Could a "Like" button be introduced?
Darkdragon replied to Lego David's topic in Forum Information and Help
Ah, great, this is already off to a wonderful start! Nope, forums are dying everywhere because people aren't using them as much anymore. It's not a Eurobricks problem, it's simply people using different types of communication and media these days. I know quite a few dying forums and can assure you that Eurobricks is far from it. All of this looks like you just want the site to work differently because you don't feel like using a forum. Well, if you don't want to post and use a forum and would rather use a site with like buttons then feel free to use those sites. Nobody is holding you prisoner here, but we won't rewrite the whole site because you don't feel like using it as a forum. You talk about Twitter being able to host images, that's funny, comparing this small fan-run forum to a multi-billon dollar company and demanding we run like they do. No, we can't host images, it is too expensive. Would you like to fund image hosting here? Directly messaging a moderator to ask where to post is not the right way. The moderators are here to help run things not handhold everyone with things that are already covered in the help section. This is exactly why we have the forum help area which you are obviously capable of posting in. Nobody is blocked from talking about 3rd party and clone products, we even have reviews for many of the clone brand sets that are not stolen MOCs or Lego sets. These are found in the Community forum. A moderator of a specific theme could disallow discussion if they feel the clone items are infringement. You're one to talk about long winded passive-aggressive responses. Oh my goodness. Though I guess yours is more aggressive-aggressive. Yes, there are some folks that are difficult to get along with - also not a Eurobricks problem. Have you been anywhere else on the internet? It's not a pretty place, a person must learn how to ignore the more argumentative folks. -

If you right-click on the image on facebook you can "copy image address" and paste that in your post. I don't know, however, if people without a facebook account will be able to see it (I did not test that)

@Operacion Saturno I can remove attachments you've posted, however please keep in mind this is not an image hosting site and the allocation for uploads is not meant as a way for you to share your creations. You should upload your photos to a photo hosting site and deep link those photos in your post.

They are advertising a LOT more in the past few years as sets meant to display rather than creatively rebuild - at least for the adult lines which is most of the ads I see because I am an adult A lot of the ads seem to be coming from "display this in your office without embarrassment and let people know you like LEGO without being called strange for playing with toys" - that's how I am interpreting the advertisements (for the most part).
-
Everything you are talking about IS creating/MOCing so I don't know why you try to argue that it isn't. That makes no sense to me. "My Own Creation" doesn't mean "a giant build for posting on IDEAS and/or conventions, but it can be those. It doesn't mean "building a car with 4 wheels and 6 bricks" but it can. It is simply making anything without using another person's instructions, thus building a small background for a brickfilm is MOCing, building a 20 foot diarama of Bag End is MOCing. Building a set by following the instructions, building something from the LEGO Ideas book, or buying instructions on eBay and building that is not MOCing.
-
As a person who actually grew up in this time period, I have to say your assumption is wayyyyyy off here. For one thing, many people didn't have more than a couple sets and some brick buckets. We had no choice but to rebuild. PLUS, building actual models (with a knife and glue and paint) was infinitely cheaper, more detailed, and more fun to display. LEGO was a creative and building toy. This info is coming from my experience as a youth in that time period as well as people that I knew, even the "rich kids" I knew never displayed lego sets in any sort of semi-permanent fashion, that's simply not what the toy was about. I totally agree!

Hasbro making LEGO-like products again with Transformers this time
Darkdragon replied to johnsocal's topic in Community
Are you kidding me? Necro on a thread dead for 11 years to say that? You should have use multiquote and just posted the quote and comment in a thread that makes more sense instead of bringing this up from the dead. Please don't do that. -
Very strange you can't delete again. I have removed the 4 files. Phes - I can show you how to do it as well if you'd like.

Option to turn off audio for notifications/messages?
Darkdragon replied to Lyichir's topic in Forum Information and Help
There are no settings for sound in the software, you should be able to manage it via your browser settings though. -
What icm says is correct, you must have 10 posts first. Please review the rules and FAQ of the site if you haven't yet, this is the exact type of question that is covered there.

