Sfodda! I missed the Germany/Denmark game! First, I was twenty minutes late getting back from the mall. Second, the ESPN2 digital source got garbled . . . again! ESPN was fine, though, so I got to see most of the Netherlands team appear despondent during most of the second half. They knew they needed a win with at least a two point goal differental to go through to the next round. I'm happy Germany made it through. Germany VS Greece . . . maybe they'll settle the ecconomic woes on the pitch.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

I agree with everything here except for one thing: cheerleading is a sport on its own. There was even a series of movies about it. Granted only the first movie acutally had a decent plot, but it's true. I have given some thought to the 'diver' minifig, and an old-style, bubble-helmeted diver could be achieved with a trans-black crystal ball painted copper or sand green (for tarnished copper) for a great effect. -

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

What I'm wondering is did the Czech text specify American football? If it didn't, we could be seeing a dragon team 'footballer' not a 'football player' since this guy is playing for the lion team. We Americans tend to use the word 'soccer' whereas most of the world uses the word 'football' for the world's most popular sport. If that is the case, I would hope for a different trophy mold, or a Jabilani(sp?) ball. UEFA, MLS or even FIFA World Cup! EDIT: Just read the Czech page and it has 'fotbalistu' with no reference to America. -

Zeus: King of the Gods in the ancient Greek pantheon. It makes sense to me. We got a Poseidon figure in CMF 7. (Apologies spelling correction.) -

For all you Europeans who don't know, when your are talking/typing about American football you say/type 'football player'. 'Footballer' is a Brittish term. I actually have no interest in American football, so another football player would be a disapointment. I'd like to see a Zeus figure. -
I believe the hives in the tree are this piece. The ones on the boxes are this piece.

Medieval fantasy is probably out, but I could see them doing an ancient civilizations theme. That could entail a wide variety of cultures: Indian (sub-continental) Mesopotamian (Babylonian, Persian, Kushites, etc.) Greek: Spartan, Athenian and Macedonian (Alexander) Roman Empire (East and West) Huns (Attila) Turks Visigoths (like you said) Norse (not just the people who went 'a Viking') Celtic tribes (may intrude a bit on LOTR, but they ranged throughout Europe before the Roman conquest and obliteration of their cultures) If TLG wants to really differ from LOTR, they could go with a Mezo-American or Pre-Columbian theme. There's the Aztecs, the Maya, the Olmec, the Innuit and a whole range of tribes from North America. There are also a host of Polynesian and Aboriginal peoples they could do. And when/if LOTR does wind down (probably after the DVD release of the second Hobbit movie) they could fold the classic Castle themes into Ancient Civilizations. This is all speculation, though.

Well executed as always. A medieval bee keeper suit and a Winnie the Pooh reference in the same vig. I knew those pen pieces would be useful! (See this thread for proof.) You beat me to it. Hopefully I can get some for my next build, which may take some time. A lot of people claim that great minds think alike, but the truth is great minds think differently. I didn't see those pieces as beehives, but as something else (not gonna tell). Still, yours is in inspired parts use.

1) jackal 2) iguana 3) hippo 4) giant sloth 5) falcon I just realized that my wishlist in reverse is in alphabetical order.

For your Galactic Patrol have you considered these heads: Power Miner - Brains Hydronaut 1 Hydronaut 3 As to your Neo-Blacktron, I find them quite fitting with the theme.

Here are the results of the final reshoot. I changed the image setting on my netbook web-cam and got some better images. Looks like I'll be using this for all my Lego pics from now on. Welcome Khamar Ibn Hakkad. The Nestlands Clans are glad to have new peoples to trade with. Cobalt Vale is now open to all traders. OCC: Do I spy a modified version of the shipwreck hull from 7776-1? -
I'm sorry I missed it. Gotta check the next Netherlands and Denmark game times. Hopefully my sports channels will carry it. I did get to see most of the first half of the Spain/Italy game, and later the highlights. Italy held their own (1/1) and were more of an attacking force against the World Cup champions. I also caught the Ireland/Croatia game. Croatia spanked Ireland (3/1), so all the hype about their Italian coach was just that. . . hype.

