Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
The_Fiery_Rooster replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
As I expected. If the 'movie prop' can't even fit all of tony in the torso, then why should the lego set? Also, given the legs on the set are completely static (from what I see). it might even be possible to place the lower legs in the upper legs like in the image you show there with a different design, but instead we get a misshapen torso for the sake of doing something the 'real thing' can't do either. -

This has me curious... with the actual size and proportions of the actual hulkbuster as seen in the film, can Iron Man actually fit inside? It might just be 'movie magic' (copious CGI) that makes it seem so, but it might not even be physically possible with the film design for a feasible model with correct proportions to be built that still fits the figure inside. -

Thought this final set would be a vehicle for Namor :( But beyond that, I do actually kind of like it. The build looks larger than I thought it would be for less than 600 parts, and I do like the amount of deck space the ship has. The drones resembling the dragon flyers is rather clever, and the fact that they both fit on the ship is good. However, like others have noted, the lack of an interior is disappointing, as well as including namor as the only villain. The figure selection otherwise is good though, getting M’Baku is the definite highlight. As for the price, I’m not sure. Those comparing this to the goat boat aren’t accounting for the total volume of this build, which, even if it’s empty, still accounts for something. Even then, I think I’d have to see it in person to get a good feel for the true value of the build. Overall, I’m not as negative about it as the rest of you guys, and I might even consider getting it myself. -

Given that action figures of the 3 spidermen release in august of next year, it seems that's the time in which Marvel is letting toy companies release spoiler products for NWH, so there's still a chance. I have no clue why they felt the need to leave so much time in-between, especially since promo for the re release is covered in 'spoiler' stuff, but that seems to be the timeline of things. Now, I also have to admit that spoiler marvel sets aren't that common, but if we base our expectations on the Infinity Saga wave after endgame, then mid to late 2023 sounds about right for when such a thing would release. I feel like it just has to happen eventually, especially with the infinity saga and revisiting old movies now being a thing. I guess it's all just a matter of time.... Has that ever been the case though? We've seen plenty of schedule shifting in terms of these films over the past 2 years, and the only hiccups have been Shang-Chi sets releasing early and the Eternals sets being included in that catalogue. I also think you're underestimating how far in advance sets are designed, it would not surprise me at all if by the time the change happened the set was already done. With all of this in mind, I don't see why a January or February release isn't possible. -

On top of that, 75256 is reportedly only $30, which doesn't seem big enough to include all 3 heroes alongside Kang and MODOK, so it seems someone is getting the short end of the stick... -

Good point, the IW hulkbuster and Thanos do share a few scenes together. That would honestly be the only thing that would convince me to get the set. -

I find it funny that the Morbius set seems like it'll be a mech set. It's 2 memes rolled into 1! But it is interesting that Lego seems to be doubling down on the mechs next year, so I guess they've been pretty succesful. I'm not super happy with the $5 increase, but hopefully, since 2 of the 3 characters are usually big figs, the mechs actually have more mass to them than usual. In that sense, Rocket is the odd one out, but if the mech is Groot, like some of you guys mentioned, then that would work out. The Ghost rider set also seems cool to me, since the title implies it's a bike for the mech (finally a bike that isn't oversized for the rider!) which really opens the door for more interesting mech sets in the future, rather than just more mechs and 2 packs. This would be a perfect scenario for that set! Otherwise, a $50 hulkbuster doesn't interest me much. The $100 quinjet is in a similar situation for me, I still have the 2019 one built, and I'm not sure how this one could be much better, so I'll probably pass. The only other set I'm interested in is the hypothetical antman 3 set, mostly to get MODOK in a cheaper set as well as (hopefully) kang. Not a bad wave overall, but I'm honestly most excited for the mechs this time around. -
Unpopular Opinions about LEGO

Topical hot take, I don't really mind the new instruction booklet covers. Sure, they look less appealing than the box art does, but I do see a point in making them consistent across all themes. Also, making the cover an image of the set with a plain background makes it easier to tell what it is you're building exactly. Besides, they are instructions, it's not like I'm going to display them or anything. I've heard people say it's "lazy", but if anything it's more work than before, since each cover includes a new render of the set rather than just the box art again. Speaking of the renders, I've heard people say they're "low quality", but it looks fine, just with plain lighting, which is understandable given the intention of giving a clear look at what the set is. As long as the D2C and ideas instructions remain at the same quality they are, I don't mind the rest of these changing, and I really don't get the fuss. I agree and disagree. I like the black boxes when it comes to large display items, like the globe or the Mario 64 question mark block. It makes sense to put the focus on the build itself as an appealing display piece. But for sets with minifigs, it sucks. Minifigs give the set life, but the black background takes it away. This also applies for any set that is a 'part' of something, like the modular buildings, since the black background removes the context of the set. Imagine the daily bugle having an NYC skyline behind it, or the sonic set having green hill zone in the background, it would make those sets feel alive! Instead, they both look kind of dead, which is absolutely not the intention of the set itself. -

I'm guessing you mean the catalog leaks? In terms of those, I think we've got what we've got for this year. If you mean official images, I can't find any proof we had watermark-less images of seabound sets before may 1st (I checked Instagram news accounts to make sure). The only reason I bring all this up is to put our expectations into check. That way, we can spare ourselves unnecessary stress waiting for something before we should. -

I'm now sure what you're remembering, but that wasn't really the case for either of those years. Looking back at Brickset's news archive, in both 2020 and 2021, Ninjago summer set images came out between the last few days of april and the first few in May. Last year, Harry Potter sets were revealed in mid April, so a whole 2 weeks beforehand, while in 2020, they came one day after ninjago. Besides, I think the early Harry Potter reveal this year is meant to coincide with the release of the third Fantastic Beasts movie, so I don't think it says much about when we'll see the rest of the summer sets. The crystal king has 3 forms across the sets, as far as we know. In the temple and the golden dragon, he is a four armed minifig much like Garmadon and the legacy Overlord in the past. In the Crystal king set, he's also included as a minifig with only 2 arms, but also as a large centaur-like mech that is the main build of the set. This info comes from Promobricks, who didn't really describe what the minifig looks like beyond the 4 arms, so I'm hoping it looks great! I'm also excited to see what these sets look like, but I expect we'll be waiting another 3 or 4 weeks before we see anything. -

These are meant to be used to connect the two banners included to the Ninja Dojo Temple (on the bars that protrude from the back of that set). I think it's done this way because the other sets attach the banners using some form of clip except for this one, so it ends up with the awkward 2 extra parts. -

Yeah, every piece of it is a recolor. The face is from the Hobgoblin from 2016 (https://brickset.com/sets/76058-1/Spider-Man-Ghost-Rider-Team-Up) so it's 100% a fake/April fools joke. -

Lol, these pics are so blurry that there's barely anything we can gleam from these. The mech looks to be more lanky than I expected, and the temple is more vertical than I expected too, but that's really it. Nothing looks bad from these images, the more we see of the raider the more I like it, but that's really all I have to say. Give us better images please! -

Remember, the dragon build in the mech was described to look like the Empire Dragon, so I suspect it might be Unagami in his dragon form. These promobricks descriptions make this wave seem even more interesting now. I'm guessing the earlier ones were based on the prelims we saw, while these new ones are based on final images that we won't see for a while, and it seems there are actually some significant differences. Cool to see that all 4 golden weapons are getting updates, and given how the scythe looks, I'm excited to see the rest of them! The number of minifigs in this wave (29 new ones!) is honestly insane, but also makes for a very expensive wave for any minifig collectors. The two oni masks are great inclusions, I'm guessing Garmadon's is his Oni form we saw in March of the Oni, and I wonder if Lloyd's is something similar, since he's also part Oni. Another wild thing is the fact that it seems the og 4 ninja are the heads of the ultra dragon, sounds like it might look weird, but we'll have to see. About the main 4, it's also interesting to learn that they have exclusive outfits in the temple, it makes me curious as to what makes those different from the other suits. Will this be the first wave with 3 suits for most of the ninja? Now I'm really hyped to see these! -