This is exciting news for all of us LEGO Pirates fans that want some fun new fan created sets!
-
No, we do not delete comments. However you can go into your notifications settings and make sure that is set up correctly. Another option that might be causing the emails is if you "Follow" the thread, in the top right of the screen, but below the search box, is a button "Follow", click that and make sure you are not following the topic. https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/notifications/options/

[Review] 71398 Dorrie’s Beachfront Expansion Set
Darkdragon replied to Darkdragon's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thank you! You can download the PDF from the Lego service website "Find Instructions" and print them out at home, but I have not tried that yet so I can't comment on how well they print. -
I would say extremely likely that is a new starter set.
-
The sets are very similar, just depends on which character you like better and/or which you can find available. Mario Kart could be fun, to get some moc ideas for it you could definitely take a look at the K'Nex Mario Kart sets.
-
I definitely recommend the starter sets if you haven't tried them yet. Right now both starter sets are on clearance everywhere too, which makes me worry about the theme but it might just be new starter sets on the way. The starter set has enough to build a level and that should help you out to see if you like the theme for play or not. My son has been playing with them since the theme came out and he loves it, he actually likes the cheaper sets the most - the big airship and even Bowser's Castle weren't as much for for him because he couldn't really design his own level for it the way the smaller sets can be used.
-
That's a good point, yes they do need updates whenever a new wave of sets comes out. It will work without the update but you won't get the new set features.
-
The app is only "needed" for instructions and as a way to keep track of what sets you have. All the set play features are by the bricks, barcode, and Mario/Luigi figure.
-
I think we are saying it didn't make anything look stupid and you might be overreacting.
-
Don't base your joy off one negative comment on a thread, everyone is able to have and voice their own opinions on things, especially when you open it up as "what do you think". Not everyone is going to agree with you and they are free to state it too. Let's just have a rational thread here. Also note that you can not delete a thread or post once created, so make the most positive use of it that you can. I love all the random call outs that designers put in sets, like the post card and posters and shirts all mentioned already. Sometimes you can find names that tie characters back and that's fun too.

Check out the Full Wave of reviews! Set information Set Name: Dorrie’s Beachfront Expansion Set Set Number: 71399 Number of Pieces: 229 Theme: LEGO Super Mario Year Release: 01/2022 Prices: £24.99 / $29.99 / 29.99€ (Euro prices may vary) @Lego US https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/dorrie-s-beachfront-expansion-set-71398 @Brickset https://brickset.com/sets/71398-1/Dorrie-s-Beachfront Box & Contents Compared to other themes, the Mario sets definitely have bigger boxes than what you'd expect from the parts count. I also noticed that they stopped printing the number of parts on the box. Coincidence? I'll let you decide After reviewing quite a number of the sets, however, I can say that to get a photo of every module in a set it does need a pretty good amount of real estate. That could partially explain why the boxes are so wide. As with the other sets in this theme, the booklet that is included with the set is not instructions but a small catalog for the rest of the current sets. You will need the app to follow instructions, that's how it is meant to be used. For most sets, however, you can find the PDF instructions over at LEGO Service. The Build It's a small, simple, cute set. Hopefully nobody is expecting any major revelations on builds here. I really love the dark orange windup key element, first seen way back in 2012 CMF series 6 Clockwork Robot. Bag 1 - Dorrie Bag one is lots of blue parts and some really nice ones for MOC builders. We've got quite a few newer curved slopes and some snot bricks, corner tiles and 2x2 wedge plates in white. The creature itself, really the star of this set, is really adorable. It is an interactive item as well and allows your Mario or Luigi to ride around on top and skate along the water levels. Bag 2 - Sandcastle, Fountain & Huckit Crab Bag two really has the meat of the parts count in it. There are many small parts used for building the two interactive modules - sand castle and water fountain. Additionally there is a green turtle shell and launcher for it. The lone enemy in this level is the crab who has one semi-posable arm. When all the bag two builds are complete you have four interactive modules for the new level. Bag 3 - Palm Tree & Big Splash Many of the parts in bag three are focused on building the tilted palm tree which is also an interactive module. We've also got another big splash and coral though they are decorative and have no barcodes. The grass square seems to be just to make a turning path and doesn't really have much interaction to it and lots of blue connecting plates for this water level! The completed set it cute and colorful with lots of interactions I'll go into detail about in the playability section. Characters Play Features At first glance, a set this small might not seem like it would have a lot of play features. However, the designer of this set really did an amazing job packing them in! Mario and Luigi can ride Dorrie which keeps them the risk of drowning on water levels! You might have noticed the bright pink blocks scattered through the build. Those are for a Block-hunting mini-game! Each block has to be discovered and scanned to get the points. The first block is in the sand castle and Mario needs to destroy it to get to the block. Block two is hiding behind the fountain, just try and stay dry! The final block needs to be knocked down from the wobbly tree like a coconut! In addition to all that, there's the crabby enemy! Knock him down with the green turtle shell and take him out with a pounding. Conclusion A nice set packed with play features! There's a lot going on with this small set and it is definitely worth adding to a Mario world. Score Design: 8/10 Quite a few nice mini-builds here and two characters. The character and play feature designs for this set are wonderful and it's definitely worth the build and play time. Parts: 8/10 There are a number of nice parts here including the Mario-only parts like the prints and turtle shell as well as the dual curve slopes and matching 1x2 curved slopes and water sprays. Build: 8/10 While not rocket science, there are some nice details in these mini builds that a person could definitely take to their own MOCs such as the way the tree is designed and tilted as well as the little sandcastle. Playability: 8/10 I've mentioned it before but it's worth saying again, this set is packed with interactive modules! Lots of playability here for those with any of the starter courses. Price: 8/10 The price is what we'd expect from a Mario set, around 11 cents per part. A bit on the high side but not overly so. Overall: 40/50

