  2. Check out the Full Wave of reviews! Set information Set Name: Luigi’s Mansion™ Entryway Expansion Set Set Number: 71399 Number of Pieces: 504 Theme: LEGO Super Mario Year Release: 01/2022 Prices: £34.99 / $39.99 / 39.99€ (Euro prices may vary) @Lego US https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/luigi-s-mansion-entryway-expansion-set-71399 @Brickset https://brickset.com/sets/71399-1/Luigi-s-Mansion-Entryway Box & Contents Pretty big box for this set, it is skinny but long. I was surprised that even with it's size it has the break-away opening instead of the taped flap. Five numbered bags of parts and the standard pamphlet inside the box. There was lots of unused space, but overall a nicely designed box. The booklet that is included with the set is not instructions but a small catalog for the rest of the current sets and a bit on where to find the app. You will need the app to follow instructions, that's how it is meant to be used. For most sets, however, you can find the PDF instructions over at LEGO Service. The Build Overall the build was pretty decent. There was a bit of repetitive parts but not overly much. It's a fairly small set, but the build was more interesting that I had expected it to be. Bag 1 - Bogmire First bag and first character! Not a bad start. PURPLE HORNS, and there was one extra! If you like purple, this character is chock full of it. Unfortunately, he does not have any sort of fun articulation. Bag 2 - Gate & Grave This is my favorite bag of the set. The parts themselves as well as the finished mini builds. The gate is simply wonderful. It is a functional gate that can be opened, very robust hinge mechanism, and the design/visual appeal is perfect. The grave is simple but very effective and can teach us how to not overcomplicate a design and yet have it look great. We also see our first play feature in this build with the platform that fires the back turtle shell. Bag 3 - Entry Part 1 Not the most exciting bag, but here we are setting the stage for the real meat of the set. Since I hadn't looked through other reviews or watched any videos about the set before building it, I was not exactly sure where they were going with a lot of the build here. The next bag gave me a few "oh neat" moments though. Bag 4 - Entry Part 2 & Boo Barcode extravaganza! This section has two interactive platforms and an enemy, so lots to do! It builds upon the result of bag 3 and totally fleshes out the main area of the entryway. The doors are great, I haven't seen door hinges done this way before and really liked the technique. Even after I have built the whole set, watched videos, and read the official descriptions: I can't help but feel the bucket feature is pointless. Bag 5 - Entry Part 3 & Polterpup Not my favorite bag, but not bad at all. As far as parts are concerned, I do like brown window frames and the black windows. As you can see in the photo, the 2x6 dark green brick is a lot darker than the arch. Why? I have no idea. I have seen this a lot in the past with dark red and with tan, but this is very pronounced. Our final character of the set, Polterpup! Isn't it adorable? Completed set With all the bags complete, all that's left is to plug it all together. All the Super Mario theme sets have a large footprint compared to number of parts and this one is no different in that regard, but it lays out rather nicely. Characters Polterpup - your adorable ghost dog friend. He's just happy to see you! Cute little molded feet, printed eyes and mouth. Boo - Best just not to look at him He's got printed face and a trans clear post to let him float above the level. Bogmire - Don't touch his dripping acid! When playing, use the black turtle shell to knock him down to unblock the doorway. Play Features There are quite a few play features in this set. You will, of course, need a Mario or Luigi figure to properly play though. Start out at the gate, scan the barcode there and open it. Oh no a Bogmire in the graveyard! Stomp on the platform in front of him to launch the black turtle shell, knocking down the enemy and unlocking the front gate. Jump over to the doors, watch out for Boo! Unlock Polterpup and bring him through the gate on the sliding sidewalk. Scan the barcode for the golden bone, you did it! Conclusion I really like this set! My hopes were not very high based on the price and part count and even the photo on the box, but there's a lot to do and some great parts and cute characters. It doesn't get much better than this at this price point for a Super Mario theme set. Definitely recommend picking this one up if you are looking to get into the Luigi's Mansion line of the theme. Score Design: 8/10 I've said it earlier in the review, but I will say again that I love the design of the front gate. The whole thing just works perfectly and hope to use it as starting point for a moc at some point. The doors on the entry itself are also very nicely designed. Parts: 8/10 There are some really nice non-standard parts in here like the design elements used on the gate and the half cylinders used on the sides of the entry. I'm also a big purple fan so having a whole bag of purples was fun too (unicorn horns!). Build: 8/10 The build was pretty good! There were the duplicated sides on the entry that were not as fun the second time, but overall some nice techniques and small builds here. Playability: 8/10 For such a small set it has a lot to do! Gates and doors open, there's a sliding sidewalk with a gear to turn it, and a shooting turtle shell. Lots of fun for Luigi. Price: 9/10 Is the price high for the number of parts, yes. Is the price good for this theme and all the play features, also yes! I try to judge prices within the theme as much as possible as some themes lend to higher PPP than others. This set is a good price point for the play features and that's what's important here. Overall: 41/50
  3. I love the colors and design of the castle, I would love to tour the real you based your build on.
  4. Check out the Full Wave of reviews! Set information Set Name: Bowser Jr.'s Clown Car Expansion Set Set Number: 71396 Number of Pieces: 84 Theme: LEGO Super Mario Year Release: 01/2022 Prices: £8.99 / $9.99 / 9.99€ (Euro prices may vary) @Lego US https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/bowser-jr-s-clown-car-expansion-set-71396 @Brickset https://brickset.com/sets/71396-1/Bowser-Jr-s-Clown-Car Box & Contents Small but colorful box. Pretty standard for the price range. This set has three numbered bags, but if you're building with a kiddo it is really only two builds. Just something to keep in mind if you like to work intandem. The booklet that is included with the set is not instructions but a small catalog for the rest of the current sets. You will need the app to follow instructions, that's how it is meant to be used. For most sets, however, you can find the PDF instructions over at LEGO Service. The Build It's a small, simple, cute set. Hopefully nobody is expecting any major revelations on builds here. I really love the dark orange windup key element, first seen way back in 2012 CMF series 6 Clockwork Robot. Bag 1 - Bob-om You might not even need instructions for this build, it's very straight forward but very cute. I love the little flame on top. Bag 2 - Clown Car Part 1 Lots of white in this bag! This is the start of the Clown Car itself with a breakaway bottom, which looks like a back in my photo. Bag 3 - Clown Car Part 2 And here we have the face of the clown and it really looks like the Clown Car you're use to seeing. It can be set down, the propeller will slide up a bit so it can sit flat, a pretty clever design. Characters This is the full completed set. A nice addition to your LEGO Super Mario world. Play Features There is really not a lot that can be done with just this set other than collecting the unique "characters" it provides. Both the characters have barcodes though so your Luigi and your Mario can interact with them. Conclusion This is a cute set but on it's own it isn't a lot of use, I think it will be fun when playing the home built levels to have a big water (blue), acid (purple) or fire (red) area for the car to fly over. Score Design: 8/10 The design is spot on to my memory of the characters while staying in the sizes they need to be. I really like the thought put into letting the car set flat and fly with the propeller out by having a sliding mechanism. Parts: 7/10 The parts are alright. There's nothing that would make me buy the set just for parts, personally. Build: 7/10 It's a small set and a simple build, not bad though. Playability: 6/10 The nature of this set is that it's really not playable at all on it's own. Definitely the least playable LEGO set I can think of. Price: 8/10 The price is not too bad at all. It is licensed though so there's always a bit of an upcharge there. This size set in City is generally $7.99. Overall: 36/50
  5. Just read the pinned threads and it tells you exactly what to do to get started. No need to post questions about it when you haven't read the documentation yet.
  6. :cough: Just a friendly reminder because nearly 50 posts today and you have been resurrecting very old threads. Please don't post in very old threads that have had no posts in them for many months (let alone multiple years). This is not the way you want the staff to remember you

  14. Check out the Full Wave of reviews! Set information Set Name: Adventures with Luigi Starter Course Set Number: 71387 Number of Pieces: 280 Theme: LEGO Super Mario Year Release: 07/2021 Prices: £54.99 / $59.99 / 59.99€ (Euro prices may vary) @Lego US https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/adventures-with-luigi-starter-course-71387 @Brickset https://brickset.com/sets/71387-1/Adventures-with-Luigi Box & Contents For those who have the Mario starter set, you will recognize the unusually shaped box. I'm sure the marketing team had a great reason for this, but as any sort of collector will find out, it's quite an annoying shape to try and store. It does serve the purpose of catching they eye and showing lots of information about what's inside though. The set consists of a quick start guid (not to be confused with an instruction booklet, more on that later) and 7 numbered build bags. The numbered bags are great if you are building with a child who might not have the best attention span. The Build Let's start off by looking at the Quick Start Guide. It is not instructions as you are use to, this is more of a short primer on how the LEGO Super Mario sets work. It shows you how to use the app and the Luigi figure. You will need the app to follow instructions, that's how it is meant to be used. For most sets, however, you can find the PDF instructions over at LEGO Service. Bag 1 - Luigi The first bag is, of course, Luigi. This is a computerized character that is needed to interact with the LEGO Super Mario courses, including the areas included with this set. Let me warn you now, batteries are NOT included. You'll need 2 AAA batteries as well as a screwdriver to open up the back and install them. I highly recommend using some long lasting rechargeables. Once you insert batteries, the rest of the Luigi build is pretty straight forward. You can purchase other costumes or even use the ones you might already have for Mario. There are a few extra parts in this bag that will come into play later one when you want to assemble the whole course. Bag 2 - Skeleton Goomba, Beginning and End Interstingly they have placed both the beginning and end of a level in the same bag as well as a small enemy. There's one flag and two flagpoles, but both of my poles were slightly bent. This is very common with these LEGO tubes and not something to be concerned about if you notice the same issue. The length of the poles is short enough that adding the flag did not cause any sort of extra bending. Bag 3 - Pink Yoshi & Play Areas Most of the excitement of bag three is building the Yoshi. An adorable, if unstable, character. There is also a ? block and a couple of gear play areas. At this point, it's important to remember that everything can be set up however you want when laying out the game and there is not really a "correct" way. Bag 4 - Platforms To me this is the most boring bag, though I do like all these shades of green and the cactus piece. There isn't a lot going on here, just building