Anyone has any idea where the battery box of the Copter might be? The 5x11 panels look like they are attached tightly to another, unlike those in the Cargo Plane. My guess is that it either lies in the cargo bay, which requires opening bottom / rear cargo doors, or lies right above the cockpit, because those panels up there seem most detachable.

I was thinking of getting a 9396, but the information about the upcoming copter made me change my mind. At first I intended to save my budget for the Xerion, Volvo, BWE, but it seems I'd have to cut my spending further. Sometimes I hate Lego for knowing how to make me spend more money. And I can't seem to imagine how can it be 80cm long?! That's even longer than the 42043 B model with trailer!!

According to the information I found, the track piece in 8288 has not been used since 2010. Besides, 42042 has less functions than those of a Bucket Wheel Excavator (rotate, drive, raise boom, winch, manual grabber), yet it is somehow justified enough to be quite big. Your scenario doesn't sound much likely. On another note I tried contacting Lego Customer Service and asked them how big is the BWE compared to the 42042. They said they can't answer (which is not unexpected haha) but they did confirm there will be a 42055 BWE.

I think the Bucket Wheel Excavator will be in the same league with 42009, 42030 and 42043. It will have at least 2000 pieces and cost about 160 EUR / 230$. While the IP Car will be much bigger and cost much more; perhaps it is intended explicitly for buyers older than 16. In which case the Bucket Wheel Excavator can be called "flagship" and the IP Car "super flagship".

I don't think the Volvo excavator has only 500 - 600 pieces. It is most likely to have pneumatics, since it's a licensed model. Pneumatics model from 2011 until now use motorized pumps, not manual ones, which means the Volvo excavator should have a motor and a battery box. And having these two means it is at least 1000 pieces.

Lewa looks like the Joker, with two deep slits going up to the cheeks. "Wanna know how I got these scars? I asked Tahu and Kopaka WHY SO SERIOUS, and they stuck their blades into my mouth / mask."

Before I thought the bucket wheel excavator just dig things up and dump them nearby. Then I watched this: The bucket wheel excavator apparently has a conveyor belt on that move excavated stuffs around inside the machine for further processing or refining. I'm not really a big fan of this machine because to me it looks ugly, but if the upcoming set has this feature I may consider buying it.
