  1. For the most recent brick.ie exhibition in Raheny I completely scrapped and rebuilt my old train tunnel. The new version is twin tracked with both a straight track and a curved section to facilitate landscaping of our train layouts. The tunnel has more detailed rockery than its predecessor including a bear cave. The waterfall moves using a technique I've seen on the web previously so its not my design - I couldn't believe those 1x4 plates are so prone to coming off the track threads. There are also two moving miners tapping away at the jewels. Both the waterfall and miners are remote controlled using PF wire. 2014-10-26 11.06.03 by Dfenz, on Flickr 2014-10-26 11.27.50 by Dfenz, on Flickr 2014-10-26 11.27.36 by Dfenz, on Flickr 2014-10-26 11.07.48 by Dfenz, on Flickr 2014-10-26 11.08.12 by Dfenz, on Flickr 2014-10-27 16.44.32 by Dfenz, on Flickr
  2. Its interesting that we wait ages for a Rorke's Drift scene in LEGO then two come along within a few months of each other. Personally I prefer the roof design of the huts in Oiley's version which uses tan droid arms. See this post for some pics of the alternative version of this historical battle http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97041
  3. Great to see another of the EB 2014 architecture entries receive its own post. This was one of the more unusual landmarks in the competition and you pulled off the complex recreation very well.
  4. henrysunset, sharing is now switched on.
  5. Janet vanD's Tombraider was her first MOC at an event. She'd only discovered us a few months previously and was not aware that other Irish AFOls existed. We did persuade her to upload pictures of a Victorian house which she'd done previously (sadly it was dismantled to recycle parts). Despite the risk of going off topic here is the link to the incredible Victorian House which also blew us away. http://postimg.org/gallery/w1jisek/ She had one other previous model, a country house hotel and we managed to obtain a picture of that (also dismantled) model. More information on that model can be obtained over at brick.ie if anyone is interested. http://www.brick.ie/...try-house-hotel Neither building was ever publicly displayed.
  6. She's there ... beside the red Raptor.
  7. At a recent brick.ie event one of our members (JanetvanD) produced her first MOC for us and wow, what a debut. Its a painstaking recreation of the Lost Valley scene from the Tomb Raider computer game complete with Lara Croft, raptor, T-Rex and medi-packs. It has the look of a lost Aztec city in the midst of a jungle. TombRaider by JanetvanD by Dfenz, on Flickr T-Rex at Titanic Belfast by JanetvanD by Dfenz, on Flickr Enjoy
  8. At a recent brick.ie exhibition in Belfast, we saw a recreation of the battle of Rorke's Drift, an event made famous by the film Zulu. It was made by our brick.ie member Oiley and it looks like it took a hell of a lot of patience. The straw roofs were made using tan droid arms. 9. As part of the Eurobricks 10th event I entered as my Architecture style entry my attempt at recreating the Aviva Stadium. It came a not too bad joint third. The stadium, which is based in Dublin hosts rugby and soccer internationals. It officially opened in 2010 and has hosted the Europa League Final. It is Ireland's only UEFA Elite Stadium and has a capacity of 51,700. The stadium has 4 tiers. On the north side the roof drops significantly due to the stadium's proximity to local residents. The stadium has its own railway station nearby. The LEGO version encountered several compromises, in particular the roof does not continue all around the north side. This allows a peek into the stadium itself. In other respects the model uses lots of transclear1x2 and 1x1 plates, 1x1 transclear headlight bricks aswell as my entire stock of 1x4 transclear tiles on the roof. Curves are generated using hoses while the seating is recreated using 1x2 dbley slopes. The model incorporates the railway track which bisects the site an angle so wedge bricks had to be used. The pitch itself uses SNOT techniques to recreate the markings of the 6 yard, half way line and penalty boxes while two incredibly rare 1x4 green arches are used to house the centre circle. The roof supports are made of three fireman ladders. Athy Show 2014 002 by Dfenz, on Flickr The real thing can be seen here http://en.wikipedia....i/Aviva_Stadium
  10. While I haven't checked Bfenz's yet its obvious that she has extra yellow 1x6's like Ace and L@go had - looks like 16 at a glance although i haven't raided her bag fully yet.
