Definitely a not on par with the previous ones from earlier this year. Not as a set, not as a parts pack.

Review: 31036 Creator Toy and Grocery Shop 3-in-1
BlockLogo replied to mostlytechnic's topic in LEGO Town
I bought a couple of these when I saw them on clearance, mainly for the sand green bricks and window and door elements. I did build all three builds and they're... ok, I guess. -
Why feel bad for him? He has something everyone here wants, i.e. information on the new theme, and he's obviously having fun with it... (Thanks for all the info!) This is kind of shortsighted, no? You really believe they consider the wants of classic space or castle fans when they conceptualize a new "Big Bang" theme? On a forum like this I guess it's easy to forget that we're talking about a toy produced for children, not adult fans who harvest sets for trans yellow parts and new armor and weapon elements. They would be smart the AFOL community to certain degree I suppose, but the primary target audience for this and most LEGO themes is still kids. If Nexo Knights is as successful as Ninjago, maybe in a couple of years we'll get some big Temple of Airjitzu style sets that are more geared towards adult fans...

[MOC] Detective's Office/Newsagent/Barber Shop modulars
BlockLogo replied to ReplicaOfLife's topic in LEGO Town
The gable by itself looks great. Didn't know the lion head brick came in that color. I don't think it fits the style of the rest of the building all that well though. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
BlockLogo replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
If, and that's a big if, CC were to be re-issued, I think there would enough changes that the original would retain a highly collectible status. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
BlockLogo replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I don't think it'll happen, but not because of this. I don't see how aftermarket/collector's value would have any impact on their decision. -
Next big purchase: Detective's Office? Ferris Wheel? Temple of Airjitzu? City Square? The first three would be for somewhat permanent display, the City Square would probably be for building once and then modifying to fit in a modular city, something that would definitely be a challenge but may be beyond my skills. Any input is appreciated.

Has your pet(s) ever caused damage to your collection?
BlockLogo replied to legosamsonite's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think the more appropriate question for the OP is "has your LEGO ever caused damage to your pet?" I'm always worried about my dog swallowing a brick, but it's a worry about the heath of my dog, not about (or not primarily) about the integrity of the LEGO. A part can easily be replaced, a pet not so much. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
BlockLogo replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Exactly. Or you can add other sets to modular's interior, like the small seasonal 8 by 8s or the Big Bang Theory. In the latter case, you're left with a nice amount of useful bricks if you use the furniture as interior for one of the modulars. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
BlockLogo replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
All of the retired modulars use colors or elements that are no longer in production. There's just no way that those are going to come back. The winter toy shop though is as close to an identical re-issue as we've seen, so there is a precedent now for retired sets like that. -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
BlockLogo replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
OK FINE! Talking about rumors, where did the rumor of a candy shop being the new winter village set come from? Since the toy shop is now confirmed, the candy shop is now dead, unless there was confusion and the candy shop is actually the new modular? They're both Creator Expert themes so migha coulda been mixed up by whoever allegedly heard and leaked the info??? Huh? Huh?? And a candy shop would kind of tie in with the story line in the DO, but also kind of go completely against it as candy was prohibited in the DO's story... -

How come we're still talking about an arcade?? That rumour has been discredited several times already... -
LEGO Architecture 2015 News & Discussion
BlockLogo replied to tafkatb's topic in Special LEGO Themes
(Challenging myself and doing this without a translator) The hotel is currently, and until next Sept 6, receiving (?) the works of Belgian LEGO certified professional builder Dirk Denoyelle, and this set is a down-scaled version of one of his numerous creations exhibited for this occasion. In order to offer you this beautiful box that may someday be missing from your collection if you don't, write to the following email (...) If you love the product range of LEGO Architecture but only indulge in the "official" sets, please be aware that the set 21024 Louvre will be available starting next Sept 1 at a price of 59.99 Euros and that 2016 has at least 4 new entries in store that will take us on travels to Italy (21026 Venice), Gerrmany (21027 Berlin), USA (21028 NYC) and Dubai (21031 Burj Khalifa) -
I think I have decided to bricklink one of the retired modulars. Probably Green Grocer, as the Cafe Corner seems to have more ridiculously expensive parts. I'll definitely sub out the train windows, and 1x2 sand green modified bricks. Maybe the sand green altogether for a different color, but I have a decent stash of sand green from buying several of the Toy & Grocery Creator sets when I saw them on clearance at a walmart. I remember reading a post in this thread about good substitutions for some rare, expensive parts in the GG and CC, but can't find it anymore. Can anyone share what other parts in GG other than the ones I mentioned are expensive and what suitable substitutes would be? Or direct me to the post where this was discussed? Also, are there any sets that would be good starter part packs for this endeavor? Like the aforementioned Toy & Grocery for the sand green, the Bike Shop & Cafe and changing seasons for would be good for plenty of windows and tan, white and some dark red bricks. Any other ones?

I hope there's a good sequel to the ferris wheel and fairground mixer. Ferris wheel might be my next big purchase.

I'm fine with getting the buildings from other themes like Creator and to a lesser extend Friends and Juniors, and I wouldn't mind the vehicle focus in City if they were done a little better. Especially the huge, wide tires that are being used nowadays look pretty poor. It's not too bad on the bigger 6-wides, but on the small 4-wide cars they just stick out so much and look pretty bad. I think the amount and quality of Creator buildings is fine. City has been around for 10 years and it's always been this way, a police station and/or fire station every year, and one or two other larger structures like farm/garage/mine/train station/hospital/construction site per year. Though I guess this last year the focus in most of those bigger sets was more on vehicles and less on buidlings, like the swamp police precinct hardly had any structure but included three vehicles and a piece of play-featured terrain, and the same for the crooks hideout, demolition site, deep sea base, etc.

They did something like that with the Horizon Express (and maybe other sets?), including additional stickers in case people bought multiples to extend the train. So it wouldn't be completely unprecedented.
-
^Me too, and the Thanksgiving one. Those holiday vignettes have been great this year.
-
It's awesome that this theme is getting at least one more wave. I really enjoyed the build of the three I have. Even if the scale is a little awkward - a little too big for minifig scale, too small to be be accurate models of the real thing - they're great little sets for $15. I wish they weren't TRU exclusives in the US and got more exposure.

I know, I missed the valentine one but the easter one is fantastic. I wish I'd gotten several. They're so versatile, as part packs, display, to add to modular or moc interriors...

Oh oops. Yes, I did think of the Emerald Night when I read that. Sorry for the confusion.

Read on another forum that there is supposed to be a new Christmas train along with the gingerbread house/candy shop. I don't know where they got their info though... Here's what it said:
