And so the aftermarket price of the zombie came crashing down... even if it won't be exactly cheap to acquire in this set either (and the suit is coloured differently). Thumbs up for the new hair colours in the rock band set (but why use 4L sticks as drumsticks when there's 3L sticks around?)! That letter tile with a bat figure in the tombstone is new, isn't it?

A while ago I bought my first LotR set, Gandalf Arrives. But as soon as I brought the new set home, it was assaulted by vicious armies of sickeningly yellow-faced people. They butchered poor Gandalf and Frodo, cut them into pieces and through some dark, unimaginable magick used their parts, mixed with heads and other body parts from god knows where, to create yet more companions to their ever growing army of yellow-faced villagers. Behold the travesty!

I hope they wouldn't make a typo in a trademark case Not to say that "Chima" couldn't be meant to suggest China, though I think that would be rather lame (not the theme necessarily, but the name). For what's it worth, any theme with "legend" in its name sounds promising!

Parts of Beorn's house was seen on the latest production diary vlog, and even though the set is larger than life to be in scale with the dwarves, the gigantic scale seems to imply that Beorn will be somewhat larger than normal human beings.

Yeah, in June Delta 38 reported a similarly colour-inverted torso in quality control topic (picture in Flickr). The pants have the usual colours, so I doubt the inverted colours are anything but a strange misprint. Could become valuable... Hard to say before we have at least seen what Beorn will look like in the movie. At this point I'd bet on Hagrid-style, though hopefully a bit better realised (those hands were ugly). Woody-style would make him appear quite lanky.

There, a picture from the video game. Though, as far as I've understood, there's no warranty that if/when Galadriel appears in a set she'd look anything like that.

A cool design, supported without a doubt! I too like the miniature castle and other backdrop things. I think you are a bit on the hopeful side with the amount of props like wigs and such; but if you don't ask you don't get either, so I suppose it's fine. What does the carriage look from the other side? I have been planning to enter my own take on a travelling show wagon to Cuusoo, but somehow I suspect yours will fare quite a lot better - deservedly.

The Unofficial LEGO Collectors Guide RAFFLE

I think I would choose the Yellow Castle, the very starting point of all things Lego Castle. I remember from childhood how I used to look at a picture of the set from some old battered piece of catalogue. It was such an excitingly primitive idea that once the walls had been yellow and even the horses had been brickbuilt. Another possibility would be a much later set, Siskind's Blacksmith Shop from 2002, which is a beautiful creation and paved the way for the Medieval Market Village and such. But I have already built my own Blacksmith Shop from bricklinked parts, so the Yellow Castle would be preferable. -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality

Nope, there has been no news on the review stage projects. Not that surprising yet, their announced timeframe more or less implies that it takes at least two months easily. I'd expect we'll get news in a month or so (I think they want to get some news out before the next review stage starts in September 4th). But not necessarily much earlier. -
Or, to be exact, in the books his hair colour isn't explicitly stated, but the only mention can be taken to suggest dark hair: "Frodo looked up at the Elf standing tall above him, as he gazed into the night, seeking a mark to shoot at. His head was dark, crowned with sharp white stars that glittered in the black pools of the sky behind." Most of Legolas' kindred, Sindar, are said to be dark-haired. Then again even a blonde's head would look rather dark in the night, and we know from a mention in The Hobbit that his father had golden hair (of his mother we don't know anything, she may not have been of Sindarin blood)... So all in all, one can imagine Legolas' hair to be dark or fair according to his liking. To me Legolas has always been dark-haired (and I think Orlando Bloom would have looked considerably better with dark hair).

Ok, now you are just being silly. But this isn't probably the best place to argue on American cultural imperialism, or whatever, so maybe we just agree to disagree. -

I have to admit that American Football Player would be a rather long name, though more accurate/exact, so I suppose they didn't have better options. -

A few days ago I made my first Lego LotR purchase and bought Gandalf Arrives. Considering how hyped I'm about this series it's a bit funny that the minifigs didn't stay together for more than a few minutes, then Frodo donated his hair to a townswoman and Gandalf gave his beard to a townsman and his torso and legs to make a monk for my town. It's nice to know that we'll get a similar Gandalf in Bag End set, so using this one for my own designs I know I'm still going to get one to keep together as Gandalf. Yesterday I came to visit my old hometown to attend to a friends' wedding and waiting for the ceremony to start I visited a general store I remembered to have had a few Lego in the past. Well, they had resumed their shelf space for toys but still had a few things... like a rather full box of Series 4 minifigs and a box with four Series 3 figs. Hadn't seen these in a while! As I suspected, the four bags seemed to include the usual suspects: sumo wrestler, race car driver, indian chief... and elf. Wait, what? Seriously? Back when Series 3 was widely available I got bored of collecting elves when I had got four, but considering how much they command in the aftermarket I just couldn't pass a sealed bag for 2 euros.