a few simple platforms for Luigi to jump around on. Bag 5 - Spinning See-saw Now we're talking! Some real action is coming with this build. A little bit of Technic adds a lot of fun play to this build. Luigi can launch an enemy right into the air by jumping on the opposite platform. What fun! Bag 6 - Boom Boom Bag 6 is the mid level boss, Boom Boom and his small castle tower. It has one of my favorite LEGO Mario elements, the turtle shell. Not a complicated build by any means, but a fun character with jointed arms. Bag 7 - Connectors Last and definitely least, bag seven is just 9 plates. These are used for connecting various parts of the set to other parts to form a play level for Luigi to jump around in. Everything at once Here's the whole set, laid out similar to how they have it in the instruction manual app. Normally if playing with a set, a child will lay it out in a straight line but that doesn't work well for me or for LEGO to get it all in one photo Characters There are four cute characters with the set. Three of them are brick-build and Luigi is the computer and main character. The character design is really good, printing on the printed parts is also nice. Yoshi & Luigi have big-fig type arms that are movable and Boom Boom has Mixel type arms that are joined. I love all the characters in the theme, the only negative here is that with those tiny feet Yoshi is quite unstable when not on some studs. Play Features Those who have seen this theme before will be familiar with the basic idea of the play features. The whole theme is one big play feature! Turning Luigi on and placing him into the green tube starts the level, you'll hear the Super Mario music play as time counts down. The player manually jumps Luigi around the level, hitting those barcodes at various points to collect coins and take out enemies. The main special play feature of this set is the see-saw which spins as well as having the lever action and both sides have bar codes for collecting coins. It is a fun little feature even if I am reticent about making a character fly off the other side! Conclusion This is an actual must-have set for anyone getting into this theme if they don't already have Mario. The characters in this set are also unique to it so from a collector standpoint it's a good one to get. My son is 7 years old and absolutely loves playing with the theme, he likes to build up a level and play it. Now that we have Luigi, there's the option of two players which is fun for kids as well. Personally, I wish there were more to the game part of the game, but it is definitely fun to have my favorite characters from childhood video games available in some sort of LEGO form. I recommend the set and the theme for anyone interested in Super Mario, I only wish the price wasn't so high for so few parts. Score Design: 8/10 The design of the characters is true to form for the IP they are based on. They are brick built which also gives builders a chance to learn some creature building techniques. The main play feature of this set is well designed and doesn't have any weak or fall apart feeling when playing with it. Parts: 7/10 The parts aren't all that exciting, mostly because there are so few of them. The biggest thing that we are paying for in this set is the computerized Luigi which is well built, but does require batteries. I also like the red shell and all the character feet. Build: 7/10 Overall, there's not a whole lot of building going on here. A few segments, characters and one main play feature. It's a small set but the builds themselves are well designed and sturdy. Playability: 9/10 This theme is all about play. In theory a kid would spend a lot less time building it than playing with it, which is fine if that's what the buyer is looking for. There are a lot of barcodes in this set, which is the main thing you need in a Mario set to make it playable. Price: 7/10 We're back at price again. It's high, there's no denying it. Luigi is a little computer with multiple screens, that's the reason this small part count set is so high. I would rather the set be around $35, but that would probably be the price if it was just Luigi with no level builds. Overall: 38/50
  15. That's correct, there is no granular control like the one suggested.
  16. Shadows and I also spoke about this and agree it is time for a change. The change has been made.
  17. I think a lot of it is actually only a perceived shift. Since TLG has been releasing a lot more branded or IP sets (as well as the standard city/etc), they have been drawing in more and more folks. Now most of these newer folks seem to be collectors of the things (Star Wars, Friends TV, office artwork, HP, etc etc) rather than Lego fans/builders. So as the community grows it appears to grow more in that direction even though there are still lots of builders, the builders are starting to become overshadowed by the collectors. So I don't think there's a real shift, it just seems there is because of numbers....if that makes sense.
  18. Great work from you and on the whole collab. I love Aladdin and Assassin's Creed so you got me with this one! :dhappy:

  20. Moving this to the proper area. Welcome to Eurobricks
  21. This has come up many times over the years and we really would rather folks just post a simple comment like "good work". A like button or a upvote, or anything like that will not be implemented.
  22. For everyone: The ads are based on your browser history so if you are seeing something distasteful there's only one place to look.
  23. It is an interesting project for sure, I just wouldn't put much hope in it paying for itself. It might spark some ideas and ways to make something that is monetizable though, in my experience that's how these sort of projects really shine
  24. @Gdurham Welcome to Eurobricks. Please refrain from posting the same topic in multiple forums, one thread is plenty. If you joined just to sell people on using your website, I'm afraid it's going to be a tough road for you. As to your question about cost of your service, spending money to have a minifigure identified is something that will probably not be utilized as we are a community and we simply help each other with these sorts of questions for free.
  25. Ah I see, it was a misunderstanding. When you paste the image URL into your post, at the bottom of the editing window you will see some text "Display as a link instead" and if you click that it will change it from an embedded image to a link to that image.
