LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Haltiamieli replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Uploading pictures directly to Eurobricks is adviced against, I think, and there's not much space for them, but you can certainly post the pics here if you upload them to elsewhere, like Flickr. Yeah, evil knight's torso was blank too. Not the ideal option, but at least both have nicely printed armour pieces. -
Minifigures Series 8 Guessing Game Results
Haltiamieli replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow, I did better than I expected. I was expecting that someone would have got at least five correct guesses, but congratulations nevertheless to JVD and especially to The Brick Rat - well done! And thanks Itaria No Shintaku for organising the guessing game, it was very interesting. I will certainly take part in the upcoming Series 9 guessing game too. -

Does any of the ones you've got include alternative face print (and could you take photos of evil robot's and american football player's face)? Which torsos have back printing? I assume Conquistador's torso under the armour is blank? -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

What's strange about the red cheerleader is that it doesn't seem to have the normal thinned waist print like modern female figs more or less always have, nor does she have any indication of breasts. Compare to her blue rival: I'm surprised that the hair piece hasn't been released in black before. A new mold would have made the fig a lot more desirable, but a recolour is better than nothing. With the general consensus being against this fig, I suppose her hair will be rather cheap in Bricklink. And hopefully her head too, I think I'm going to use it for my female jester. Looks loony enough. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

This series seems like a good one for me: A couple of very desirable figures, but not too many and I probably don't want more than one of anything. Saves some money, which is appreciated. Three a year. While the January series may start appearing in December, you can't count it for both years -
Ah, of course it is! How stupid of me.

It's an old design of the Gungan shield. And SheepEater, I'm sure that by nightfall these topics will be swarming with Orcs, Dwarves, Elves, and Hobbits. Well, maybe not by nightfall but in due time anyway. It takes some time to amass credible armies from the new factions.

Left of the Red Book, is there something sticking out of the cone piece? A pen, a quill? Am I only dreaming?

Spot a fitting accessory for the boy in Bavarian costume: Coincidence? I think not. -
As far as we know, yes it is. I hope we will soon get pictures of its insides from the con! Dwalin seems to be compensating for something with that hammer of his...

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

Yes. Both white and grey hair pieces would be very much welcome. Though I think we haven't had that many heads with white eyebrows either, compared to the abundance of white beards. -
Up to the barrel-riding, so the episode in Thranduil's realm is included. Personally I find it slightly hard to believe that the biggest set would be based on the Goblin Town scene, what would be the building element, just some cavern walls? It worked once for Moria well enough, but not again?

I'm not sure if we are getting the complete picture, so to say, from this picture. The lighting makes it seem like the chest part circled by the braid bulges out the most and is rather even from the neck to the belly, but I think a picture from the profile could reveal at least slightly more natural shape.

Results: Survey Missing LEGO Animals
Haltiamieli replied to Bonaparte's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Interesting list. I'm slightly surprised how well the deer fared in the voting. As a Castle fan it's certainly something I'd like, but I wouldn't have guessed it would get quite so unanimous support. You might wanna correct one trivial error in the pdf though: Belville never included normal Lego horses, surely you meant to say Paradisa? -
Personally I'm very happy about the redesign of the wargs, those hyena mongrels were one of the very few visual designs from the trilogy that I strongly dislike. Though I'm not completely against the warg design from the trilogy being made in Lego, they would be nice enough mounts for non-licenced orcs. I'd just keep them far away from my LotR collection. My favourite of the dwarf designs is probably Dwalin. Nice new beard, good likeness etc. Then would be Bofur (crazy hat!) and Balin (that beard-hair-combo sits slightly awkwardly, maybe?). Bombur would be my least favourite. I understand the style Lego decided to take and they did a nice job with it, but I'm not a fan.

Review: LotR 9469 Gandalf Arrives
Haltiamieli replied to Captain BeerBeard's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Lego has made that hat in sand blue, it just hasn't been released unprinted in any set. The BL seller could have gotten unprinted hats from a factory leak or something, he's positioned close to Denmark. Or he might have scraped the printing off. Personally, as fan as I am, I've always imagined Gandalf's hat to be grey (watching the movies too ), so I'm fine with the official version. I'm admittedly rather colourblind. -
LEGO LOTR / The Hobbit release dates and availability
Haltiamieli replied to Fives's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yeah, I was just contesting that the "December 1st" poster would be referring to the movie, as I interpreted the preceding poster was argumenting, because December 1st date doesn't have much to do about the movie. I think it is very probable that the sets will be around in the US around that time, as you say. Though I suppose Finland will have to wait for 2013 before their release. -
Probably based on Cwetqo's post that's being discussed, or otherwise there's two identical rumours going around.

Nice model, though admittedly a beggar would probably not be the best subject for a set in reality. But luckily mocs are not necessarily bound by such considerations. If Lego for some reason would have decided to make a beggar set in the 80s I can imagine it would have looked much like this. Maybe add a third figure, a civilian who could interact with the beggar and give him food or money etc? I think that would add quite a lot play value and desirability to the whole.

Originally from Helena of Pharaoh's Quest, but it was also used in Dino theme. It is one of my favourite female heads: beautiful, expressive and yet not too exaggerated/overdone. And I like freckles. Bricklink

LEGO LOTR / The Hobbit release dates and availability
Haltiamieli replied to Fives's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
But the movie isn't coming to theaters in December 1st but two weeks later (December 12th at the earliest)? Of course not taking in account the New Zealand world premiere, which is already in November. -
This one? It was originally Mac MacCloud's head in Pharaoh's Quest, but was also used on a Lion knight in last year's Escape from Dragon's Prison before the chess set.
-
Such a bittersweet idea to think about. Had they not botched the movie series, maybe there really could have been a Lego theme based on it...

"...it will probably still continue into 2012." The article is slightly out of date. Kingdoms did indeed continue into 2012 with Kingdoms Joust and Chess set, the latter of which is not mentioned at all in the article. Personally I'm pretty surprised if it is a normal retail set, as that would seem to be directly competing against Lego LotR and a single set wouldn't probably get much shelf space in stores. I would expect something out of the "extended lines" like the chess and battlepacks and whatnot. But what do I know, TLC certainly has a better understanding of the overall situation than me.

So we got a new chess set, but according to Cwetqo it might not be all we are getting: "like in Kingdoms (which was also well recepted and got additional small wave and exclusive set and will get at least one new set, besides chess)." (in Monster Fighters discussion topic) Cwetqo has been very trustworthy in these things before, as far as I've seen, so it seems like a real possibility. Now the question is: what could it be? Certainly not a normal retail set, nor a big D2C set as the Joust was released just a while ago. A coin bank? A tic tac toe game? A CMF clearly related to Kingdoms, like a king for the Dragon Knights? Something none of us can foresee?