  11. Just opened my black bag. I hope the person sorting the 1x6 yellow bricks isn't a Lugbulk sorter for his/her LUG ! I am also missing 34 of these! Also missing were 2x 1x12 yellow bricks 10 1x4 yellow bricks 1 2x2 green plate 2 green hinge plates 3 yellow 2x2 corner plates 2 yellow 2x2 corner bricks 1 6x6 bley plate Extras included 1 horse - from winter market village 24 1x1 yellow tiles 1 2x2 inverted slope 1 1x3 yellow brick 1 1x1 red headlight brick 1 2x4 green plate 1 1x1 yellow cheese slope 1 2x1 yellow slope 4 inverted slope 1 73 slope yellow 1x2x3 1 1x1 brick with stud on side 1 1x2 inverted slope black
  12. Regarding creating new posts for all the architecture entries don't we have all those professionally taken photos against white backgrounds from the event? Rufus, Vincent Kessels, Rolli etc. Maybe if one of those people with a big camera started a post for each entry we could add more details. Seems a pity not to use the photos that were specially taken.
  13. I picked up the event shirts earlier. For most people they will get what they ordered. For a small number there were some minor t-shirt substitutions which look fine to me. I've PM'd those where the order was a little bit more problematic. Rather than PM'ing everybody separately with their bills I am posting individual totals here which will also include De Lorean's/ Hobbits where applicable for (my) convenience. If I have made any mistakes please PM me. It is getting late and I still have to pack everything. Rolli 5 items = 90 - payable in 10 huskies, 1 clone lieutenant (8?) and cash balance of e67? Cecilie 2 items = 26 Bonaparte 1 item = 10 Skalldyr 2 items = 15 - payable in 20 emma polybags .... we owe you e5 Teddy 2 items = 29 Mstr of puppets 1 items = 8 + 1 hobbit set 25 = e33 Redhead1982 1 item = 8 Holodoc 2 items = 19 + De Lorean 20 = e39 I scream clone De Lorean = e20 Christian De Lorean = e20 Scubacarrott De Lorean 20 + Hobbit 25 = e45 Morten Hobbit = e25 Rick 1 item = 8 Whitefang 2 items = 31 - (paypal fee 8 balance on Marina Sands/ 3 polybags) = e23 Legogal 6 items = 44 Vincent Kessels 1 item = 26 Aredhel 2 items = 26 + Hobbit 25 = e51 Eiker86 2 items = 31 Henning M 1 item = 18 Cwetgo 4 items = 29 + De Lorean 20 + Hobbit 25 = e74 Ecclesiastes 1 item = 24 + Hobbit 25 = e49 Rufus 1 item = 8 (+Lug) Calanon 1 item = 8 Jim 1 item = 16 Quarryman 1 item = 9 + De Lorean 20 = e29
  14. Last call / final reminder for EB event t-shirts/ shirts/ hoodies/ zoodies/ caps etc... as the order needs to be submitted tomorrow. I've posted a list of people who have ordered in the message thread for eventees. But of course I'll be checking it again.
  15. For information, I am keeping a record of all messages received re t-shirt/ polo shirt/ shirt orders and will respond to all at the end of the week to reconfirm the orders. As a reminder the deadline for submitting orders is the end of this week (by PM to me)
  16. Cwetgo, no problem re the kiddies t-shirt, do you also want it in black? I'll come back to you on your other question after we check last year's shirts.
  17. The t-shirts aren't uniforms even if black seems to be the preferred colour. The logos are standard.
  18. Some more prices for items from the catalogue - Mens shirt - Russell Collection J934M - €22.00 Polo shirt, ladies fit - SS560 - €14 Long sleeve shirt, ladies fit - BA171 - €11.50 Hoodie - AWDis JH001 - €23.00 Zoodie - AWDis JH050 - €25.00 Cap - BC081 or similar €8.00 As a reminder the deadline for event t-shirt orders is the end of next week, Sunday 27 April in order to allow sufficient time to have orders checked and processed.