Check out the Full Wave of reviews! Set information Set Name: Luigi’s Mansion™ Lab and Poltergust Set Number: 71397 Number of Pieces: 179 Theme: LEGO Super Mario Year Release: 01/2022 Prices: £21.99 / $29.99 / 24.99€ (Euro prices may vary) @Lego US https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/luigi-s-mansion-lab-and-poltergust-expansion-set-71397 @Brickset https://brickset.com/sets/71397-1/Luigi-s-Mansion-Lab-and-Poltergust Box & Contents Standard size box for this price range, even though the number of actual parts is pretty small. The back of the box shows some of the play features of the set. This set has three numbered bags which are all complete mini builds of their own, so if you want to share with a helper this is a great set to divide and build at the same time. The booklet that is included with the set is not instructions but a small catalog for the rest of the current sets. You will need the app to follow instructions, that's how it is meant to be used. For most sets, however, you can find the PDF instructions over at LEGO Service. The Build Not a bad build overall. Each bag has complete builds in it and at the end bag 3 has plates to tie everything together. Bag 1 - Gold Ghost This guy is BRIGHT. My camera had some serious color correction issues because of the light these parts threw around. It was pretty unbelievable A nice solid build though, this a great use of snot bricks and tiny slopes. Bag 2 - Poltergust & Professor E. Gadd Here we have the meat of the set, the Poltergust! It is a new outfit for Luigi (or Mario) and of course does not come with the character. I have included Luigi in some of my photos because the Poltergust is very unwieldy without his hand to hold the pipe. This bag also contains the doctor which is adorable, I love that little white flame as hair. Bag 3 - Laboratory and Level Bag 3 may look like a jumble of random parts but there are a few minibuilds here. There's the maching you see behind the ghost and the lab tools and potions area. Many of the parts are for connecting all the various areas to make a small level. Characters Play Features There are not a ton of play features with this set, but there is the Poltergust and the Gold Ghost as well as a start area for the level. When you put the new outfit on Luigi the computer recognizes what it is and that opens up the abilities to gust the ghosts and put them in the machine at the end of the level. Conclusion A fun set and a fun new outfit for your Mario or Luigi to go fight some ghosts! With it's fairly low price point, this is a great little set to add some ghost hunting to your Super Mario levels. Score Design: 8/10 There are 2 characters and the new outfit. The Poltergust has a new element for the backpack and overall it's a great design. The doctor is cute and the ghost is well designed with snot and slopes. Parts: 7/10 The parts are good for Super Mario, as far as parts you might use for a moc there are not many. The Poltergust parts have some very specific large mold parts that would take a mocing genius to figure out how to use anywhere else. Build: 8/10 The ghost was a fun little build and so was the machine. Overall I thought the build was good for a set in this range. Playability: 8/10 This is a playable level for Luigi with the new ability to capture ghosts! There is not a ton going on here but it is decent. Price: 8/10 For a small playable set in this theme, the price makes sense. If you are into the theme or the characters it is definitely a good one. Like most sets in the theme, it is priced too high just to buy for parts. Overall: 39/50
