have to see if I have any black ones and try them out. I originally tried to use some of the curved slopes, but they either made the head too heavy or interfered with the neck rotation too much. Flags are much lighter, so that might be the perfect solution. Thanks again for all the comments everyone! Glad you enjoyed it!

The elemental is really well done, I like how it seems he is picking up rocks from the landscape until he has enough for a whole body. The first shot is really great and does give the sense of all the rocks levitating. The house roof is absolutely gorgeous, even if it is decaying. I also really like the small tree made out of the dino tails- it is so simple but works so well. The micro is a little hard to make out with where it was placed, it may have been better slightly over to the left between the elemental and the house. There is a perfect spot in the first photo that it would have been seen a little more. Really great job overall

I really like how the white and red knights really pop out against the dark tan of the sand. Great color combination
-
You've done a great job with the figure posing, I really like the guy jumping off the roof towards the elemental. You really captured some great action here. Keep it up!
-
That is one spooky looking elemental- great job on it!

Great introduction! I love that you put the story in diary form with photos. Can't wait to hear some more of your adventures when you get settled in. Kaliphlin has a lot of land to get lost in
-
I really love your elemental's face- it is the first thing I noticed, the green vines worked incredibly well to frame out the eyes. You really created a sense of panic and fear with the way everything was staged, really great job on that! I can't believe you did all of this in just one day, very impressive!

Splendid work, I think this one has to be my favorite of all your builds so far. I like all the little details you added in, and the tree in the front is lovely. You have totally convinced me that I need some of those white tree pieces, no matter what the price is! If I had to guess I would say it is at least 1.16 meters high, which is mind boggling to me.

I love your creature- although I don't find him frightening- I think he is adorable. I think he would get along great with the monster I made for challenge three! I like all the details you managed on the towers, and the details around the base. I think with the size requirements, you did a really great job with the micro- the villagers going up the back it great. That creature picked the wrong place to attack, I don't think his ice is going to be enough to beat these dwarfs! Great Job!

You learn something new everyday- I didn't know there were flying islands in the Mystic Isles. Now I'm going to have to go find a way to take an adventure there! I like the whole idea behind the islands and the tornado- I think you pulled it off really well. The micro scale is great too, I like the fact that it is below, very cool
-
Wow, I really like the shape of the base, it really makes the MOC stand out. The volcanic ash is fantastic- I wouldn't have thought the chains would have worked so well. Wonderful job! In Photoshop I would suggest the Gaussian blur filter- it will give you the nice painterly look like the volcano in the first photo.

I love the fifth shot of the villager and horse, it is framed perfect and really gives a sense of terror and fear. Great job! I agree with you, the spiraling fire is a pain, no matter how careful I was the smallest movement knocked it down and I gave up on it. I'm glad you had the patience to pull it off - it looks great here!