Out of these, the only one that stands out is the Crystal King, which looks fantastic! The shaping is great, with the helmet and shoulders really standing out to me. I can't wait to see the whole thing, lower torso and back legs included. Cole's racer looks like a weird mix of an off-roader with a street car, I really don't know how to feel about it. Given how busy the back looks though, I suspect it has some transformation feature. Jay's bike is the usual, not much to say. What we can see of Kai's raider looks interesting, but it's too little to make any judgment of the whole thing. The other interesting thing to note is the minifigs. The re-use of the ice armor and helmet makes sense, and it looks good too. It does seem the accessories changed from these preliminaries to the finished product (Look at the minifigs in the jet) and I'm disappointed they removed the epic battle weapons from the winged ninja, I really liked those parts and was hoping to see more of them in the future. One more thing to note, it does indeed seem that one of the samurai in the raider set is a returning villain, but I can't tell who (he seems to use the generic samurai helmet? Who could it be?) But yeah. I really want to see the other three since they seemed more interesting than the generic vehicles from the descriptions, but maybe that'll happen soon. Looks pretty good so far though. -
Super Mario 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
The_Fiery_Rooster replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
This is probably the first wave of this theme that feels kind of meh to me, and I think it's because it feels the least 'new' of all the ones we've gotten so far. I don't really care for the Peach starter course since I'm happy with Mario and Luigi and don't really think a third character adds anything. Honestly, I would have much preferred Princess Peach be a character like Toad or E. Gadd than what we got, but I also understand why they went with this route instead. As for the set itself, it feels smaller than the other starter courses for some reason? I appreciate the more elaborate builds, but it feels more like a collection of disparate builds than a small level like the others did. I would have preferred another maker set like last years instead of another starter course. As for the other sets, I love this trend of the small $10 dollar sets, and I hope we get more in the future. The boot is a fun build, and will hopefully have some fun interactions with the characters too. Maybe next year we can get one of the koopa car? (From Super Mario Maker 2) The springy mushroom (Fuzzy and Spike sets) looks interesting, I would like to get my hands on one, but the fuzzy set isn't too interesting and the spike one is pricey, even though Spike himself looks fantastic. The Yoshi set looks fun, I wonder how Yoshi interacts with the fruit, and I appreciate the trend of including suits in bigger sets. but the ice tower doesn't do it for me. Peach's castle looks great, the trapped cake is a fun feature, and with the description mentioning some really cool features (bob-omb painting, Bowser fight, etc) I'm excited to see some different angles and videos of this set. I don't mind the reused characters. They're such classic characters (in the case of Yoshi and Bowser) that I think it's good to give more than one way of getting them, and I think these sets are different enough that it doesn't feel like a complete rehash. So yeah, I guess there's a few things I'm excited for, but not as much as the previous waves. Hopefully the next one can impress me a bit more! -

Well, that's the problem. It isn't new. It's just 2 of this piece (https://brickset.com/parts/6123814/plate-1x2-w-5-9-ball-end) stacked on top of each other, which means this 'fix' givens the mechs lopsided hips. Look at the box pics, you can tell that one balljoint is lower than the other. Now, not only do they have awkwardly wide hips, but they also can't stand straight. Why don't they just go back to the previous build? What was so wrong with it? If I get any of these new ones, that's what I'm doing. About this set itself, I feel like a recolor of that spidey mech could be a really good venom mech, better than the one we already got. The green goblin mech looks fine, but I would have loved to have gotten a glider for it. Maybe I'll make one, whether I get the set or not... -
Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
The_Fiery_Rooster replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's only a matter of time guys. It seems like half the people here are convinced that since we haven't had any confirmation of any NWH sets this year, it means that we'll never get anything at all. Yes, it took us 2 years to get good endgame sets, but this Spider-man we're talking about. This guy gets entire waves every year dedicated just to him and his villains, it's going to happen, I just think it will either be in the latter half of this year, or the beginning of the next. It all depends on when Marvel handed out their info... Yeah, this year has been a mess of fake leaks so far. First it was the Raimi sets, then the fake minifig series, after that the Uncharted set, the tower of fate, this guy on Eurobricks, and sprinkle in a few fake star wars set names for good measure. I really think we, as a community, have to do something about this before this spirals more out of control than it already has. -