Yeah, the "brick brick" is a 2012 novelty. It has been used in a quite a few sets this year.

The connection to Monty Python was mentioned a few times in the Series 7 topic, but considering its lenght it is no wonder if it has passed the notion of many. And while the movie scene is very iconic people don't seem to usual remember the Black Knight's emblem that well. I certainly didn't, before it was pointed out by someone in aforementioned topic. But nevertheless it is a very cool homage!

Funny biographies, as always. But I'm a little disappointed that they chose to call the american football player the Football Player. Would've been fairer not to take sides on the question. -
Went to get my bike repaired and in the mean time visited one of the local automarkets (though I had visited just yesterday to check for MF or LotR, still no luck ), and decided to buy my fourth Evil Knight. That ties it with the Elf as the CMF I have most of. Which, I suppose, tells that I'm not much of an army builder

A very worthy addition to the Winter Village theme. I'm not into Town themes but I do sort of regret that I have no money to fork into collecting these sets. They are just so cute. I have to agree with many others though that some of the minifigs could be chosen better. I like the blue colour in this one, it suits the cozy atmosphere and gives some colour to the village scene as a whole. I did a quick (and as such quite flawed, especially considering the varying perspectives) mashup from all the main WV buildings, I think the Cottage fits in nicely regardless of its slightly bigger size: I'm slightly annoyed that the roof window doesn't go through to the kid's bedroom.

So, the probable length of the licence just got another year. That's a lot more sets! (when it comes to the films themselves, I'm quite cynic about this turn, but who knows, maybe just maybe it does work even artistically and not just financially)

Maybe it's just a younger guy dressed as Santa, in the vein of Gorilla Suit Guy etc. Do you have the Gandalf minifigure, vriverajr3? I'd like to know whether Santa's hat can be used with Gandalf's beard. -

While I too hoped that they would use Toth's design, I wasn't really expecting it. I don't think Toth's design really corresponds to the most usual stereotype of fairies (in fact, strictly speaking Toth's design seems to be a wood elf, despite the wings, cf. the labelling of her tiara), so it's not that surprising that the designers decided to channel some Disney Tinkerbell instead. Considering this I don't think the result is that bad (if not great either) except for the cloth skirt, the sort of which I dislike inherently. I do remain hopeful that someday we might get an elven lady with a likeness to Toth's design, sans wings. It's possible. -

Based on the pictures I tend to agree. The mold is awesome, but the colour doesn't look very good. Other observations: * There's a random white flower on Fairy's face, which looks unconnected and renders the head rather hard to use. The torso still looks good. Waiting to see a picture from behind to evaluate the wings piece better. I've never liked cloth skirts, that's the biggest minus of this fig. Not that it wasn't obvious already from the promo pics, just saying. * Are those black lines under American Footballer's eyes some kind of warpaint or what? Not familiar with the sport so it seems rather strange. Surely they are not meant to be a moustache? * Red Cheerleader's expression looks less unique up close. Pity. I liked that hint of madness that I gleamed from the promo pics. * Shakespeare Actor looks even better than in the promo pics. Not even Conquistador can resist his best-of-the-seriesness. Nice faces too. And while I love all the new hair pieces (well, maybe except the one used on Ice Skater, Flamenco Dancer and Fairy), I appreciate the classicness of that old and trusted mold. Nice that it hasn't been completely forgotten. * The sack Santa is holding might just beat Bavarian's pretzel and Actor's ruff as my favourite new accessory in this series. Such a mold has been long overdue. Santa's hat is nice too, but rather limited in it's possible uses. * Batman's torso, with normal hands, could be used to create a nice unzippered gorilla. * Cowgirl's face is not as nice as I thought from the promo pic. At least I'm not gonna be tempted to buy the whole figure now just for the face and the lasso. Maybe I bricklink them later.