Detail! Detail! Gonna have to wait till this fades from my memory before I have the confidence to do a complicated sci-fi build. Too good. Can't compete.

Wonderful, simple little vig with loads of subtle detail. And yes, the brick surface is quite appealing, but in my case it is very familiar. Gainesville, FL (the closest big city to me) has lots of old brick streets and some newer brick cross-walks, but most of those are set with a diagonal pattern.

I finished something in LDD last night that I hope to build when I have the ecconomic capability. Kaliphlin Round Tower 01 by gedren_y, on Flickr Kaliphlin Round Tower 02 by gedren_y, on Flickr Kaliphlin Round Tower 03 by gedren_y, on Flickr It was inspired by this MOC, but uses this technique. I am aware that TLG doesn't yet make a dark tan 1x4 tile. I just used it as a placeholder for a more complicated 'brickwork' to be determined later. -
General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

deskp and GuntherThePenguin are correct about PoTC 5. I just checked Johnny Depp's IMDb page and it lists him as filming The Lone Ranger with a 2013 release date. It lists PoTC 5 as announced, but has no release date and no other actors listed. I do expect we will see more PoTC sets, though, considering the range of sceens and multiple ships from the previous movies not yet produced by TLG. It is also likely that TLG will hold the PoTC lisence through the sixth movie, which it has been confirmed that Johnny Depp has been contracted for. I hope TLG gets to work on some At Worlds End scenes. I would love to have a Captain Teague/Keith Richards figure. -
For those who have wondered how long PoTC will run as a theme, you have to consider that Johnny Depp has contracted with Disney for six PoTC movies. According to his IMDb page, he is currently in filming for The Lone Ranger, but the PoTC 5 is listed as announced. He is the only actor listed for any roll, though. I believe that as long as TLG holds the PoTC license, the chance of having small Classic Pirates runs between movies is unlikely. There is a wide range of scenes and several ships from the previous movies not covered by TLG. I for one wouldn't mind having a Captain Teague/Keith Richards fig.

Simply being known as vulnerable could give a beginner hacker the confidence to attack the site in an attempt to hone their skill. As to why attack Bricklink at all. It is most likely about money. Bricklink makes money from their sellers. If someone can find a way siphon off miniscule percentages from sellers payments to Bricklink, they can make a lot of money very quickly. Think the worm program idea from the movie Hackers, except more complicated and harder to trace. There is also a certain degree of information about Bricklink members in the site's database, ie. addresses, asset volume and Paypal accout ids. They could use this information themselves, or sell it to others that have access to other institutions that pair up with the information for identity theft or other types of crime. Even physical theft of a Bricklink user's property could happen. Most valuable items can be claimed with insurance, but since the majority of Lego items are low value assets, and determining the origin of individual parts online is next to impossible, someone could easily resell the stolen Lego in another venue. I would suggest that Bricklink sellers that have a large volume of Lego try to find a way to insure their inventory against theft. It may up your costs, but it could keep you from major loss of business and the money paid in acquisition of your inventory. I do not enjoy considering these possibilities, but as the old saying goes, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

As to the table you could do a semi-circular cut-out table like this: Guild Table 01 by gedren_y, on Flickr Guild Table 02 by gedren_y, on Flickr You could have anyone with something to say stand in the middle and address the whole group. You could make the table with as many sections, and as long as you need. You could also have a place near the entrance for laying down arms, so that warriors in the midst of heated debate do not go for weapons to settle disputes. -
New pic added. Not good, but it's a composition shot. I'll have to get my hands on something better.

I'm using a cheap Vivitar. Wasted $20 on it. Yes, there are plenty of details, and a liberal use of Brickarms and Brickforge products. I hope the story was engaging, though. That is what made this build fun.

This is a nice brick-built Treebeard. The only issue I see is that the Bionicle parts stand out too much. If you had the parts in brown, reddish-brown or dark flesh, they would be less noticable and make the build more cohesive. BTW: What part is the blue piece in the tree from the Monster Fighters Werewolf set?