  19. Thanks bonaparte. In fairness it is duq that is interacting directly with the supplier.
  20. As has become traditional for the past few events, t-shirts are being produced for the Eurobricks 2014 event in Billund - this time with a special 10th anniversary event logo. Those of you attending the event last year would have seen the shirts I brought with the regular Eurobricks logo embroidered on them. The logo can be embroidered onto almost anything and there is a link to the catalogue below. its not just t-shirts that are available. What is available? The catalogue is here (items and sizes explained): http://www.irishcres....php/catalogue/ How much do they cost? The prices for shirts are the same as last year. Some of the most popular items are: SS008 Fruit Of Loom T-shirt @ €7.00 Size Chest (to fit) S - 35/37", M - 38/40", L - 41/43", XL - 44/46", 2XL - 47/49", 3XL - 50/52" Fabric 100% Cotton Belcoro® Yarn Heather Grey - 97% Cotton, 3% Polyester H5180 Hanes Tagless T-shirt @ €8.50 Size Chest (to fit) S - 36", M - 38", L - 40/42", XL - 44", 2XL - 46", 3XL* - 48/50", *3XL only available in these colours Fabric 100% Ring-spun cotton SS402 Fruit Of Loom Poloshirt @ €11.00 Size Chest (to fit) S - 35/37", M - 38/40", L - 41", XL - 44/46", 2XL - 47/49", 3XL - 50" Fabric 65% Polyester, 35% Cotton HB400 Henbury Poloshirt €15.00 Size Chest (to fit) XS† - 32/34", S - 36", M - 38/40", L - 42", XL - 44/46", 2XL - 48", 3XL - 50/52", 4XL* - 54", 5XL* - 56/58" †XS only available in these colours, *4XL and 5XL only available in these colours Fabric 65% Polyester, 35% Cotton HG100 Hanes Poloshirt €17.00 Size Chest (to fit) S - 36", M - 38/40", L - 42", XL - 44/46", 2XL - 48" Fabric 100% Combed Cotton These prices are based on 25 shirts. For 15 shirts add 5%. There was a small logo set-up fee that will be apportioned over all orders - for 25 shirts it works out at €1 per person. Prices include Vat @ 23%. Prices for other items will be obtained on request. I don't have prices yet for caps, ordinary shirts or hoodies if anyone wants to order these but the prices are likely to be very reasonable. Recommendations 1. Please remember that the Eurobricks logo (including the special version) contains lots of blue so I would not recommend that anyone orders a blue t-shirt/ shirt. Personally I like the logo on black material although white looks fine also. 2. The logo is not printed. It will be embroidered onto the chosen items and so will be more durable. As it is embroidered I would recommend that a heavier material be chosen especially for t-shirts and lighter colours. Normal logo While this order primarily is for 10th anniversary event shirts, the supplier still has on file the standard Eurobricks logo so if anyone wants any shirts with the standard logo please specify this and we'll try to get them done with the standard logo. Timing and ordering I would suggest that we give people 2 weeks to decide on their orders. This allows orders to be amended if there are any out of stock issues. Orders can be sent to me via the messaging system while general queries about the order can be posted here. If I get additional pricing information I will post it here. The order should state the catalogue item type, reference number of the item, colour, quantity and size etc. I shall assume that it is the 10th anniversary version of the logo that is required unless specified otherwise. Payment Payment will be accepted at the event unless these shirts are so popular that we need to take out a second mortgage to pay for them! The shirts are for Eurobricks 2014 event participants only.
  21. Any truth to the rumour that a substantial transfer fee was paid by Group 3?
  22. I'll try the Aviva Stadium. Could be a disaster but worth a go. http://en.wikipedia....blin_Arena).JPG
  23. Whitefang 1 x 30240 1x 30243 1x 30213 for me please thanks
  24. Your post initially gave the impression that you hadn't got your money back. I gather from your later post that you got your money but no refund notice which seems rather strange. In my mind that was a matter for the ticket agents who had all your booking details not the organisers who have been publicising the change in venue, date and name on various online fora including here. As regards the use of the 'LEGO' name, I suspect the organisers are very familiar with the policy as the previous 'LEGO Show' in 2012 in Manchester was supported by the LEGO group. The larger venue should make for a great event that is more accessible for european MOC builders than other UK or northern european locations and I am looking forward to it.
  25. Before we get a lot of requests from non-eventees for t-shirts that we haven't even decided yet to acquire, I'd like to point out that the logistics of ordering, paying for and delivering t-shirts to any non-eventee that want a EB t-shirt could be challenging irrespective of whether they are sourced in Germany, Ireland or anywhere else. Its a matter that we'd have to give some very careful thought to.