That's true... that whole time thing really makes doing anything else with those characters hard, if not impossible. It doesn't really help that they did barely anything with the idea, other than to use it as an excuse to make the Ice Emperor seem like an ancient threat to throw out the suspicion that it was Zane (which didn't work anyways). -
LEGO Ninjago 2022
The_Fiery_Rooster replied to Gangikhan448's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Honestly, part of me is expecting the non-golden suits to be repeats of the Core suits. It just seems a bit much to get that many new ninja minifigs in one wave, and since they are specifically described as 'golden', I wouldn't expect them to be 'the other suits but with wings'. That's a complete guess on my part though. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the unknown figures ends up being Akita, especially if they are including Scott in Nya's mech. She was a much more important character in the Fire Chapter than Scott was in Prime Empire. From the descriptions we have, I could see her being in either the temple (in the prison cell) or in the Crystal King (Promobricks says there may be another figure in that one). Beyond that, I'm excited for this wave! It seems fun to bring back all these villains in a more cohesive way that DotD managed to do. I'm hoping there's a few more, I could see one of the four-armed minifigs being Garmadon, and maybe one of the samurai is General Vex from the Ice Chapter (He's still alive, right?). Even if that's not the case, I loved the ice samurai, and I hope these crystal ones capture some of the same energy as those. Hopefully the crystal sword and armor piece look fantastic. The golden ninja have the potential to look great as well. As much as I liked the anniversary figs from last year, the different headgear from figure to figure didn't make for a cohesive team look, so these will probably be better in that regard. The wings will make these stand out too, and if the pieces look like the EVO wings, then they'll look pretty good. For the sets themselves, I like some of these ideas. The crystal king centaur mech sounds cool, but I'm worried that with all the extra bulk and parts needed for the lower body that it may end up being pretty short compared to the other large Ninjago mechs. The crystal temple, with all the floating platforms, is a great concept to finally see in a lego set! I know they've done some floating platforms in the elves sets, but this seems to be a larger scale attempt at the concept. All the vehicles sound meh to me, just more of the same, it's really the figures that make those stand out. I would be more excited for Lloyd's dragon if it didn't have the super low parts count, and the non-cloth wings don't help either.Maybe it looks better than it sounds? Same with the Samurai X mech, nothing about the description makes it stand out to me, at least not the way the combo mech did when we got a description of that one. I'm excited to see pictures now, but who knows when that could be. Summer sets do tend to leak more often, but nothing is a guarantee. -

The_Fiery_Rooster replied to Gangikhan448's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Those videos are mostly discussing theories and possibilities, I don't think there's really any proof of that happening. I'm sure something big will happen after this year's summer wave, given that it does seem to be 'final-battle'-ish, but I don't see any good reason to do another soft reboot, since the last one wasn't too long ago, and the show itself seems to be trying to be less complicated story-wise than it was prior. As for that particular theory, I've definitely heard it before, so it isn't even a new idea, just the resurgence of an older one, which makes it seem less likely to be true. -
Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
The_Fiery_Rooster replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
USED is the key work here. We haven't had a NYTF that revealed all summer sets since 2017. After that year, Lego has only shown spring sets and maybe one summer theme if were lucky (Hidden side, 2019). As such, in terms of this discussion, NYTF wouldn't have mattered anyways. I feel like every year everyone forgets the change and gets excited all over again, only to be disappointed when the date rolls around... -
LEGO Ninjago 2022
The_Fiery_Rooster replied to Gangikhan448's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Well, these set names had me excited. I hadn't realized Ninjago never had any rock or crystal enemies so far, so hopefully we'll get some great minifgs out of that. The prospect of getting a massive dragon and Samurai X mech sounded amazing as well! But the leaked parts counts have dampened my excitement quite a bit. Why are they all so low? Less that 1000 pieces for $140? I suspect something is amiss, but then again, I can't remember the last time there was a mix up like this, and I don't want a repeat of MK 2020 when we all assumed info was wrong but wasn't, so now I'm prepared for disappointment. Hopefully I'm just being pessimistic, and something messed up here, or the sets still end up great despite the low part counts. Oh well.
